Test Driving an RC
dutchie01 replied to CorkVilla's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
Exactly that is why all cars come in the same color nowadays. If i look outside is see all shades of grey from silver to black and some dark blue or white. Everything looks the same. It is my personal opinion but for a car as striking as the RC ( or LC for that matter) i would always go for the color i adore and red or blue or wonderful metallic darkgreen will do just fine. Some of us will be old enough to remember the 70/80s. the wide spread of colors on the road? Orange! Yellow Red Lightblue Green everything!! -
Say it quietly - - cyclist season is coming :-(
dutchie01 replied to GMB's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
I think that is the core of the "cycling problem". In lots of cases its pure anarchy, no rules, no regulations for me me me as i am above all that on my bike. As, like with us overhere, the cyclist is always defended by law in case of an accident and found innocent even when driving drunk, blindfolded, against traffic, on the pavement at night without lights and hits your car YOU are to blame and will have to pay all damage. I really think that has contributed to the lack of morale and attitude of cycling in general. On the other hand if you drive your bike to work in the city or from village to village and will get overtaken by cars and lorries if you are invisible who is the enemy? Cars and bikes should not be on thesame road, never. -
i am looking for a new machine, full automatic bean. Tempting to go for Jura but dont know enough about them to justify that amount yet. Do you have any advise?

France before the war the government launcheda campain to reduce drinking of wine. They did this by printing posters with a warning to not drink more than 3 litres of wine. Per Day!. In the fifties this was reduced to 1 litre again per day. Below a pic of a schoollunch before the war where you guessed it red wine was served.

Duvel, one of the most dangerous beers around. It will hit you if you drink it as a normal beer you will need a taxi home if lucky. The way they drink it in Belgium tells it all. Glass from the freezer, cold beer slowly slowly poored into the glass leaving the residue in the bottle and then well, just take your time. Nip it taste it and enjoy it. Slow food, slow drink and you will be fine. Cross the line and you will regret it.

For daily use a nice bottle of white Spanish Verdejo will do just fine. Change it to cava every now and then. For me wine only, no longer drink beer fills me up immensely and stay away from the hard liquor, too strong. Used to like brandy but stopped years ago. Seems the body changes with the years!

Never trust a car salesman. They wont do anything with a 3500 Pound car just buy and sell and hope to make some profit. Best to check the oil yourself. Take out the dipstick, is it at level? look at the color is it nice light brown and smell it, does it smell like oil? Or is it dark to almost black and smells burnt? If so and they tell you it was just serviced walk away immediately. Unscrew the fillercap and look for residue or strange whiter color oil sticking around, if so could be water in oil so again walk away. The six cylinder engines are rock solid but they do need proper maintenance. Good luck with the test

Is it worth buying a Lexus over a Toyota
dutchie01 replied to Chris UXe's topic in Lexus General Discussions
It will all be down to money i guess. Every company has to make some profit to survive and although i do not know the figures i am almost sure the early cars must have been loss making as the development costs were phenomenal. They did put Lexus on the map though as most reliable champion of NVH. Since the previous IS ( i had both the 250 and later the 300H) i feel there was more Toyota creeping in. Cost savings for sure. Not only Lexus but in all brands. Audi is mentioned. They are known for impeccable interiors well just sit in the electric Q4. It looks and feels cheaper than a golf or even Polo. Why? well they must have spend their money somewhere else. However, with Toyota moving up in cabin quality and styling and Lexus slowly gliding down what will be the position in the market for the brand?? -

Ever heard of a "fatbike"? They are the latest hit in Holland especially with children. Electric bikes that suppose to do 20kmh max but are very easy tunable. Kids of 11/12 yrs old are literally racing through the city no idea about rules just no idea what they are doing at all. Lots of accidents and most likely new legislation will bring a minimum age of 16 plus helmet. That brings me to a top 5 of Most Irritating Cyclists. 1. A group of middle aged man in lycras thinking they own the road. Overtaking will start a fight. 2. Speed pedelecs. Allowed on the road things can go up to 60 kmh. Overtaking suicidal 3. Trendy cargo bikes built to transport your kids. Statussymbol nr1 costing 7000 euro. Innercity yuppy moms favorite. Overtaking impossible 4. Elderly citizens on an electric bike as it is so easy. They just fall off, always and think they drive their car. If you overtake they will hit your car. 5. Fatbikes. Like mosquitos all over the place. Brainless and highly dangerous. Overtaking not possible they will change direction every 3 seconds. Just found out they still make them!! https://www.raleigh.co.uk/gb/en/bike-knowledge/meet-the-2023-raleigh-chopper-classic-but-with-a-few-tweaks/ -
When i started work long ago offices had a clock, clocking you in and out and time was measured you were disciplined if 10 mins late etc. Time spend in the office was what it was all about. Nowadays this has drifted away and its about job performance that is measured not so much how you get there. If your work is Ok all is fine. From employers point of view there will be truly massive cost savings, no need for big offices. ( my sister works at Deloite in a 26 story building all Deloite and during covid already the rent was canceled, now only 5 stories of which one is meeting/restaurant spaces). Employee will have much more flexibility great for young families as it gives the option to work for some hours when the kids are in bed etc. However it all depends of the role, the job you have. easier in accounts, impossible in production.

