  1. Tell Sell comes to mind? Buy now! but wait it gets better, not only you get this but also that and that and that!!
  2. ooof i give up! Alfa coupe?
  3. I had both, drove the 250 for 4 years and the 300 for 3. I loved the 250 and liked the 300. Or the other way around.. Both great cars in their own right but both have shortcomings. 250 feels special, buildquality excellent lovely smooth refined sixpot but no torque al low revs. cramped in the back and now really showing its age. 300H different drivetrain. Emotor gives instant torque from standstill and 4pot takes over after that. Not a lot between them in speed but it is s different experience also caused by the CVT. In town or B-roads a great silent motor with enough torque and speed. Better fuel economy and more interior space. Chassis much better. In short a much newer design you will not regret it. However, if the choice is 450 H or 300H it will be a no brainer for me. The GS is the perfect sleeper and it definately feels several steps up to the 300!
  4. Citroen CX
  5. I never ever check my car just hop in and drive off. I DO check literally everything on a hire car though including the state of the tires and, after a bad experience, if the windscreen wipers are there.... ( really happened once in France started raining and all i had was the two stalks, no bloody wipers they were nicked! I soon found out that the droplets disappear when driing over 140km...)
  6. yes all this will work fine. And dont forget Lights Lights Lights. Thieves do hate that they will go for another house. Finally cameras. hang them in clear sight so the low life can spot them. A dog also helps. Mind you all these help to deter the occasional burglar, the one on the fly looking for an opportunity. The professional artists are a different kind they will enter whatever house they want. Maybe a flame thrower connected to a sensor might help for these?
  7. and that will take years if not decades. my current volvo drives me crazy with ghostbraking and steer corrections. If it is not possible on the highway how on musks earth can they do it in innercities with bikes, pedestrians, trams, cars, drunks, and all sorts of unexpected events??
  8. At least its an electronic turd! The name E-Tron is gold in my opinion albe it with a questionable history. Most of us will know the experimental hollywoodmovie with that name but what does moneytron tell you? great reading if you have some time. A company owned by a Belgian guy that made millions, owned 108 ferraris had an F1 team ( onyx) and of course ended up in jail!
  9. I would put this down to coincidence John..
  10. how about parking the car outside for 10 mins? and for the 20 quid you buy a nice brandy can watch it dry whilst enjoying yourself!
  11. a paper towel and Luke warm water work just as good. shows you that not every invention is an answer to a question?
  12. Good morning Linas, had a good weekend?
  13. Well, seems the future has already landed in The Netherlands then. Last year the speedlimit on highways was reduced to 100 kph for environmental reasons. This is controlled by radarcontrolled zones of some 5 km. You enter, an infrared scan of your licenceplate is taken speed is measured. This is then done several times and when leaving the zone. When driving over the limit it is 100% secure you will receive a fine in the post the next day. 10 euros per km over but more when over 10km. All is fully automated and brings in millions per year. Driving nowadays has become utterly boring and i am not sure if safety will increase. Most people set the car at 104km and just sit it out, drive like zombies not active anymore not watching mirrors etc. Anyway it is what it is . System will now be rolled out on most B roads as well. Whats next? Government actively limiting the speed of your car?
  14. its about the content Vlad!
  15. I guess its all about perception and where you live. Rural countryside versus inner city. Crowded Tokio versus empty Texas. Some cars are seen as civilized ( Lexus RX) and some less so ( BMW X6). 10 years ago there were cars and SUV's. In the states they invented " trucks" as well and those are bought in huge numbers as apparently over there fuel consumption and vehicle safety are not on the forefront of buyers. This side of the world the entire automobile market is currently like a tumble dryer, everything is mixed and upside down. Cars, Cross overs, SUV, SRV or whatever the marketing dept comes up with. The EV development means taller cars anyhow to make room for the batteries. So a full EV like a VW ID4. Its heavy and big so is it an SUV? A mini countryman is considerably smaller but sold as an SUV? I fully agree with you Martin the term has become obsolete as it is overtaken by time. It's all down to marketing now.
  16. I am 60, look like 70 and feel like 80
  17. 42 years ago my Ladder brought me to Spain for a well deserved socialist holiday where i drank socialist beers met socialist girlfriends discussed socialism with French students and spend 2 weeks in civilised drunkenness before driving all the way back. In those days everybody seemed "red" At uni, in politics, in my neighbourhood. All those years later only the French seem to keep it up! The ladder by the way was not in the best of shapes. Steering was a bit off... let the wheel go meant in instant left turn. Cant remember what happened to it but likely changed for a 2CV.
  18. Every man is equal and some are more equal.. But whats wrong with a Lada?
  19. Available in 2025. - 536 bhp. Available now. - 577 bhp. Seems South Korea is moving faster than Japan?
  20. The Toyota Sienna, a model sold in the states has a built in vacuum cleaner. Now how about that?
  21. The market for small ( or big ) sport coupes or convertibles is almost dead. Everybody likes them, the motoring press continuously writes and raves about them but the sad fact is that absolutely nobody buys them. The LC does not sell, the GT86 ( JV between Toyota / Subaru with a Subaru boxer engine) does not sell, the BMW Z4 does not sell. The numbers do not add up. If Toyota did not team up with BMW there would not be a Supra nor would there be a new Z4 the car would be killed off. The development costs are just too high for the potential number of cars, no business case. That is the sad truth nowadays. In the seventies cars could literally be developed on a shoestring budget ( or no budget). If you are interested go to you tube and look for davide cironi. An italian journo that had interviews with the old timers running alfa, lambo, fiat etc. Mindboggling how it went in those days, cars like the countach or stratos or 155 just an idea of one person developed in a shed without budget whatsoever. No longer. budgets, forecasts, safetyregulations, emissions long term objectives the list goes on and on. Result is that volume producers will only produce volume cars. If a model falls below the threshhold it will not happen. Unless of course it serves a marketingpurpose halo type of car. Like the LC or Yaris GR. Maybe we should all go out there and but a nice coupe?
  22. I have a friend in Paris that alway kicks a dent in it with his foot when getting a new car, no joke, he told me that at least the first dent is his... needless to say he also never washes or services the car at all.
  23. I like it, it is a refreshing to see a car like that in a sea of cross overs and suvs. Would i buy one, no i wouldnt just like almost nobody would i guess, coupes have become unsellable. Yes its a BMW under the skin but so what, as long as you lease or buy with warranty you are fine.
  24. A Jamie Oliver Flavour Shaker? Seriously? does a thing like that exist? I would like to be in that marketingteam deciding where they can stick the name on to increase sales. For me nothing too serious, just almost every lamp, light and interior decoration article one can find. They last max one year but that more has to do with my wife i guess..
