  1. Thanks buddy I will give it a crack when it stops raining
  2. Hi Krzysztof Yeah I did think about heating it up however I am sure there is a rubber seal in there somewhere I don't think I want to cook and replace. :)
  3. Hi guy's last week I had a go at changing the timing belt on my 2002 gs300, it doesn't look to bad a job until of course I came up against the mother of all stuck bolts yup crankshaft bolt. we used no tried a impact wrench electric, battery and air. Then the much dreaded breaker bar bumpo starter method which had worked lovely on my 430's crankshaftbolt. I have even rang lexus to get the service history just in case the timing belt had already been changed and I could just turn my head away and maybe bury it very firmly and deeply in the sand but alas it was not to be. I saw a hack video I am thinking of trying out but reckless as I am I'm concerned how reckless I can be. Has anyone tried this method? Thanks for reading
  4. I found out what the thudding was as it got too loud to even drive to halford's for a ball joint splitter. Somebody forgot to tighten the wheel nuts on one of the wheels of the car causing the wheel to wobble and thud, now I do have a camera over the door so I could go back to check the footage However I am a kind hearted soul and would not dream of finding out who was responsible and shaming them publicly. It seems though they might have done me a favor doing so otherwise I would not know about the upper wishbone ball joint being worn to a nub. I may have to delete this post so my wife does not see it as I will never admit this one to her.
  5. worth a try with the ring i recon... While driving my wife back from the station last night I heard a slight thudding sound... this morning on the way to the station it was much louder. I gave the wheel a tug and heard a clunking so pulled it off the car with sockets not my superhuman strength rattled it about then with my hand squeezed the joint and wiggled the arm and the noise was gone so...... new upper wishbone in the post. a cup of tea and feet up feeling some what better. Knowing the problem is half of the battle I think. I checked all the other joints and found one to be cracked a little (control arm maybe its called it's different to the LS430 so not sure of the name but sits so the bolt goes through vertically so that's next on the list I say next but I am doing the timing belt job on monday so 2nd maybe.
  6. thanks.... I could not find a leak in the exhaust so i have ordered the old rubber ring at the princely some of 12 pounds.... bargain if it fixes it. Mind you upper wishbone ball joint just gone this morning ain't cars super fun perfect time to try out my new power tool Bocsh impact wrench.
  7. Thanks mark I will check it tomorrow morning.. :)
  8. I had coilovers on my last ls430 which I gave away however i think I traded coils for LPG ...which was good and very bad. Although I have to admit that the combination of LPG tank in the spare wheel well and twisty country roads with all the heat we had in the summer meant that 3 of my tyres split on the edge and had to be replaced due to the weight being far back from the wheel causing the damage. Brian... sorry buddy I did try to get it off however my jack would not fit under the car with the shocks blown.
  9. I should think so Brian.... not sure how close I am to you
  10. As I say it's a shame to crush the car but I don't have the space to break it and I would not want to heap it upon anyone else even with the Lpg kit on it and all the work I and my brother-in-law have done on it.
  11. I do buddy and you have inspired me to get one although I can feel a Toyota century calling me but I'm worried about getting spares for it. I have been looking in the Japanese auctions for one. A celsior it is then I would love one in white with a wool interior although I would have have to buy my daughter a car as her dog would be as welcome as a fart in a space suit if I may quote the great Billy. Then Slam on a set of coilovers as soon as I can as that's what's happened to mine in Sainsbury's.
  12. Tbh I had heard so many bad things about the 460 so it's never been in the running I did think about getting a 98 ls400 I had four hours to find a car.
  13. I'm afraid I bought it while i was in a rush so didnt really look at the car at all... my bad I mean the guy was a.... ummm oh i can't swear on here can I. The rear shocks are down and its looking like a low rider also now sporting two small dents suspiciously the size of my knuckles in the rear quarter. Anyways it is a shame to scrap it it has been ok and has a LPG kit on it but high mileage a band former owner maintenance left me with a list as long as my arm to fix let alone the things that keep cropping up, I am going to rip the front seats out to make a couple of gaming chairs then cal the scrappys on Monday as I now need the space, It still runs. The faster it goes the better as I keep having flights of fancy finding myself on eBay looking at bits to fix it, kinda wake up to what i'm doing and turn the computer off before I make a huge mistake
  14. It has been a great run but its time to let go of my LS430 the car betrayed me for the last time so I am sending it to the scrap yard in the sky where I will feel some sense of revenge for the time she let me down in Sainsburys car park. I have a gs300 for an emergency car I thought it might be long term... but It is just not the same, like going from an epic girlfriend to well..... a drunken rebound one night stand down a dark alley in the rain. The GS is a great car but I have been forever changed into a soft luxury needing ******... to think I used to drive around in a mark 3 escort and think it was the bees knees. My light at the end of this tunnel has to be a Toyota celsior a clean Ls really following many of you here.
  15. Hi Phil Yeah it goes off then on again when driving not when started up but when driving. I thought it might be a sensor on the drive train
  16. Hi guys I know there is lots of things online about this problem... and how to turn the vsc light off however i cant find anything online about what the problem is causing the vsc light to come on in the 1st place on a gs300 anyways. Its normally off until the car moves off, there are no codes showing up through the obd has anyone had any experience with this? many thanks
  17. I don't know..... a bit of T cut it should buff right up nice. some new wiper blades always make a car feel nice i think
  18. Hi guys I wonder if anyone has ever had a front lower wishbone arm front bush (i think thats right) fitted or have fitted personally, if so how was it?
  19. I had a set of strutmaster coil overs on my 1st LS430 , I did notice a smoothness difference after moving to air on my next LS however I have my old strutmaster coilovers ready to be fitted should the dreaded day arrive. Saying that even though the ride is not as good with the coils every time I start the car I am waiting for the compressor to just motor on and blow something and leave me stranded in some god forsaken place like depford so I may just change them for peace of mind.
  20. yup..... I do always clean those with emery cloth when i change them. Tbh it might be time to scrap the car and get something a little less abused and less banana ish. Not that I have not done enough to this car new stainless exhaust, engine gearbox and diff mounts(fitted in the depths of winter outside), new to me diff, aircon rad thingy, alternator twice, only had the car a year and the list goes on but when do you stop. Maybe its a disorder
  21. Hi Mark its at 252k or just a smidge over
  22. Hi guys, so I have had this clunking from the front end when I am turning it just past the mot and all joints were good control bushes good although he did say that the droplinks were not to good so i changed those I have one option left i think and thats the steering rack bushes has anyone had and problems with these and if so how did it sound. thanks again in advance guys John
  23. car looks amazing, I'm loving the seats I have wanted to import a car from japan for a long while now, same as yours or a century the v 12 model however my wife thinks I am going mad shes been talking about a fiat, if she keeps going it might be ground for divorce :)
  24. Hi John I and others i am sure would love to hear about your trip, are you going via a tour group or on a solo drive, I have always wanted to drive that part of the world however the media does a great job of putting you off.
