  1. Go to Screwfix website and type in Titan Vacuum and between £65 and £95 you can have a 1400W motor , between 16 - 33 litre capacity that will suck your face off and can be used as a wet vac too. Been using one for years with no breakdowns.
  2. I bought a 3 year Lexus dealer tyre policy for my LS500h for £250 for the 3 years. Unlimited call outs at home if necessary for punctures and a max of 5 new tyres over the 3 years if unrepairable as long as the tyre has 2 mm of tread on it but with a max contribution by the Insurer of £300 towards the tyre.
  3. Why can't your run flat tyre be repaired DanP if it's a puncture or is the puncture in the side wall? A vulcanised repair by any tyre company is no different for a run flat or a conventional tyre. Tyre off, repair, refit and balance. We're not talking about a tyre inflator kit and the accompanying canister of goo are we?
  4. The GS450h Premier I had was my first hybrid car and a diamond to own. I was hooked on Hybrids after this and went on to 3 ES300h's, a short 12 month stint with a Toyota CHR hybrid and then back to Lexus with my latest car a LS500h. Started with a 2007 LS460 SE-L a superb car and introduced me to the Lexus brand back in 2015. Go for a GS450h Premier model as the spec is the highest you can get although the lesser Luxury is till well equipped. The V6 3.5 litre engine is bullet proof.
  5. When Bentley offer a 10 year warranty like Lexus and Toyota do )providing you have it serviced once a year or very 10,000 miles up to a max of 100,000 miles) then I will have another Bentley !! How we laughed !!!!

Lexus Customer Services came back and said the reason why the my Lexus Link app could not read my hybrid journey history for my 1/12/2017 registered LS500h is because it was built one month before something called a DCM data module was fitted as standard. Once a car was built with it the app would allow hybrid journey results to be viewed. As a DCM module cannot be retro fitted there is nothing more that can be done.
  7. In one decade I owned 3 separate four door Bentleys and lost count of the number of engine management/warning lights that came on, at least once a month. The ECU's are numerous in cars today and the last Arnage I had has 48 controlling every thing. E.G didn't tighten my fuel cap once and engine management light came on. Dealer plugged it in and discovered a breach in the fuel system air pressure. He tightened the cap and the light went out. So what chance do we have when we are heavily dependent on ECU's. I'm on my sixth Lexus since 2019 and never had a warning light come on. Enough said I think.
  8. Has there been anything but positive reviews of this model. Take a look at the Car Care Nut on Youtube who has done 2 videos on the coupe and convertible. He has a great deal of knowledge on all things Lexus but did 2 really great reviews inside his workshop, no road tests just a detailed commentary of how good they are. You need to make an allowance for the fact he is in the US but his understanding of the technical stuff is very high.
  9. Are there 2 holes in the piece, I can see one hole and if there are 2 it could be twisted out of shape yoke whereby a clevis pin could hold a cable with a single hole flange end thereby joining both pieces together. Just a guess really.
  10. I agree Malcolm there is no answer to a shredded tyre other than a new one. As you probably know run flats don't use tyre inflator goo as the side walls can carry the full weight of the car but this photo is why Lexus had no option but to use run flats on the LS500h unlike my first Lexus a LS460 which had a full size alloy spare wheel under the floor panel. Other than a space for a 12 volt battery and a tiny slot for a cargo net there is no space at all under the floor panel for tools, tyre inflator kits, tool holders and no wheel well unlike the ES300h I traded in. This space saver was stored under the ES300's dummy floor but required a different polystyrene tool holder. I have a box of stuff I don't drive without and carrying an 18inch space saver would eliminate any available space for luggage or travel bags. The boot floor area in a LS500h is about 25% smaller than a ES300h which stopped me transferring the ES300's boot liner and so a new boot liner was purchased.
  11. I still carry a scissor jack and tools for no other reason than I can't get used to having no equipment supplied by the manufacturer. Never liked them though when you think the weight they support particularly when the scissor action has to be nearly at it's maximum extended position before the wheel lifts off the ground. The only tool there is in a LS500 is a tow eye and a small screwdriver to remove the blanking plate from the front bumper. I'm more confident now with the run flat tyres but if I'm at home and want a wheel off I use a trolley jack with a rubber foot that's grooved and the bracket fits the v shaped groove.