And it also opens another discussion. LBX vs CHR. Without testdrive i would prefer the chr it just looks great and is a bigger car. The lbx is very expensive for what it is what do you think? -

It all reminds me of back in the days when i was skiing and snowboarding came along. I hated those snowboarders with gusto. Interfering with my relaxed skiing technique going from bar to bar. The snowboarders did hate the skiiers for thesame reason. Cars and bicycles should not be on thesame road its just way too dangerous. oh and i hate cats as well -

Who is up for an experiment. Get a bike and drive around town for 30 minutes. See how you think of motorists.... -
Toyota/Lexus Abandon Hydrogen!
dutchie01 replied to Spacewagon52's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Sorry Malc but i fear Hydro for cars is a dead end and will never see mainstream adoption because there are just too many problems. More realistic could be the latest developments of Toyota that are working on the next generation petrol/hybrid engines. Apparently they are aiming for a carbon neutral one now that would be something ? -

I had a Volvo XC40 and loved it. The image of the brand suits me like Lexus understated not offensive or German. And another topic, safety. It seems a marketing cliché but i was involved in a massive accident where the car landed on its roof with 60km/h a total write off but the roof was not pushed in one mm and all doors opened without problem. Had a V60 and now XC60 plug in. Totally reliable. The golf is really good to drive, it just works feels nimble and with great build quality. It is a different car to the Volvo which is higher and easier to get in and out of. Choices choices.. -
I think you have a point here. When i was in my twenties i loved to go to the office. Mainly for the office girls and of course stupid humour with the guys and a drink or two after hours. Now in my sixties i almost hate going in. So many young people that think differently and seem to have a different work ethic than us old dinosaurs. I cannot work from home as my wife just cant stop talking and questioning what i do why and what did he say kind of thing. I rent and office in a business centre 10 mins from home. Oh the joy! peace and quiet!

Not a movie but the latest episode of Bald and Bankrupt. Seatbelts on!

i think i prefer a lexus wing mirror......

I could be misunderstanding this but lets have a theoretical accident where the 12v battery is disconnected and the fuel tanker that hit you is about to engulf your car in flames. How do you get out?
-
What a load of total rubbish. Does it also mention that you have to dance around the car 5 times at full moon whilst holding a burning candle in both hands? I do think it is a disgrace that a major manufacturer leaves you standing like that. I have read on numerous occasions that 12v batteries are a real issue in todays cars with more electronics than a space shuttle. They. Go. Dead. When parked at the airport for 2 wks, when only driving short city trips etc. So WHY is this not expected and a solution at hand? WHY does Lexus European assistance sends you the local batteryman not knowing what to do? This is the lack of service expected from a Chinese BEV producer but Lexus? I would collect all expenses you made including loss of time and write to the m/d of Lexus UK his name is Chris Hayes contact details to be found at LinkedIn.

2024 Lexus LBX (Premium Plus)
dutchie01 replied to TomLC500h's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
Download it and print it? BTW the car looks really muscular from that angle like it -
Everything is relative. Many moons ago i had a brandnew 3 series estate that was completely stripped 2 times with an interval of 2 months. Professional thieves that know what they do and go for the airbag/aircon/satnav/controllers etc etc. These parts are then offered for sale as demand is huge as there are more 3 series about than mondeos or vectras nowadays. In case of a UX they wont nick it for parts as where to sell them? They wont ship it to Africa as , well its too small. So i would feel safe driving around and leaving the car unlocked overnight! If you like it go for it life is too short to drive boring cars.
