  1. I took mine off and on again well ... one of them, hardest part was breaking the rusty bolts and nuts free of course with yours you should have no problems in that regard with that beautiful rust free celsior
  2. I was lead to believe those strut masters are rebranded monroe shocks. And worked great for me... are you going to fit them yourself Phil?
  3. I had those on my 1st LS430..... after I sorted the misaligned rubber mount
  4. that would be the way to go.... but I dont trust them to boil an egg lol
  5. The most amazing news is that while the mechanics worked on my car they bent my bonnet hinge by driving it fast backwards and forwards slamming the brakes on inside the garage to see if the hose would come off.... while the bonnet was open with a very dense foam block under the driver side near the hinge as the car stopped the bonnet must have flexed forwards now causing the bonnet to be raised along the drivers side edge. I knew there was a reason I don't take my cars to workshops... everytime they break something every single time.
  6. thats good news Phil I searched the ecp website with no joy did you go in and get it?
  7. Hi Peter, The Ls430 has the AFT run through the main radiator, the engine coolant can sometimes due to a failure of the radiator leak into the gearbox. On other ls430's I have had I have always changed the radiator every few years but its always ticking away in the back of my head and I am always looking for hard shifts and problems with the gearbox when I should just be happily driving along watching the world go by.
  8. Good evening Guys, I bought a Lexus LS430 oil cooler kit from ebay and fitted it against my better judgement if I am honest. The kit came with a 7 bar cooler and hoses etc. When I received kit I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the hose's and clips the size of the cooler was a concern also but I thought well someone who knows the system put this together so what do I know it must be fit for purpose (yup a massive lump of laziness for not researching if it was going to be up to the job myself). Since fitting the kit I have had problems with leaks on the hose connections the more i tried to tighten the hose clips using the better 7mm socket as opposed the dodgy hand jamming screwdriver technique, the hoses were just not up to the job as the pressure of the hose clips easily damaged the hoses (very thin walls more akin to garden hose than automotive hose. It all came to a head when while driving one of the hoses came off completely while I was driving luckily at low speed, I still lost 6 litres of ATF in the process. I managed to pull over find a garage get towed etc, I got the gearbox refilled old radiator connected back up and drove home. My conclusion after much talking to people in the know, is that yes the hoses and clips were not very good quality but the main problem is the 7 bar cooler was restricting the flow of the ATF and increasing the pressure resulting in an expensive day out (£300). I have now bought a much larger cooler and much better quality hoses and t-bar clamps which I am now waiting for, I hope this may help someone along the way. Crappy B..s...t Disclaimer: This is just my experience, the fault lies with me as its my car and I am supposed to be an adult although I don't always act like one. I am in no means an engineer but I am quite handy with a tools....blah blah blah
  9. I have mine on factory coils there is not much of a difference that I could notice. I am not sure of the price of factory coils mind you.
  10. I bought and fitted a condenser and compressor to my old ls430 bought from Paul Frost except the after market condenser which I bought from ebay usa which was £65 with postage included and even a life time warranty not that thats going to be of much use... but the job went well and even regassed it myself an easy job after someone on the forum told me about halfords selling the kit to do it. It does sound like the garage are trying to pull a fast one though. The aircon specialist (yeah right) I took mine to tried to charge me 1500 for the work and said there would be no guarantee and more work might have to be done, the car cost me 1600 so.... what harm could I do if I did it myself i though. I always thought that the aircon system was not to be touched by the likes of me but it turns out that its not that complicated.
  11. thats about as cheap as it gets ,,, maybe a couple of pounds cheaper but not enough to warrant hunting.
  12. Thanks Phil I will do that mid week. Its about £250.00 for the unit above... it will if it works right take the problem of not being able to read Japanese and the fact I have a sony mini disk system in my car of all things. How are you getting on with those lovely wool seats Phil?
  13. Btw Phil I came across this.... Which I am going to try out before christmas... I will let you know how it goes
  14. The ride has been very good. The only difference while I am driving to running with air shocks is the release of tension. The worry over burst bags and split lines and will the car raise or will I get the dropped corner or two like I had with the other Ls430. I do have to connect the small external cooler I mounted a few months ago although I am worried about the drop in AFT as I fit the pipes ,,,it being a 05 with no dip stick to help adjust the levels. I do believe there are some level bolts mind you, no idea where they are as of yet.
  15. I could not be happier with my imported celsior If I am honest. It has just not given me the grief of the two ls430s I had before in fact I am trying very hard to find something to do on mine.... The only thing I would do when getting a new one... if I ever do Is I would love to drive it home from the auction... visas allowing. Just got back from a long trip to Asia and I think its possible motivation permitting

  18. Tbh I have not even thought about using a fm transmitter as I tried one when they 1st came out ... ooo back in the day and it was rubbish however time has moved on, having said that I do believe that the imported radio is only good for radio 2 and It's Nirvana for me George :) I have bought the unit now so I will keep you updated Phil... well when it stops snowing I will post it on here somewhere Thanks for the help guys
  19. Good evening guys Having got my new celsior I have come up against a thingy, in the 430 I had a tape player which was well annoying but I simply bought one of those crappy tape to aux devices and just put up with the god awful sound. I have a mindisc player in my car which I could not afford to get when they were still making them and now I can afford one I don't want one in my car so I was thinking about fitting a double din android unit in and doing without the minidisc has anyone fitted one and does anyone have any idea if we can get a fascia for it as I don't want it to look like some 17 year old kid has just gotten his hands on a vauxhall corsa and decided he needs a good stereo to help him pick up a girl from the local supermarket car park hot hatch meet next friday night. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XTRONS-Android-8-1-Double-DIN-7-Car-Stereo-GPS-Sat-Nav-DAB-OBD2-WiFi-4G-Radio/332387696445?hash=item4d63d9bf3d:g:3u8AAOSwAopcEfpe:rk:2:pf:1&frcectupt=true Thanks for you help guys