Washed my car for the first time since collecting it and realised that the decision to have flush side glass x 4 pieces must have been decided possibly by just one person initially, chief designer maybe, before he said make it happen to the Engineers. None of the previous 5 Lexus cars I owned had flush side glass incl 3 ES300's and my first Lexus a LS460. The tight 3-5mm vertical rubber separation seals between glass panels are super flush fitting and all the glass is set within the chrome window surround. This is where Lexus excel in my view as they could so easily have had normal vertical trims separating the glass which most cars have. Now I find myself looking at other manufacturers vehicles for flush fitting side glass. How sad is that. Equally when I removed the rear wheels to fit some mud flaps I jacked the car up on a cast aluminum bracket of which there are 4 in the normal jacking areas of the car. I first noticed them when the dealer allowed me to see the underside of the car on a ramp just prior to collecting it. I realised that the designer of these brackets felt the floor pan needed something better than normal sill flanges (see photo of a Toyota sill flange where the car is jacked up) and maybe this was to do with the huge weight of the car. The brackets are large and clearly cast aluminum and bolted to the floor with two large 14mm bolts. These are ideal for the service dept when two post lift swing arms support the car and although there is no jack or tools supplied in a LS500 because of the run flat tyres my own trolley jack gave me a real sense of safety when I jacked the car up on these brackets. Again I suggest a design Engineer sat down and thought about this component. I believe the LC500 shares the same architecture/floor pan and these brackets. I have repaired a few bent sill flanges in the past on different vehicles when the whole weight of the car was supported badly (Trolley jacks when tyres were fitted, swing arms on 2 post lifts not positioned correctly which forces the flange over) A conventional jacking point on a sill flange relies on a surface area of around 130mm in length by approximately 8mm thick and when the whole car is up in the air they may be adequate in theory but hardly a huge surface area to support a car weighing up to a couple of tons or more. Hats off to the Lexus Designers and Engineers who keep thinking of how to improve the way their cars are built and look and the attention they give to components.

The Lexus installed Nextbase 380's rear camera is a similar shape but clearly smaller whereas my GW522 rear camera is very small and shaped like a ball and attaches to a small mounting by a magnet. Your rear view unit is better for mounting flat to the rear shelf. Jeff, the plug and play rear dash cam is specific to the 322GW, 422GW, 522GW and 622GW front dash cams so the rear camera doesn't have a specific part code. As long as you use any of the 4 models I quoted then the camera will fit. There is also the " cabin view camera" which I guess is favoured by taxi drivers etc who need to record what's going on inside their cars. £69 delivered to your door and no sticky pad mounts as it just clicks into the main body of my camera a 522GW.
  14. Kevin, I'd be interested to see where the dealer put the rear camera on your car, can you do a photo? The dealer was obviously aware that the rear blind covers the whole screen when is use so the rear shelf is not what crossed my mind. I take the point about your preference of not wanting a dash cam screen. Another Nextbase dash cam I once used in my car and then transferred to the wife's car caused me some issues when the visual screen images of both front and rear cameras simply froze. I would have been unaware of the fault had there been no screen as the tiny red flashing light had stopped too. The indicator light in the GW380 that the dealer fitted for the first owner was extremely small when running but as I said I just like having a screen to confirm it's running OK. I checked the rear camera video files from the telescopic camera that plugs directly into the front camera and was pleased to see the rear view video clips are of the same quality as the front ones. Even though the rear view camera is looking through the car and out the back screen there are no restrictions that would stop you from seeing someone striking you from behind. I've run rear view camera cables through to the rear screen many times and consider it to be a real pain, whether you go up and along the headlining edge or downwards and along and behind the sill kick trims. A plug and play telescopic view camera achieves the same result for me. Nextbase often run out of stock of their replacement sticky pads for various models of cameras and sometimes double sided badge tape doesn't always do the job. I discovered Gel Tape in a garden centre recently which is also reusable, saw it first on a TV advert and it's a remarkable product, sticks to glass like S... to a shovel and yet can be peeled off very easily and reused.
  15. Although the previous owner had a Lexus dealer installation of a GW380 dash cam, the one dealers recommend, it doesn't have a screen. Installation at dealers tend to include a hard wire kit too. I believe because it is more streamlined in it's design it's the one Lexus dealers like to offer when offering them to customers. Dealers always fit their Nextbase cameras on the left of the rear view mirror whereas I would normally have it below the rear view mirror. Consequently there was insufficient slack in the hard wire lead to reach the centre of the screen without unpicking the cable and starting over. I have the camera therefore on the left but still within easy reach if I need to activate the save file button. However the rear screen blind on the LS500 fills the whole aperture with no room available to fix a rear screen camera to the back screen without fouling the blind. I could have transferred my rear camera from the ES300 but that would mean not being able to use the rear blind at all. I transferred the front facing camera out of my ES after I removed the original Nextbase camera that was already in the car. I simply prefer a camera with a screen. In order to have a rear camera I just bought a telescopic view Nextbase rear camera which slots in to the front camera which looks through the car and out of the screen, the best compromise for me. Moreover the thought of running a rear camera cable behind the necessary close fitting trims wasn't very appealing as previously experienced on several occasions. I don't like driving without a pair of cameras but that is the retired Insurance Assessor in me, so used was I to inspecting countless damaged cars in my working life and listening to numerous accusations of who was actually to blame. At least with a single or double camera set up you have a better chance of proving liability in the event of a dispute and all the hassle Insurance Company related matters like loss of NCD, proving liability, unrecoverable insurance excesses and possible increased premiums. So I have a dealer approved Nextbase GW380 forward facing camera which is now spare if anyone wants a cheap camera with a SIM card. I also have a spare hard wire kit too.
  16. The Lexus Parts Direct came through once more with a very quick delivery on a boot liner, new locking wheel nuts and a touch up stick. A very efficient process and all with 10% discount. The parts are clearly genuine Lexus items although the boot liner is no where near the quality of the current ES300 boot liner I gave away to a forum member. But the LS liner fits very accurately. In view of my local dealer (Hull) not giving any discount on any accessory type parts, despite having a service plan issued by Lexus Stoke, I will use LPD from now on and return to Stoke for servicing. I don't see why I should favour a dealer who can't accommodate a reasonable request for a parts discount and who would prefer to see a customer shop elsewhere.

