Tanks Ian, might try to do that. I dont think Boing does exist in Dutch ( youre Dutch is improving!) as it has no meaning just invented set of letters to replicate a sound, a boinging sound. Open your door and you will hear Boing Boing Boing. -
I tend to surf the web on a daily basis looking for cars, news about cars, parts of cars, stories about cars .. anyway you get the picture. Autoblog.com Autoblog.nl Carmagazine.co.uk Carbuzz.com Autovisie.nl Autobild.de Lexusenthusiast.com And of course i do follow Harry Metcalfe and Chris Harris. What about you? Where do you spend your time?

dislikes the electronic boing sounds when i open the door to warn me that the door is open which i know as i just opened it. Also sometimes the system gets confused and keeps boinging ( does that word exist?) without me knowing what for. Switch everything off, open door and close, start up again and shut the system down. The sunroof that i mainly use to flip open so not slide. I regularly forget to close it and receive a welcome warning boing and message that it is open after it turned off the power. But i can't close it. there is no power so i have to stamp on the brake, igintion on, wait then close roof and shut system down again. And why are there 2 buttons to operate the roof why not one? The infotainment system. The menus seem created by thesame engineers that did the marantz receivers in the eighties. They had almost one hundred buttons on them and i could never figure it out. I do hope that Lexus will make it more user friendly and intuitive to operate as now i just don't bother. Likes chassis. truly excellent roadholding with great balance. Wonderful. In town driveability. CVT shines there and the Emotor and petrol power let the car shine. exclusivity. In a world where there is another BMW on every streetcorner this car is a breath of fresh air -

I do agree Chris, i drove one for 1 day as a loaner when my IS was in service and the sheer size of the car can be intimidating. However, when i drove it it felt smaller than it was the car seems to shrink around you and especially in town where it was rapid from corner to corner and i found the drivetrain just great with the Emotor giving max torque from stand still and the smooth 6 kicking in when needed. A Really Quick Car mind you. Maybe a car is like a house, it can never be too big?

i know but its the atmosphere in the pic and the right timeframe that made me dream off. Capri's were and are still beautifull by the way, too expensive when i was a student! -
lexus owners - what did we drive before?

Memories Memories. 17 yrs old and driving from Holland to Spain in 1978 in a 2 door Cortina - yes brown of course - with the tent and luggage in the boot. Car was so tail heavy the frontwheels barely touched the ground which gave a total different meaning to roadholding ( not that it had a lot of course with worn out shocks and a steering wheel you had to hold firmly to prevent the car from taking a left turn..). we placed the tent on the back seat which made the car more driveable reached spain were drunk for 2 weeks and drove back home. Glorydays! -
Lexus dropping 2.0T for U.K.
dutchie01 replied to Big Rat's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
The Lexus Strategy is to have a controled worldwide growth of 10% each year. It is by no means trying to sell as many cars as possible and will not follow the German strategy by introducing as many cars and or engine choices as possible. Styling will play a more important role ( hence the new LC and IS polarized exterior architecture and beautifully crafted and designed interiors). The aim is to become a brand for connaiseurs, people that will purchase the cars because they absolutely want them. Example in an interview with the Lexus worldwide m/d was Porsche. Not focusing on high volume but controled growth, high margin and strong brandvalues. -

It seems to me that every forum has itś own style, own identity. I love reading the LS forum, here are the true Lexus die hards trying to keep their wonderful saloons on the road. Main topics are technical, maintenabce related, restoration. These people do all themselves i just love following a restauration project, great atmosphere in this form and i just wish i was that technical, fascinating stuff. Then the ISF forum. What a joy to follow, real enthusiasts that love their cars and driving them. Seems most threads derail quickly in arranging a meet up with cake and coffee! always brings a smile to my face very positive and humorous forum. ( with great pics ). then the IS300 forum. all new cars of course and propably a lot of company car owners. main topics about mpg or in car entertainment systems/satnav. The debating for a debate is somewhat tiring and the atmosphere can be a little agressive and negative. Anyway i am sure those clouds will disappear one day. Here 's to positive! -

i purchased my IS300H as firstly i thought it was just a great looker leaving the competition way behind and secondly beacause ii think it is just a great car. The chassis can handle many mor horses without any trouble and i rate it highr than the 3 series( which i owned for 2 yrs). All that combined with a beautiful interior, top notch bulld quality without creaks or rattles and good fuel consumption made me go for it. For me personally NOTHING to do with tax etc. Linas, you will have your personal opinion and that is fine, but it is your personal opinion and nothing more. YOU think the t engines are crap etc while many of us may feel they are just fine. YOU may feel the IS300H is not a drivers car but many of us will have a different opinion. I do expect you will react on this mail like a ping pong ball as usuall but your black and white world is not mine. -

