  1. Hi guys just one more quick question if i may where does the leak come from around the radiator into the gearbox is there a point on it i can check with my rather old mark one eyeballs? Before I am forced to drive 600 miles in a van with my mother and wife complaining the whole way. (oh god im not looking forward to it)
  2. forget i said that sounds like a silly idea now i have seen what i have written
  3. Has anyone used a fluid pump down the dip stick tube to suck out the offending oil and replace through there?
  4. I have ordered a new radiator and coolant so now its just the gearbox oil. Must admit the high level of gearbox oil worried me although i was parked on a hill. It's the way the gearbox oil got soaked into the tissue like water not oil, just glad to have caught it in time also hoping I can change the oil DIY I'm not in the habit of trusting dealers anymore TBH not that they are all bad just been burnt to many times.
  5. i think i will need to flush the gearbox out has anyone done this? its a 2002 model thanks
  6. Hi guys can I have someone's opinion on this gearbox dip. I found the coolant level low so I'm worried about the radiator leaking into the gearbox it doesn't smell burnt but the color looks brown ish
  7. The three m kit has sanding discs then paste ours was completely fogged over now it's shiny . We tried paste alone before we got the 3m kit and it did nothing. 340 is A bitter pill to swallow for the sake of 20 quid I might even have some of the kit left over if you want it. No charge of course. I will look in the morning if you want
  8. Hi guys my ls430 had foggy headlamps my wife sorted it though with this http://www.3mdirect.co.uk/3m-headlight-restoration-kit-39073.html?gclid=CIOQpYK4h8wCFRUW0wodATUCLQ&gclsrc=aw.ds
  9. Hi Mark thanks mate. I should have said I am looking for a independent mechanic as due to many burnt fingers I am not happy using a dealer. but thanks for the help :)
  10. Hi Guys I am looking for a mechanic to change a timing belt on an ls430 non dealer near London or Cheshire but I am willing to travel for the right person. Thanks for you help

  13. thanks mark you sir are a star. I did install a new battery last week but they only had the rubbish one in so its probably that.
  14. Good afternoon guys, sorry to disturb your relaxing sunday after lunch snooze, I thought someone maybe kind enough to stop me digging a big hole and ever so slowley pushing my car into said hole. I went out today for a simple matter a sunday car tinker (which involves normally sitting in the car wondering how I came to own something so amazing, i'm sure some of you indulgue in the practice) and found that the key fob was not working. After opening it with the key and starting it I also found out some other things were not working such as wing mirrors all the remote seat buttons on the door (ones on the seat work fine) boot and fuel cap release. Having seached through the forum n google I tried many fuses (couldnt find a blown one) checked the battery terminal, held down buttons on the fob for 30 secs, and prayed a little bit to who ever might be listoning. Oh when I do press the fob to open the car the indicators flash but not when I try to lock it. My wife is now refuring to the car as mine as its broken (I would like to keep it that way and maybe buy her a nissan micra that will learn her). many thanks for all your time and help in advance, hope you ate well on this fantasic sunday afternoon.
  15. hi thanks to some advice on this forum I sorted my dash light problem with one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOR-LEXUS-FAULT-CODE-READER-CAR-ENGINE-SCAN-DIAGNOSTIC-RESET-EOBD-OBD2-CAN-BUS-/391276230355?hash=item5b19e176d3:g:HOQAAOSwKIpWCPGY just plug it in under the dash near pedals and turn on car, codes come up and DA DA. I had a coil pack out. thanks to messi, rudd and ambermarine who helped me with the codes in my moment of doubt:) maybe for next time if you have already solved this problem... I think the one i bought was a tenner and now sits in my car glovebox.
  16. HI I had mine done... as somebody cleaned my screen with a kitchen scourer( i'm blaming the wife, but it was me) also had two stone chips. I used budget windscreens so not on my insurance...just got a thing about claiming on it. However they were fantastic came out on a day which was not great as it was very windy. A great job was done It's better I'm sure to go through the insurance but this is just one other view on it. Oh it was 185 total and I was very happy to pay it.
  17. its connected it the engine ok its the mounting point for the pulley that is not flat anymore well it is a bit but some of it sheared off but i think there is enough on it. its next to a 5p coin
  18. oh dear it seem as if i really have messed up its not going to be fun doing this on the street in winter.......ohhhhhhhh nooooooo
  19. ok so as I did shear a bit of mettel off the mounting of the tensioner I'm going to replace the unit with this.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301639567063?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I think its the right one has anyone changed one and if so do i need to take anything out to get to the 4 bolts? thanks again
  20. ok so this morning with a clear head and some sunlight n rain I went out to survey the damage I had caused in my haste.(silly silly boy that I am) where I foolishly unbolted the tensioner pulley last night and it pinged off with violence it sheared off a piece of metal from the pulley mounting, so i may have to replace that whole thing now . something i didnt expect is that there was no washer behind any of the pulleys which I found strange, Is this right? I have bolted it all back together now though and yes in the end the penny dropped on how the tensioner works, not sure i shall ever live this one down. The tensioner pulley I was of course worried about not sitting right however there isnt a wobble in sight. thanks for your patience
  21. Ambermarine as i'm turning it anticlockwise it feels as if its a spring and im rotating it from 3 o'clock to 10 and but it doesn't slacken the belt and im afraid to break something shall i just push it more? thanks again and sorry for the stooopid questions
  22. MR Abermarine Sir you are a scholar and a gent... I shall run out with my magic hammer right now
