I have previously looked up the service history of my car and I think it was on lexus.co.uk. I am logged in now but cannot find my service history. Can someone point me in right direction please? John

KayCee, We all feel for you! This forum has encouraged me to tackle some jobs myself and it has given me real satisfaction (and saved money). Perhaps you can be encouraged? I replaced my front discs and pads yesterday. It took me less than three hours and I have to sit on the pavement (fortunately very few pedestrians). The pads and discs cost £94 (AGR Automotive) and some ProSlip pin, pad and clip greases cost <£10 with LOC discount. Just changing pads is much less work and time. The seized rear caliper can almost certainly be freed off, greased with proper grease and put back. (I've done this too.) Lexus don't do this, preferring to change the complete unit. (The cynic in me wonders if they send your old caliper to be refurbished and resold.) There is a little video tutorial on this site. There is probably a video for the front discs and pads but I haven't searched. Can't help with the fuel pump insulator sorry. Have a go! John

I had a slow leak until I replaced the tyres. The tyre place cleaned the rims where the rubber sits. I have not pumped up the tyre since. Ask you tyre place to deflate the tyre, clean the rim and then inflate without moving the carcass round the rim to save rebalancing. John

I have used the same garage for the last 50+ years. Today I discovered that they are now ready to service hybrids. (Oxford City goes emission free in 2020 so they are expecting business to grow.) They can do the hybrid health check (though perhaps not with he insurance that might apply to a Lexus check). They can even service the hybrid battery. There is a Toyota dealer nearby if the customer wants Toyota stuff - 0W20 oil in my case. See http://www.summertowngarage.co.uk I will report after they have done the minor service + MOT on my car at the end of this month. John

John, Not only did you do it cheaper but you were probably saved a lot of grief if my searches are to be believed. My browser warns that MIL's website is faulty and I go there it my peril. I looked for other things about MIJ and could find nothing good about them at all! Appalling customer reviews. John

Syed, Glad to hear you were able to pull over safely. It must have been very scary. How fast were you going? Could you explain what you meant by "engine collapsed" please? There are a lot of us on this forum with GS450hs both older and more miles so this is more than idle curiosity. John

Great gathering. As non-F owner I was allowed to take pictures. Sadly as non-F owner not many paid attention when I said cheese 🙁 J J -
That sold quickly

Whilst still on the airfield? Anyway I'm sure none of you F owners 😇 ever do anything which might result in a fine. John -

Do I get a ride in a GSF and an RCF if I come? John -
Brian, In sport mode the dampers are stiffened up. Thanks to Britprius I know this one and I played with my old dampers.😊 There is a rod which goes down the inside of the main damper piston shaft. This is rotated to change the damper characteristics. I assume a little motor on the top of the mounting does the rotating. You were fortunate getting your fronts changed under warranty. John

Vlad, The Xenons on the Mk3 are not great. I hope yours are much better for your long winter nights. Do tell us when you have used them. John

What was the most ridiculous "human error" in your car ever?
OldTrout replied to Ben01's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
Wonderful story from Britprius about engine not connected to wheels. I think that one will take some beating. John -
What was the worst and best car you ever owned?
OldTrout replied to dutchie01's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
Worst equal was a Peugeot 305 estate which was great for carry-cots but when the cam followers failed - poor hardening - the repair was half the vehicle's worth. Ford and Vauxhall had similar troubles: one repaired for nothing the other had a £45 kit. The other was an Austin Allegro 1500 which just after an expensive service to get it past the emmisions test was nicked and torched. About 10pm I had phone call from the police. "Do you own....?" "Yes." "Where is it?" "Outside my house officer." "Would you like to go and check sir?" "Ah, it's not!" "That is because it is at the top of Cheney Lane burnt out." Probably did me a favour. Had a full tank of fuel too. Best is present Lexus. John -
Den, Please ignore my previous stupid reply - I had not read your original post properly. cruisermark's list is very good summary. Bear in mind you are looking at an 11 year old car. HID lamps have a finite life and do dim with age. Replacements range from very low cost to £70. I have yet to see a comparison of light output differences. The little batteries inside the TPMS valves have a finite life too but they can be replaced for much less than complete new valves. The power is great but the very comfortable seats are not designed for rapid cornering. A luxury cruiser rather than a boy racer. On the other hand it could probably see off lots of boy racers if it could be bothered. Hope you find a good one and enjoy it. John

Den, My 2007 450h does not look like that!. Could that be an IS? Even a 2005 model? John

Reflection in windscreen.
OldTrout replied to Hadrian's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Adrian I am glad you have fixed the problem. My point though is why we have this problem at all. The binnacle should be non-reflecting by design. It should not be necessary for the owner to make bits of stick-on non-reflective material. John
