  1. https://www.amazon.co.uk/ProSlip-Caliper-Lubricant-Toyota-Mercedes/dp/B07886FP12/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Proslip&qid=1583774632&sr=8-1 is the stuff approved by Lexus and you get the pad and clip lubricant as well. This is what I use. My only connection with the company is as a satisfied customer.
  2. Sean, Greasing the caliper pins is not part of a Lexus service and they routinely give trouble. (They do on other makes too.) Once they seize Lexus will replace the whole unit. Removing the caliper and regreasing the pin using the proper caliper pin grease annually will ensure they do not seize. It's straightforward job if you want to do it yourself and the satisfaction of keeping brakes working properly and avoiding a large replacement bill is good. John
  3. Sean, Are the rear calipers OK? John
  4. I have 3As on the rear which have done about 17k, Landsail 558s on front only about 13k. All inflated to 35psi. Perhaps I should go up to 40psi? I would guess they will all make 30k miles even on the rubbish roads round here. Quiet, grippy, economical and gentle on the wallet. John
  5. My cousin's husband had an interesting experience when he took his 58 reg 65k miles IS250 for a service with Lexus dealer. They said their courtesy car insurance would not cover him as he is 90. The manager solved the problem by driving them to where they were going to go shopping. When they were finished shopping, they rang him and he came and picked them up. He was not too old for them to suggest he might like to trade in the 250 for a new model. John
  6. John, Wonderful news at last but with the floods will they be able to get to you? John
  7. Andrew, What was wrong with the TPMS sensors. I'm guessing flat batteries for a 2008 car but if dos how come on warranty? You were very lucky to get the shock absorber replaced. John
  8. Nigel, Is the tyre losing pressure because the bead is sitting on some corrosion on the rim? A good tyre place should thoroughly clean the rim before putting on a tyre. With only 13k miles is this the problem here? One of my tyres had this problem and cleaning the rim cured it. John
  9. You can add Aston Martin Valkyrie to the list of cars. J
  10. Susan, Is Kidlington just north of Oxford too far? Good garage and recently they were trained up on hybrids so they now look after my hybrid. But I have been with them over 50 years. See https://www.summertowngarage.co.uk. Send them a message about what you want? John
  11. Sadly both glove box and central armrest are completely devoid of iPod connectors. Thanks guys. John
  12. Wow! Real money. Would a s/h iPod not be much cheaper and according to others on this tread just work? Would an old iPhone also work?* What is very annoying is that I have an iPod and according to Lexus history my car has the iPod option. Whereabouts in the glove compartment does the cable emerge? I'll go and look more carefully. John * Can you PM me?
  13. Rameez, If you don't have an iPod to try, might this be worth a punt? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Apple-iPod-touch-4th-Generation-Black-8GB/202899208657?hash=item2f3dbc39d1:g:M9MAAOSw8hpePDJn I tried a 3.5mm jack to cassette tape adaptor. It was very cheap and very bad. John
  14. I have just dug out my old iPod and am charging it. I also have the car. What do I need to connect them together? John
  15. Rameez, If the connector goes into the system then there is perhaps hope. I am guessing you have connected a bluetooth dongle because you have a phone with the later lightning connector? Can you get a phone or iPod with 30 pin connector to try it? A lighting to 30pin adaptor might help but the only one I found on eBay was just for charging. If the connector does go into the system then I can only guess it replaces one of the other inputs - CD, radio, tape - but you have tried these. I would like to connect my ancient and otherwise unused iPod because it is much less bother than loading up the CD changer. A simple solution would be great. Please keep us informed. John
  16. Rameez, I don't have a connector in my glovebox. My iPhone connects to my system for calls. I don't know how I might get audio to play. Could this connector you have be just a charging cable? John
  17. John, Get some ProSlip greases https://www.amazon.co.uk/ProSlip-Caliper-Lubricant-Toyota-Mercedes/dp/B07886FP12/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Proslip&qid=1580559800&sr=8-1. These may be on our site somewhere and be discounted. Also leave keys in the house so you can't accidentally switch on whilst discs are off. John
  18. Phil, Are the bulbs HIDs? If so this sounds like the typical failure mode. As John says replace both. Could they be the originals? John
  19. Steven, I should have said a call to Richard at Hybrid Battery Solutions in Northampton may save a lot of hassle. He is very experienced and has an excellent reputation on these forums. He is also a member I think. Richard? John
  20. The vents can get restricted - having a dog in the car doesn't help. I don't think I have ever heard my fans. It is straightforward though tedious to remove the boot trim and then remove the duct connecting the fan to the vent on rear parcel shelf. It is then easy to clean. John
  21. It is as Richard says BUT it is very much easier on a hot day. If it is not hot heat up behind the glass with a hair dryer first. I fist tried mine when it was cold and feared I would break something. Later on a hot day the glass just pooped out of the clips very easily. John
  22. John, Search for a post by Bitprius. He explains the difference. (Motors immersed in fluid etc.) John
  23. Richie, I bought a cheap one (about £12) off eBay for my 98 GS and it was absolutely fine. Unusually I had to take the motor but apart to remove a broken bit of belt but that was straightforward. John
