throttle hesitation
skyway replied to skyway's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
so.... I hang my head in shame. I found a small quiet exhaust leak at the front y section which was the cause of the throttle hesitation. Problem solved can't believe that such a small leak could cause such a thing Thanks again for everyones help and sorry for wasting your time -
throttle hesitation
skyway replied to skyway's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
I have tried resetting the ecu I changed the coil packs and plugs as a service its gone a long way 240k thought it was about time and i had them so no foul no harm. I had some error codes which were to do with the air leak which I think I have sorted and cleared, I am beginning to think that its the injectors .... (its rare) when I switch to LPG i don't get the hesitation and the last links in the chains are the injectors I better clean them tomorrow and see what happens. -

hi... Colin the maf sensor is clean, it revs the same out of gear the air leak was the airbox -
Good afternoon guys My ls430 has some throttle hesitation, I have changed the plugs and coil packs also found an air leak and dealt with that but its still there at low rpm if I am gentle with the pedal as I normally am there is no lag but if you poke it a little more the rpm goes up then drops below tick-over then at some point goes back up hopefully before getting hit by a oncoming truck. Any ideas? thanks again john

far too much air
skyway replied to skyway's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Thanks guys. I think that I may have found the leak. The fat rubber pipe that goes from the side airbox thingy to the top of the engine (looks like an L) which was loose and the clips holding it down were baggy to say the least. I am going for a run soon to check it. -

HI again guys I have had some codes come up on my old ls430 P0171 and P0174 to be exact after much searching on the net the codes point to an air leak post filter I have had a look at the airbox doesnt seem to be leaking from there but I did just look at it maybe there is a better way of checking. has anyone else had this problem? thanks for reading and any advice you guys are awesome

thanks John It seems like this is going to be a problem It would be a great shame to scrap the car over a light. the car did pass on emissions I did explain the light being on as the codes come up with lean running on the o2 sensors maybe i could get rid of the codes with an obd reader just for the mot.

Hi guys I wonder if someone could help me with this slight problem. I have a 2001 LS430 After the changes with the mot rules I have 2 problems that i'm not sure how I am going to solve. The first of which is my head lamp pattern or lack of one the guy said that the set up is now against the law to fit although we did come to an agreement that it was factory fitted being and old car he said it might be new bulbs needed however they are fairly new which I didn't say, has anyone come across this problem yet? the second one is I have an LPG kit on the car and the engine management light is on as i think is quite normal however that is now considered a fail. I am thinking of taking the bulb out of the dash as the only way to rectify this unless anyone has a better idea. Thanks for reading and taking time to help guys.

HI guys thanks for you help today My wife spotted the hole as I squeezed away furiously on the coolant hoses, It was in a pipe that runs to and from the LPG kit box thingy, I didn't know It would need cooling but hey ho. So after a mad dash to a car spares place that was mercifully open till 1pm a few hours later and it was sorted. Merry Christmas guys hope you have no car problems this holiday

Thanks guys you saved the day -
Good evening guys, I wonder if someone might be able to shed some light (no pun intended) on a problem i'm having with my ls430. My drivers side headlamp turns itself off I thought it was a loose wire as it came back on next time I drove it however I soon discovered that when it goes off while driving if I turn the lights off and on again both come on so it wont be a loose connection. Any ideas welcome crackpot or otherwise. even happy to cover the car in tin foil if that will apease the god of light. many thanks