Some further info on this; Lexus shifted over 50.000 NXś last year in the states outselling the X3 and Q5 making it the number one premium SUV. The vast majority was 200t and the hybrid only plays a very small niche role. ( it is more expensive than the 200t ). The NX 200t got very positive reviews in the automotive press ( like the RC200t) and is seen as a big success. Not sure about the UK market but in Holland Lexus withdrew all 200t engines only several months after the introduction. Reason beeing that hybrids get tax incentives so the 300h was priced below the 200t. All is based on Co2 of course. On top of that company car drivers pay less tax on the hybrid. So, this left the 200t without any hope. -

great color and wheels. congrats! -
Hi Linas, you say 160 kg is equivalent to 2 persons so not that much. I tend to disagree with this. Is it one thrashy person of 70 and one of 90 or 1 of 52 and one of 108. And is the heavier one sitting behind you or not as this will definately effect the handling and i am sure the engineers did not take this in account when developing the car whilst they should! Lexus should have thought of all these scenarios before releasing the car to the public!! Then again it could be one noisy person of 160 kg !! have that sitting next to you and see what that does to your performance. it really is very disappointing and i do not understand why they keep building these cars when they are clearly underdeveloped! I am planning a testdrive next week with 3 friends of minimum 150kg each and i will post my respons to Lexus Japan directly!!

Thanks for this excellent review ! Great piece of reading and for me it could even be longer, more detailed. I was given a RX450H as a loaner last tuesday when my IS 300H was in for service and boy did that car make an impression. I was a bit unsecure by the sheer size of the thing, it Is BIG, and even after climbing on board that feeling was still there. The first thing i noticed when looking in the rearview mirror was the backseats, space, emptyness and room you can simply throw everything in there kids, friends, bikes, furniture you name it. I spent the day just driving for drivings sake, not needing to go anywhere, thats how much fun the car was. Yes it feels heavy in corners, floats a little in slow traffic and the steering is without a lot of feedback or feel but that silky smooth 6 combined with a much more powerful electric system than in my IS meant fast and effortless propulsion. This is a car that always goes faster than you think, like you mentioned looking on the speedo and thinking, What?? The buildquality ( much higher than my IS), the practicality and above all the correct drivetrain for this car is just the right combination that makes this a winner for me and continues the Lexus feeling i experienced in my IS 250 and lost a bit in my 300. I am convinced it can turn into a friend of the family hauling everybody around come day or night, protecting all from the bad world outside, whillst at the same time giving lots of driving pleasure. OH that lovely vocal burbling V6 just beat all other 4 pots especially when in dieselform. I am not surprised it sells like hot cakes in the states. Shame it costs 80k Euro in Holland... Hapyy motoring Rayaan, great Choice!!

Linas as you apparently cannot find your pick in the current Lexus range and feel they are underpowered overweight mediocre cars with cheapo materials please try to find a make and model that suits your tastes better, buy it and move on. -

Lexus like every company needs profits to survive. They make most of their money in the states and quite frankly the UK market is pretty irrelevant to them with only 2% of output sold here. In 2016 only 2408 Lexus IS were sold in the UK which is bordering on a joke really. ( BMW 3 series in 2016 - 50.000). So offering more models or variants on one model more engines different shapes and so on is just not going to happen. With those tiny numbers they will never be able to create a good businesscase. I honestly think that without the Toyota Bank they would have pulled out of the UK market long ago. So instead of dreaming up our ideal lexus with 6 turbos, 12 different satnavs or use of exotic lightweight materials it might be better to just enjoy the car as it is - just a very good above average ride that looks fantastic. Is it the perfect automobile? by no means, but i personally rate it higher than the 3 series or A4. Do me a favor and take them for a spin. Just appreciate that Lexus is still there, i just love mine! -

totally agree. current turbo engines are very civilized and totally in touch with the rest of the car, drivetrain, chassis etc. i can remember my Saab that had a tuned 2.0 engine. at 3000 rpm the left or right front tyre would loose grip and i just loved the whissling sound of the pop off valve, fond memories but sometimes totally unpredictable especially in the wet, like skating from left to right! -
I would definately go back to the Lexus dealership where i got the car from 6 weeks and 1500 miles ago and would politely inform them that i am somewhat disappointed with the paintquality of my brandnew vehicle. Did they maybe receive similar complaints etc? This is a grey area where Customer Service will take over from technical and if your Lexus dealer puts his customers first he will surely understand your disappointment and will try to help you one way or the other.
