  1. Nor last month, last year, 10 years ago. Waste of raw materials those cars.
  2. Vlad, try the Volvo Owners Club. remembers me of primary school with a head teacher correcting everything and every little off topic is NOT accepted. Stand corrected or you will be banned! On technical questions the mod supported by the most senior members always give thesame reply.. read the handbook first. It is the most boring forum on earth and definately not enjoyable at all. The LOC on the other hand stands out not only because the free wheeling threads but mainly about the general knowledge and attitude of its members. It seems to me most members have at least been to school for some years? Respect is another fine premium, we will disagree and sometimes make fun of each other but just visit the BMW OC to see how it can go wrong badly. agression agression. For me the current LOC is almost a daily read and i would not change a thing.
  3. Fully agree ! If we fill up here at an unmanned petrolstation you slide in your card and your bank then blocks an amount of 130 Euro. Regardless of what you tank and not enough in your account the card will not work. Anyhow new problem with todays prices. 130 is not enough to fill your tank!! So the pump stops and if you still have to fill a quart you have to repeat the procedure. Many many complaints..
  4. Oh how i love this forum, every thread is guaranteed to spin out of control.
  5. If its EMP time there is nothing more to worry about, end of the road. At the moment i would worry more about the petrol-prices especially with a big heavy drinking V8!
  6. Just looked it up today another 0.05 cents increase so 2.57/ltr. what will tomorrow bring
  7. based on the 2.52/ltr euro i did some maths for the regular 1500 kms down south and back so total 3000 + some driving around lets say 3400km total. Starts to become a slight issue.. If the price in May is another euro on top better take the plane. What about you guys, road trips will be postponed canceled or no probs?
  8. What?? Sorry John but that sound incredibly cheap to me 1 litre of 98 in Holland goes for Euro 2.52/ltr at the moment!
  9. I dont see a quick return to normality Malc. Russia is the petrolstation of the world and taking them out of the loop will create havoc on the world energy markets as you now see happening. I also do not see a quick end to the war as Russia seems to destroy itself and Nato and the USA are likely not to believe their eyes. Russian army a joke, Russia economically imploding and Nato all of a sudden stronger than ever. Some will like to extend that momentum until Russia is at its knees and then yes Putin will be gone. I expect petrol to jump to new records on a daily basis for at least another 2 weeks.
  10. Back on topic. Anyones wild guess where this is going? What will the price per litre be in 2 - 4 weeks time??
  11. Well i think i do, but maybe we reach different conclusions? Following your line of thought i struggle in finding the practicality of it. The current investment in the automotive world on EV transition is roughly 600 Billion Euro and rising and just how can this be financed through governments with tax payers money under the table. How can this be kept out of the open? Also not sure if Moore and Harper are the most reliable source of info..
  12. Sounds like a real possibility for the " Battery Refurb Industry ". This will be big volume business and there are already some small specialized shops refurbing/repairing mainly Tesla batteries. If i were Kwikfit i would buy some of those and roll out their knowledge over the branches.
  13. So, the various governments are financing the EV transition by paying the automotive industry?
  14. Eric, do you really believe there is an international secret agreement between governments that is driving the push for EVs? Any proof of what and how? i am seriously interested in why you think that?
  15. I have attached a vid of Teslabjorn as i read a lot of misinformation about electric cars by people that do not own one. If you have time and feel like it it could be an idea to check out Bjorns channel, a bit nerdy perhaps but factual and EV only. I do understand that if the charging infrastructure is not there it can be a challenge to owne one unless living in an urban environment. Tesla owners will think otherwise due the the supercharger network of course. BTW The Tesla chargers are now free for non teslas in The Netherlands see where Musk is going? Here the infrastructure is well available and electric cars are common place, no debate really. The industry will have some challenges coming up in some years to come mainly when the 1st gen batteries reach the end of life will be interssting to fiollow that one.
  16. as long as you dont disagree or irritate or go against him Malc then you would be looking for your head that is chopped off
  17. So do i ! Same logic. Drive as fast as you can to the petrol station as the tank is almost empty!! and yes finances do play a big role here. In the relatively small country of Holland the total sum of speeding tickets in 2019 was around 400 million euro. This increased dramatically after the fully automatic radar controlled highways were switched on. 100km allowed. 104 km is 4 too fast is 40 euro next morning in your letterbox. This is controlled by the ministry of FINANCE and a big cash cow. Not sure about the UK but those figures will be much higher?
  18. Why don't people get it?? The shorter a trip lasts the less pollution there is!! If i can do a blast in 20 minutes and my neighbor obeying the speed limit takes 40 minutes my engine will be running half of his time, so??
  19. That is not how pricing is established. its about supply and demand. Once the supply chain is disturbed it can take a long time before balance is restored which equates in high pricing. Russia is the petrolstation of the world and any hike in supply from them will have a big effect on world markets.
  20. You spend 20/30/40/50k on a car and have to ask for a full tank?? I find this a prime example of NOT putting the customer first. Disgraceful and not one argument will set this. Ryanair comes to mind . Does Lexus HQ allow this?
  21. In this case i really see the blame on the eastern front and nowhere else. Gas went up 50% and oil is expected to go to 130 usd per barrel. This would not have happened if Putins boys would have stayed at home.
  22. Prices of especially aluminium, wheat, oil, gas and petrol will increase rapidly over the next weeks. Alu and wheat from ukraine and oil and gas from Russia. then followed by oil derived products like plastics and basically everything else because of increased productioncosts. The uncertainty and economical instability will influence everything else. Again, everything else. We are entering an unknown now whilst still suffering from chaos in supply chains due to covid. We can thank Russia for that.
  23. would be great. hope we can fill them up in the future
  24. Couldnt agree more. Just one example.. Where i live its a bit of swampland and until 15 years ago we were literally surrounded by tens of thousands of frogs. The noise at night was incredible. And here it is... they are gone! nowhere to be found! I do understand if 1 frog leaves, or 10. But all of them? Coincidence?? dont think so!!!11!!!
