  1. Well got my windscreen replaced today... and rather well I might add not the usual 3rd times the charm as i have had before  ... due to weather mostly I would say not the installer.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I paid for the screen myself... fine print is the key.... claiming on your insurance doesn't effect your no claims..... but normally effects your premium.

For the sake of 250 whole pounds and a coffee and cake at costa.... which was almost as much, its completed... and peace of mind is achieved.

    again thanks to all.

Simple answer is they don't but Lexus/Toyota want to project an image of luxury, so price accordingly. Plus they don't have a huge turnover on parts as the cars are built up to a higher level of quality, rather than down to a price.

Nail right on the head there........brand perception is everything.

It is amazing how many hoops brands can make you jump through to acquire one of their products.. You should check out Hermes bags, a friend told me that she had to ask for an appointment to go to one of their shops 3 times before they gave her a date she could go.

when she went in they made her wait ages then asked her what she wanted the bag for, the sales assistant then left the shop floor 15 mins later came back with a bag.

only choice was to buy the bag or never get another appointment there for no choice over the bag.

I told her she was dumber than a sack of hammers (or words to that effect).

Have you got a cheap code reader? When the VSC light came on in my 2005 GS an eBay reader picked up an o2 sensor. Even a tiny hole in the exhaust can cause an o2 error.  It seems with a Lexus even looking at the car in the wrong way can trigger VSC!

I will check under the car when it stops raining for an offending hole.... thanks Phil

  4. Hi Guys,

I have a 2002 Gs 300 90k miles which has now a VSC light coming on when I drive it but does not come on if I turn the engine off and on again until I drive.

The car was sat for 9 months gathering dust, It has a brand new Battery I have checked the Petrol cap sealing ok which it does.

I have tried the VSC button on the centre console.

It was running great with no warning lights when I parked it many moons ago.

If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your time

    Hi Guys

Check this out and if you have a pre 98 Lexus you can't use E10 Lexus say ,a 2006 LS 460 version is also suspect as well as some other models that are not LS.

Well this is an interesting thread to wake up to this morning, as I just filled up blindly at morrisons just happy I did not fuel up using the Black handle again...(A hard earned lesson from 15 years ago).

I noticed in the document it says European models, I do wonder then how those with a Celsior will fair.
