  1. Better fill the tanks now as prices are likely to go up again. Oil is trading higher today as OPEC will limit the amount of oil in order to push prices up this will affect petrol. Russia closed the nordstream to germany and gas shot up 30%. Electricity already at recordhigh and climbing. And the winter has not even started yet!
  2. Malc in the grander scale of things your beloved LS does not play a role at all. just look at the worldwide events. China opening up coal burning power plants each day, russia having the most toxic chemical facilities in the world and just burning off gas in huge volumes each day as they cant sell it. All of Asia just throwing plastics in rivers that turn in absolute dumps, the middle east and africa where environment is not in the top 5 of important things and so on and so on. However we have to start somewhere don't we?
  3. Regarding population reduction, any targets published already?
  4. Question for who knows the answer. In my industry it is strictly forbidden to agree price increases with your competitors thus forming a cartel. If proven companies can get fines in percentage of turnover and guilty executives can end in prison. Oil seems to have different rules with the oil cartel doing it in the open without any form of punishment. Why?
  5. Something tells me they would not tell anyone if they would mind..
  6. Too easy Philip, your not getting off the hook that easy! Come on, what are your suggestions?
  7. So, as the current politicians are regarded as useless baggage, if any of you would be in a position of power to solve/positively influence or handle the current situation. What would be your suggestions?
  8. If you vote for a different party will that change anything?
  9. I remember that too.. sleeping with blankets and my dads wintercoat on top of the bed. Only one coal stove heating the livingroom and that was it. Yes ice in the house in the winter was normal. Also normal the firebrigade storming through the streets to put out a coal started fire. Not everything was better in the old days.. I really think i have the solution to solve the climate crisis and nobody talks about it. We have to change the climate! I guess the best way of doing that is exactly what we like to do, dont change anything and keep on going. So where is the problem?
  10. There are so many things to moan about nowadays that i cannot make a choice!
  11. Exactly that is what the majority of shoppers do. Go to the shop but dont buy there, this is the challenge for shopowners how do you get the sale? The large webshops now start to open high street shops as well to lure customers in that then buy online ( even possible IN the shop) Regarding cars it is already moving to the internet as well. Manufacturers will bypass the dealer and go direct. Dealers that until now made their little margin on maintenance and sale of liquids - oil, fluids - will have to come up with a way to survive in the transformation to electric. Most of them are likely to disappear and i see manufacturers opening up experience centers covering a certain area, say 50 / 100 km and the local village garage as winners here, the rest will have a hard time. By the way i had good experiences with dealers but also some terrible ones, i would never ever set foot in their premises again let alon buy a car there!
  12. Russia in general, the Russian government in special, the Russian energycompanies like Gazprom especially. The way the Russian army is deploying WW2 tactics, the FSB having an iron grip on Russia and its citizens. Putin and his children, the oligarch enablers and so on, have a minute?
  13. Not sure Malc if there are a lot of them around on the LOC, really interested in knowing this, Anyone? And if there are how many of them will dive into a high quality read about prostate issues? Statistics statistics. Anyway an incredibly interesting thread and i have learned more about my enlarged prostate than in talks with my GP. Again it shows the versatility and deep level of knowledge of the LOC and its members.
  14. Just dont wash it at all. It will gather dust but as we all know there will be loads of rain around the corner.
  15. It was this interview 4 years ago that had me checking my PSA values. Like with Stephen i got a call from my doctor to report at a specialist for an internal check up, this was to be an internal "touch up" only. I had to report at Dr Barbosa, never forget the name. I was expecting a large hairy middle eastern type with big hands and a loud voice. How different it would be. In front of me was a 27 year old supermodel in a white coat that presented herself by saying"hello Mr Dutchie, i am Dr Barbosa.. I will not bore you any further but it was quite an embarrasing adventure!
  16. Those that will take Picolax, we salute you! hilarious piece! Come to think of it, When Ukraine could get Picolax in the Russian troops food all would be over in 24 hrs!!
  17. hah! they told me it could take 2 hrs before its active but Sir please can you make sure you are close to the lavatories? Nothing happened for exactly 2 hrs but then....
  18. i had one last year did not notice a thing as they put me to sleep for an hour, woke up when all over. did not like the 24 hr laxation trip though....
  19. I once read an interview with a car thief about this topic and he said the only time he walked away was when the licence plate number is etched in all the windows. This means he has to replace all windows before selling the car on which is too costly/cumbersome. If they are in it for the parts though....
  20. My wife had one, a car ahead of its time and completely aluminium. When it rained it was like beeing in a caravan. I think it was only 850kgs and the design was like nothing else on the road. However reliability was dreadful with all sorts of issues but electronics were the number one nightmare. The engine just died when driving without warning so no servo or steering help. I honestly did not believe my wife until it happened to me when overtaking a car on a b road ( lucky she wasnt there!). Oh and the rear wheels would jam/block stop turning when driving. Apparently because the drum brakes did not need servicing.cleaning.. Anyway we changed to an A3 that also was a total ****box on wheels again with all sorts of electronical issues. These were new cars mind you! Fast forward 15 year and we just bought a Q2, 1 yr old with 30k km. and i was not surprised that after only 6 months the driveshaft was gone. And the wheelbearings.. Vorspung durch technik anyone?
  21. One of the more interesting cars from a design point it is literally engineering on a cm2. Steeringrack, engine placing, gearbox, shocks all had to be developed from scratch i guess it did teach toyota a thing or two about small car design. Note this is not a micro car that traditionally are simple in lay out and design the IQ really is special and for that is well sought after. When sold new it was more expensive than the bigger Yaris. Reminds me a bit about the Audi A2 another engineering masterpiece. Get one you wont regret it! ( and will be able to sell it without a loss..)
  22. Its scary to say the least but sometimes when you approach a busy junction in town and you notice the trafficlights do not work ( orange light constantly blipping) it just seems that all runs smoother.. On the other hand i would not like them to roll this out country wide also not because Drachten is a small village and there will be a different type of motorist there than in big city centres it could lead to some form of anarchy, better to stick to rules and regulations?
  23. https://bigthink.com/the-present/want-less-car-accidents-get-rid-of-traffic-signals-road-signs/ The Drachten experiment... Take away ALL traffic signs/lights in a village!
  24. i owned both the IS 250 and the 3 series touring and the BMW is lighter on its feet and definately more balanced on high speeds. The Lexus is a fine driver when driven at 70% but start pushing it it soon falls apart. Slow steering, weak brakes light at the front in high speeds and the rear can bite ( not from the power as it feels underpowered). Great car and especially the supersmooth 6pot makes the difference but a sports car it isnt. The 3 seems made to cruise for hours at 200kmh plus at the autobahn. It is the last 30% that lexus never managed also not in the IS300H. Both are great cars by the way but by no means sports or autobahn cruisers.
  25. Just so you can all have a great weekend. 1 litre of 95 in VENEZUELA will set you back exactly 0.02 euro. That is 2 eurocents. i have already ordered my 24 litre chieftain to go shopping!