  18. I don't know is the answer but if Lexus hasn't taken note of the abysmal security issues the ES has suffered from for example and failed to secure the LBX with an encrypted CANBUS platform then they do not deserve to sell a single one.
  19. Hi Neil, in my opinion whoever Lexus used to supply the new version of the boot liner used a supplier who made a superior product due mainly to the quality of the synthetic rubber. Heavily ribbed and large letters saying LEXUS. The photo gives a better indication if you compare it to the one you collected last time. Ignore the space saver and tool tray which I'm still trying to sell. I've also used the rear ES mud flaps on my LS500h. Cheers Steve
  20. The issue is really one of weight and size for posting it out. The liner is of high quality rubberised material and rolling it up is harder than you think. It arrived at the dealer in a flat pack cardboard box wrapped in a plastic bag. You can imagine the size of the package given the size of the ES's boot floor space.
  21. Can anyone shed any light on why I cannot see any journey history for my hybrid car when I launch the My Lexus Link app on my phone. I can see Find my Car and other listings but unlike my wife's Toyota Yaris when we use the My Toyota App and shows all journeys in the Services List under Hybrid Coaching where all journeys are listed. The thing with having all journey history (up to 100 previous journeys) is that it is a good way to prove where the car was on a certain date and time, useful I would think for challenging cloned plate issues like speeding and parking violations. My mate has a 2020 Toyota Camry with the same full access to journey history. I'm pretty sure I have the latest version of the My Lexus App. but do we not have the same functionality?

I was under the impression that the Lexus full hybrid system would only give you single digit use in EV mode if moving unlike a plug in hybrid which are good for around 30-40 miles on battery only if moving. Static electric only use is something I hadn't considered would allow very much time powering a vehicle option like a dvd player.
  23. I have a genuine Lexus boot liner for the 2022 ES300h I owned back in July this year. Bought brand new after it was re introduced as an accessory by Lexus this year. It's a freebie if you collect it from YO25 in Yorkshire.

EMAC confirmed that while all new Lexus service plans are underwritten by them it is solely the dealer's discretion if they choose to allow the service plan holder any discounts for accessories or mechanical repairs. So going forward I will be asking Lexus Parts Direct to supply any items I want rather than Lexus Hull. Hull did say they that there was no national agreement with EMAC to allow discounts at dealer level even if someone takes out a service plan with Hull. I feel even more compelled now to return to Lexus Stoke for servicing.
  25. My error, I was quoting the Car and Driving YouTube Reviewer who did the review of my LS500 which was Lexus's Press Car back in 2017. He was quoting figs for Mercedes S class, 2,500 units on average each year compared to around 100 LS500h's. He was probably told by Lexus how many they averaged.
