  1. Vasileios, might be an idea to get legal advice and ask a lawyer to send a very strong letter to VW. They did not stick to their part of the agreement in supplying you a car that is fully in accordance to what you purchased and that could be reason to cancel the purchase? Good luck and keep us posted!
  2. One thing that has always worried me is that non Germans ( including many Dutch) think they HAVE to drive 200kmh on the Autobahn... Besides some parts of the Autobahn if traffic and weatherconditions permit it is pretty complicated nowadays to go 200 or more. Heavy policing, radarzones, and even in France private companies that are allowed to catch speeders make it almost impossible or very expensive. In France you have to pay NOW or the car will be confiscated until you arrive with the money. Anyway, coming back to the first post, maybe once i would try topspeed with an NX but its not the right car for that, you bring it outside of its comfort zone. Like Linas says a German with a big diesel ( or petrol) would be more suited to cruise at 200 for hours on end. Not an NX.
  3. That is not my observation of Autobahn use Linas. More and more areas are beeing restricted in speed mainly caused by ever increasing number of cars on the road. This also causes traffic jams mainly in the Ruhr area and around big cities. On top of that roadworks are a big nuisance. Not effective and it is quite common to have 1 lane blocked for miles without works going on at all. Also restrictrions caused by noise are common as well. If you want to have a top speed run you will have to look for a free stretch, Sunday morning or late at night will do best. I see an average speed of 120/150kmh with some 150/180 in quieter areas. The occasional jet fighter will fly past but i sincerely think this is getting less and less. Years of neglect have made the autobahn a shadow of the past
  4. Seems one only needs; 1 passenger - 1 jacket - 1 pair of white gloves - 1 whistle. Now, who is the first one giving it a try? No film is no proof! ( only joking of course!)
  5. Just found this thread and still a little puzzled about the first post. Doing 200kmh and beeing surprised about fuel consumption? A bit like... I was doing 200kmh on the autobahn with my Merc G-Wagen G63 AMG with 100 bottles of Malbec in the booth ( in case i need it) and 8 wintertyres and wheels and the car was doing 6 mpg. Can this be correc
  6. Cycles of 50 years seem too long or too short in todays economy John. On one side Tesla reminds me of Tulip Mania and the old economy companies ,mostly family owned, seem to stear through the crisis reasonably well. Different companies different values. Shareholder value against medium term growth. Tesla worth more than Toyota, really?? Iphones selling like hot cakes for 1200 Pounds, really?? Billionaires had a great year, really?? Its a mentality thing. Trying to earn as much as possible regardless of the consequences against creating value for the company and passing it on to the next generation. Japan is known for the latter and maybe that is also the explanation for their conservatism in the automitive industry?
  7. sorry just realize this is television. I cant see BBC4 overhere only 1 and 2 im afraid..
  8. Thanks for the tip John hope my wife will allow me to listen as i have not done that for decades! Only tune in when driving..
  9. Thanks David. I have just downloaded the app will give me something to do over the next couple of days!
  10. Success is measured in Money John. And does not there lay the difference in philosphy between understated elegance and the move over as i am rich brigade?
  11. John, sometimes i wonder what happened to old school decency. I just cannot get my head around the way some companies treat their customers ( Tesla alike). Lexus seems to live in a different world!
  12. Out of curiosity how is your warranty on the ID3? I just found out to my astonishment that VW in The Netherlands is providing a 4 year warranty on all models but with exception of electric vehicles. It is is writing that all ID3 models produced in 2020 will have a 2 year warranty that also cannot be extended. Even replacement vehicles are not covered and will be at cost of buyer. They clearly saw this one coming! How is the warranty in the UK? What they are doing is deliberately pushing underdeveloped models in the market and let the customers be the Beta testers. If there are problems they quickly seem to close the door and leave you outside. I now see why the 2020 models are called first edition... To me this is still thesame mentality that caused dieselgate.. On a positive note the mother of all software updates that will end all issues seems ready according to the German press.
