7 seat RX is near
dutchie01 replied to rayaans's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
hmmm, in my view the proportions have not changed for the better. and 2 extra seats in the rear crumple zone? guess there will be a demand for it in the states through. -
when there is demand there will be supply. customers are prepared to fork out hundreds of pounds for keyless entry so car manufacturers are happy as well. who would order a brand new LC500 with a key alone that you have to insert into the door twist and again insert into the steering column and twist? Maybe if this was a very expensive option you could tick and the snobs could brag in the pub, hey have you seen my key??

RC facelift heading our way?
dutchie01 replied to AndyCLexus's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
Andrew did the dealer show you some pictures? Can you get some would love to see them. For me thesame decision upcoming. Have to change my IS and the RC is on the shoppinglist. when will the facelifted RC hit the showroom? is that March/April? -
interwebs product presenters ( honest john) seem quite different than old school motoring journalists ( harry metcalfe).

i thought it was not that bad at all... Very factual, good comparisons with competing cars, the financial part was very informative.and all was completely missing the point. Again it shows that the Lexus brand is not understood by the majority of people, a Lexus is not for everyone. You have to see it to reckognize it.. Big rat it seems the crew left their office in the morning to do a review and needed to be back before noon again. Very superficial flat not interested. As long as it looks good on the net weŕe ok!

Sean how was the boxter compared to your car plusses and minusses?

interesting topic, i drove a 250 for 4 years, then a BMW 320i for 2 and now in 3rd year with my IS300H. if i compare the accelleration between the 250 and the 300H it is safe to say the 250 will be faster to 60mph BUT the 300Hybrid definately feels faster to 50Mph! it are 2 different cars really, old school 6 pot and modern hybrid connected to 2.5 4 pot atkinson. The 250 engine was truly wonderful but below 4000rpm a bit weak. When accellerating under full throttle it sings through the gears with a wonderful sound and changes up and up until 60mph, It is fun although i found the car better suited for driving at 70% and no more. The Hybrid gives a totally different sensation as first of all it does not change gears as it is an CVT. So the experience is different. When in Sport floor the throttle and the accelleration is instant, it does not build up as the E-motor gives full power from the start. Then the engine kicks in and revs climb. I have no idea about the 0 to 50 time but it feels considerably faster than the 250 with a wide margin. After 50 it quickly runs out of steam however as the power from the e-motor disappears and the engine takes over. It could be my perception as i have no hard facts but after some getting used to i would now never change my IS for a 250. Time has moved on. And the BMW? strange but i can hardly recall that car, found it just a bag of bolts, very crude and agricultural

I dont think a lot of people do like the current Lexus infotainment systems and i find it the weakest point of the car. My ( 2015 IS300h Fsport) satnav is just dreadful, the menus labyrinthal and the entire architecture is very user unfriendly. The entire set up looks and feels heavily outdated and one or 2 generations old. Time has moved on and the VAG group and MB have upped the game with their digital dashboards and huge screens. Even in the bottom end of the market things have changed. I rented a tiny little runabout and apple carplay with touchscreen was built in, just pair your iphone and everybody can operate it. very very impressive. it is a shame that the big Toyota corporation does not invest in this more.

Interesting read Ben, spot on. Try this for rationalization; My car is half the price of an Aston, has far superior build quality, is way more exclusive, looks identical to the show stopper introduced at the automobile exhibition and is build by selected craftsmen in the most modern car factory in the world. However, would you rationalize or defend a beautiful sculpture? a great painting? your new house designed by your architect? I personally see the LC as a great example of automotive art, a real connoiseurs car that is not for everybody. The buildquality, the attention to detail, the interior , the sculpted body, the uncompromising polarizing design. All very very impressive. Any Lexus has an air of exclusivity on it but the LC... you now belong to an Uber exclusive club! Happy motoring and please please some pics when available.

Hear Hear! that is in the true spirit of the late and great oliver hardy and stan laurel. Remember those scenes with the T fords? ( for the young ones just go to you tube). I would love to see Linas hacking away at that tricycle ( which is a bit of a looser bike to be frank). linas make sure you have it on cam and post it up here! on a more serious note it is a serious problem, those anti social bikers and in inner cities cyclists. I almost hit a cyclist yesterday. At night, raining, pitch dark ,in a city, she was wearing black clothes no lights and driving in the wrong way of a one way street. i could hit the brakes in the last second. it scared the **** out of me. seems anarchy is taking over the streets..

Just curious, does anyone know if the RC will receive a facelift alike the IS or will Lexus leave it as is due to too slow sales?
-
Agree John and i think that technically it will be possible one day. I was more referring to noise and visual aspects. If my neighbor fiddles around with a drone it will most certainly drive me crazy. If there are plans for a large windmill somewhere the entire village starts an uproar. so just imagine all those lexus minicopters flying around... Then again, nobody knows how mass transportation will look in 50 years time, i for sure wont be around to witness!

How can the same 2 cars be so different
dutchie01 replied to Mr Vlad's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
could be true Steve. My IS250 always had lots of things i did not really like/was irritated/thought could be better. After 4 yrs the dealer gave me a brandnew one when old one in service. And gone was the unrest in the chassis, gone were the weak defrosters, squeeky windscreenwipers, weak seat heaters. did it feel like a different car? Close, for sure it was an improved version. shows car development does not stop after launch of a model! -
Good choice Ian! would love to see some pictures!

This sounds more like the drivetain issue that bothered the first IS300H cars! Mine was also affected. It was a strange phenomenon around 1800rpm or 80 - 100kmh there was a vibration in the entire drivetrain combined with a heavy metal sounding noise. always when the electric/petrol changeover took place. It was very annoying and ruined the entire ride. There was a thread on the IS forum started by D.Blacha and through that i found out there was a Toyota Service Bulletin at the Lexus dealers and if customers came forward changes would be made to the car. I went to the dealer and i believe they installed some sort of dampers, anyway since then all solved no noise no vibration. as the engines and total drivetrain are identical this could be thesame issue? Does anybody know on the GS forum if this also affected the GS models?
