  1. Hi there and yes this weather is fantastic - long may it continue. [emoji274] With regards to tablets, it would be good to know what you’re hoping to use it for as this may influence recommendations. I use an iPad Pro with keyboard for work and it’s so accomplished it’s almost a laptop replacement. Your requirements may differ however. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. After exactly two weeks I have my car back. New wing mirror, new TPMS, and most usefully a new right rear shock absorber. No more thumping noises over speed bumps. It’s VERY gratifying having my own car back and after two weeks in the slightly annoying but entirely competent 18 plate IS300h I’d forgotten just how good my (now a decade old!) GS feels. It feels more solid, it’s far roomier, the stereo is better, and it’s hyperdrive fast. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I’ve been driving an 18 plate IS300h as a courtesy car for 10 days and counting while my GS450h is getting parts fitted. It’s covered around 6,800 miles and when I got in it at the dealership the trip computer indicated 45 mpg, but in my (clearly less than capable) hands it’s now running at about 38 mpg. It’s on Yokohama tyres and 17 inch wheels. It’s a strange thing the IS300h. Very tidy and commendable handling coupled with an entirely unpredictable power plant. Sometimes it feels genuinely quick and other times it feels asthmatic. Also, the fake engine noise and fake rev counter are simply terrible affectations and I’m glad they can be switched off. 4. Good question! I was poking around on the MyLexus site earlier this week and couldn’t find it either. I really hope this is a glitch as the ability to look back over the history is really useful. I checked the MyLexus iPhone app and that still includes the history, so at least that’s something. 5. Unless your exhaust tips are filthy filthy filthy x 1000 I think you’re better off with a good product, elbow grease, and maybe something like steel wool. If you’re absolutely set on using a machine, something like a Dremel may be easier to use in a tight space than a big electric drill.
  6. I agree with Lee. Autosol. It shifts everything with sufficient elbow grease and the results speak for themselves. You can buy it in Halfords or on Amazon, eBay, et al. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Alas I’d didn’t respond to this thread in time to be helpful but this is exactly what I did when my GS450 needed new tyres. Local Lexus dealer price matched Blackcircles and four new Michelin PS4s were fitted, with the usual dealer convenience of my car being dropped back to my office. Good for you for buying quality tyres. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. This one presumably. Looks cool. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F183273898403 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. An email today has informed me that the warranty will cover everything, which is good as a new shock is hundreds of pounds. Let's hope this fixes the thumping.
  10. Now THAT’S how you drive a hybrid. [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Lexus Cambridge hath spoken... They are requesting a new off side rear shock absorber under warranty. They're also requesting warranty cover for a few other things that aren't quite working properly, like the driver's door mirror, (at least one of) my TPMS sensors, and the passenger seat belt unit which keeps pinning my wife to the seat. Cough cough build quality cough cough.
  12. All good thanks buddy, apart from a thumping coming from somewhere under the car which Lexus Cambridge is looking at at the moment. Fingers crossed the warranty does the business!
  13. Did you get this sorted Lee or is your car still riding low at the rear? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. My car is back with Lexus Cambridge today. This time I went out with the technician and was able to recreate the suspension thump on a speed bump 300 metres from the dealership. As soon as it happened talk turned to shock absorbers, so we'll see what happens next. I'll keep this thread updated if that's ok with the original poster. Incidentally the courtesy car this time is a IS300h, a vast improvement over the thoroughly underwhelming CT200h from the last visit. At this rate of slowly working my way up the model range I'm going to need to have a few more problems before I'm sat in a courtesy LS.
  15. Did the OP ever state what dealer it was? It would be good to know as it sounds pretty shady. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I do exactly the same with my GS450h. [emoji106] To my mind the normal throttle response is a bit on the lazy side, Hybrid pwr cures that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Another alternative is to set up the Shell app on your iPhone. This lets you pay for your fuel from a Shell station using the app and ApplePay. I use it all the time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. In a perfect world we’d all have a trustworthy independent mechanic round the corner who is completely at ease working on our complicated hybrid luxury cars. However in my view this kind of expertise is very hard to find. While the main dealers are not perfect, you are at least dealing with a large corporate institution and have the option to escalate higher up the chain if you have a problem. Plus for people like me who seem to have zero spare time, the courtesy cars, collection and drop off service, and even decent in-dealer waiting facilities are worth paying for. Additionally, the value of the MyLexus information is not to be underestimated. I’d rate a used car with a complete history (not just service history) with Lexus higher than one without. Also, and while this may not strictly be universally true for Lexus, main dealers do offer discounts for older vehicles. The price for fitting a part to my old now departed E46 BMW was cheaper at the (excellent) BMW main dealer than either the BMW indy or my local spanner twirler. If you genuinely have a mechanic you trust then great, but I’ll continue to use main dealers for all the reasons I’ve outlined above. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I'm looking at dash cams at the moment and was quoted £347 for a professionally fitted Thinkware F800 Pro. I then called my insurance company and was informed that while there's a discount for having a dash cam, that cost would be outweighed by the admin charge to cover a 'policy change', so I'd have to give them £8.80. The ROI might take a while...
  20. Quite a few threads featuring VLine related matters. Just do a search. I’ve tried to link to one below but I’m not sure if it will work. Grom Vline - Android/CarPlay Infotainment Upgrade https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_fid=80750&share_tid=110258&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Elexusownersclub%2Eco%2Euk%2Fapplications%2Ftapatalk%2Findex%2Ephp%3F%2Ftopic%2F110258-Grom-Vline---Android-CarPlay-Infotainment-Upgrade&share_type=t Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. The question makes sense, but I think it might be better addressed to Grom themselves. :) According to this website your car is compatible with a VLine. https://gromaudio.co.uk/partfinder/product/list/?make=Lexus&model=RX&year=2007-2009 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Yes. Had I bought it from ‘Jem Lexus’ I would have said so. It was only last year and I’m hopefully some years away from senility. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Which Lexus dealer is this? I’m shocked and dismayed they are trying to wriggle out of their legal obligations like this. Also, if it is a genuine Lexus dealer you’re buying from a Hybrid Health Check ought to be a given?! I dealt with an extremely slippery salesperson at Lexus Edgware Road when I bought my GS450. If I were you I’d make sure you’ve got everything in writing. Emails are good for this as the date and time is recorded too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I love everything you’re doing to your new car and it’s a credit to you. Congratulations on such a fantastic vehicle and your talents of restoration. I’d lose the cheesy dash trim sticker though. [emoji846] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