  13. Have they given you a replacement vehicle?
  14. Why would anyone be interested in a diesel Lexus?? It is against everything that the brand stands for and the only reason the car came to market was opportunism from the marketingdepartment. Diesels then ruled the company car market and toyota had an engine available so lets try to get some sales. Engineers then were dead against it as the engines just destroyed the Noise Vibration Harshness philosophy Lexus was known for. On top of that reliability proved to be way below Lexus standard and after some time the model was axed. It did more damage to the brand than justified complaints alone... I drove an IS 250 for 4 years and 100k miles and nothing ever went wrong. No vibrations from the engine, buttersmooth , super silent and enough power. Low end torque to be desired but from 3500 rpm enough. A true joy to glide through town, the gearbox matches the engine in smoothness and acceleration from standstill is like there is a cloud between your shoe and the pedal. Linear, smooth, effortless. Lifting a mediocre diesel engine into a Lexus was a mistake. A Lexus withe a diesel engine is not a Lexus.
  15. Search on Linkedin for Lexus Switzerland and Lexus Europe. You can then see the profiles of all employees that are on it and even send them a direct mail. Also mailaddresses will be available from the entire European management including general and regional managers. I am sure this could take your case up a level.
  16. Maybe you did visit the dealer before 10.00 hr in which case they have not arrived yet, or between 1200 and 1330 when there is lunch or after 1500 when they left for home?
  17. Absolutely. The Genesis brand will be available as from next year but also here pricing is not available yet. Looks great, the Koreans have come a long way!
  18. Yes it was John. As much as i would like to go for Lexus again there is just no model available in the line up for me at the moment. I would like to go full EV or at least plug in and i do like the styling of the Audi. Mind you still not seen the productionversion so could be the bland Q3 type styling. Anyway great interior and build quality but the current software issues within VW scare me off big time. Also the Toyota RAV4 Prime plug in is very interesting. The new NX will be based on this but i am not sure if it will come next year and it might be too expensive for me..
  19. Apart from Tesla and European manufacturers below Chinese companies will be available soon. Pretty serious stuff and way beyond putting an MG badge on an outdated EV that will only sell over price. Just have a look! www.nio.com en.xiaopeng.com lixiang.com So, what if.. those cars look great, everything works, no software issues, good range, 5 star crash ratings and very competitively priced?
  20. The car seems to be underdeveloped and not ready for market release yet. "dead" ID3s can be found on the net so this does not only affect your car James. The dealer will not have a clue what to do now and can only follow instructions coming from Germany. Can you still hand it back? Leave the keys on the table and demand a full return of your money? VW is playing an extremely dangerous game by bringing these cars to market too soon. As the ID family is critical for VWś future it will be a disaster bigger than dieselgate if potential buyers start ignoring the brand. I like the styling and package of the ID3 and 4 as well and am seriously thinking of going full electric next year. Think i will wait until toyota/lexus realease a good alternative though..
  21. And for those of you thinking Toyota is sleeping and not developing BEV's https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Technology/Toyota-s-game-changing-solid-state-battery-en-route-for-2021-debut https://electrek.co/2020/12/11/toyota-electric-car-solid-state-battery-10-min-fast-charging/ Fascinating stuff!
  22. For those of you with some time to spare. Interesting article about Tesla. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jimcollins/2020/12/01/tesla-sales-have-fallen-off-a-cliff-in-europes-greenest-car-markets-in-2020/?sh=4468d1a28724 And some on the ID3 software issues. https://insideevs.com/news/451790/vw-id3-multiple-bugs-mind-the-explanation/
  23. I have always been told by the generation above me ( wise old men) to not buy a brandnew model and wait at least a year for the child deseases to disappear. This was in the analogue mechanical area. Appears it is still the case and maybe even more so. VW will get it right eventually i have no doubts about that but buying an ID3 or4 does not seem to be the best idea now...
