Sean, Greasing the caliper pins is not part of a Lexus service and they routinely give trouble. (They do on other makes too.) Once they seize Lexus will replace the whole unit. Removing the caliper and regreasing the pin using the proper caliper pin grease annually will ensure they do not seize. It's straightforward job if you want to do it yourself and the satisfaction of keeping brakes working properly and avoiding a large replacement bill is good. John

My cousin's husband had an interesting experience when he took his 58 reg 65k miles IS250 for a service with Lexus dealer. They said their courtesy car insurance would not cover him as he is 90. The manager solved the problem by driving them to where they were going to go shopping. When they were finished shopping, they rang him and he came and picked them up. He was not too old for them to suggest he might like to trade in the 250 for a new model. John

Susan, Is Kidlington just north of Oxford too far? Good garage and recently they were trained up on hybrids so they now look after my hybrid. But I have been with them over 50 years. See https://www.summertowngarage.co.uk. Send them a message about what you want? John

Wow! Real money. Would a s/h iPod not be much cheaper and according to others on this tread just work? Would an old iPhone also work?* What is very annoying is that I have an iPod and according to Lexus history my car has the iPod option. Whereabouts in the glove compartment does the cable emerge? I'll go and look more carefully. John * Can you PM me?

Rameez, If the connector goes into the system then there is perhaps hope. I am guessing you have connected a bluetooth dongle because you have a phone with the later lightning connector? Can you get a phone or iPod with 30 pin connector to try it? A lighting to 30pin adaptor might help but the only one I found on eBay was just for charging. If the connector does go into the system then I can only guess it replaces one of the other inputs - CD, radio, tape - but you have tried these. I would like to connect my ancient and otherwise unused iPod because it is much less bother than loading up the CD changer. A simple solution would be great. Please keep us informed. John

John, Get some ProSlip greases https://www.amazon.co.uk/ProSlip-Caliper-Lubricant-Toyota-Mercedes/dp/B07886FP12/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Proslip&qid=1580559800&sr=8-1. These may be on our site somewhere and be discounted. Also leave keys in the house so you can't accidentally switch on whilst discs are off. John -

John, Search for a post by Bitprius. He explains the difference. (Motors immersed in fluid etc.) John
