  1. Maybe the new ES should not be compared to the old GS but judged as a new proposition from Lexus. It is a new car that will be part of the new Lexus line up that will mainly be crossovers/suvs like it or not. ES - LS - LC - UX - NX - RX. I have not seen the ES in the flesh, have not been inside nor driven it. I will therefore postpone my judgment until i have.
  2. Spot on doog! An old friend of mine once told me he bought a Rolex watch and nothing else as everybody would recognize it as an expensive thing. there you go. now here's a thought.. hypothetical but.. What if the F cars would be sold under a different name, like for instance, TOYOTA RCF that will then operate under a well marketed Toyota Racing Division or something. Tom what's your take on this?
  3. for me not really. what im interested in is a head to head comparison of the ES and the new Camry. What will be the price difference and if considerable, will the Camry eat the ES for breakfast?
  4. Bizarre if that is what really happened. Only other alternative is they did not fill up to the max. In both cases i would be on the phone tomorrowmorning! When i bring my car in for service i always top up fluids before and last time the BMW dealer invoiced me 2 ltr of windowfluid. When i asked they apologized and when i continued asking how this could happen they said sorry sir but we always put that on the invoice??? Anyway in your case maybe not deliberate but not sure what is worse, thinking you are working on a hybrid while it clearly isnt or trying to squeeze the last penny out of you?
  5. always good to have a healthy dose of doubt towards all dealers i thin. Can you ask how much oil they put in the car, if it is an oil change it will be the to the max level after which you can confront them. Not sure if the bottom of your dipstick is a bit dirty as the oilcolor gets darker but if it isnt this does not look like brandnew oil to me. Maybe there was no oilchange and they just looked at the oil, looks ok level ok so all well? was ther any form of oilchange on your invoice?
  6. Agree Glyn, most insurers nowadays only have 2 big departments, the Salesdept and the Claim Rejection Dept..
  7. im afraid not. It was his decision to expose the car to that level of water taking the risk the car would be severely damaged. I would be surprised if they pay..
  8. 2 feet oh dear.. Something tells me your insurance company will tell you they will not settle the bill as you brought the car in an unsuitable environment or something.....
  9. Zubair i am still trying to get my head around this. You said you drove through a puddle resulting in a write off engine and hybrid system. If this puddle is 1 mtr deep i can understand can you please give some more update on that? how deep was the water was it flowing over the hood when driving?
  10. i find this hard to believe, new engine and hybrid??? might as well buy anew car then. i would go for a second opinion, other dealer, lexus indie?
  11. Now here's a twist. In the news this morning in Holland. Due to the exploding car thefts caused by easy entry systems that can easily be intercepted, the insurance companies will no longer accept keyless entry as from next year. Cars with that system will not be insured. How about that?
  12. Not sure if that is correct. Yes the plane itself uses a lot of fuel but you will have to divide this by the 450 or so passengers on board. If my memory is still there i remember a plane to be more efficient than a car?
  13. You can. As long a you take a boat every now and then?
  14. Dont see that happening in the foreseeable future. Airtravel will remain as is, a form of transport for the masses. i remember the old days when only the happy few could afford it. Classical music in the plane and champagne aplenty glad those days are gone.
  15. people are taking the plane more frequent than ever. I do not know anyone that drives distances over 1000 kms as a EasyRyan flight is cheaper and faster. Innercity transport is different i would rather walk than depend on public transport, have not used a bus/metro/tram since i had my drivers licence and will never do so. I fanatically hate public transport and am prepared to pay for a taxi to prevent the traumatic experience of beeing transported in a way i do not wish.
  16. All major manufacturers are investing literally billions of dollars to develop and build EVś and it is a race who will bring out mainstream cars like the golf first. From next year these are expected to hit the market which means EV driving will move from trendsetters to general public. Issue is the lack of charging points mainly in cities so local governments will rapidly roll out new systems, here final testing underway with using lampposts as charging point. Next step will be a driving ban in innercities for combustion engines, some european cities already have this in place. Personally i think EV will rapidly be embraced by the majority and opposition will mainly come from old school motoring enthusiast, The moment that EV is cheaper to run, charging is possible in every street aplenty and resale value is stable it will have the majority. Car manufacturers seem to bet on exactly this.
  17. Seems like the facelift will bring more power to the RC-F? https://carbuzz.com/news/hallelujah-the-facelifted-lexus-rc-f-will-keep-its-wonderful-v8-engine
  18. divo is already sold out ! seems anything mega expensive and part of a limited run is sold within a seconds these days
  19. I recently changed to volvo ( noooo) which made me wonder.... suppose you just cannot choose Lexus, what brand would you go for ?? i have a history of Alfa, Saab, Lexus, what about you? Note this is about the brand not models.
  20. linas i sincerely hope you are trolling the forum here as otherwise i do fear for your wellbeing
  21. Overtaking a string of cars is irresposible driving imo as only the first you overtake will see you coming but not the rest. If you fly past 6 or 7 cars it will only be time before you loose your licence or end up in a ditch.
  22. Linas everything over 8 secs 0-60 is outright dangerous . You serious? i fully agree and hope those irresponsible motorists will be fined and their cars be made illegal. That will also solve all trafficjams as 70% of vehicles will have to be destroyed. long time ago i heard such nonsense. An italian once explained me his drivingstyle when entering roundabouts or highways in rome. He said - you have to enter full throttle and make other drivers afraid so they will stop for you!- propably the other side if the scale but each to their own?
  23. Having sufficient power creates a more relaxed drive as you just know the possibillity is there to quickly escape a potentially dangerous situation. If you dont have any reserve the only options left are to brake, turn left or right and thats it. So, in that aspect powerful cars are safer which leads to the next question how much power is needed for that and where does it become unsafe to handle. One does not need a lot of power to belong to the 10% fastest motors out there but responsibly handling a 500hp car is something else. Which brings me to overtaking on B roads, trucks caravans etc. This is the fastest way of getting into trouble quickly just ask any ambulance or police officer that has been cleaning up the mess even only once. Having a powerful car does make it easier to go for that hole and swiftly make progress but patience is gold sometimes. power reserve in 30 - 70 is what you need here.
  24. e) stop at the nearest pub and order a pint
  25. not really... i would be eternally grateful for the engineers that prevent me from hitting a child because of a mistake i made.
