Not doubting your experience in any way, but 3-4 months ago I had both my front calipers replaced under warranty from Lexus without issue.

I have also had one rear caliper replaced last year, again without any hassle.

I guess it does depend on which dealer you take it to.  Both the dealer and the warranty company have told me that they have a good relationship, so I suppose the warranty people are more likely to believe what the dealer says.

    Hi Shahpor,

That's useful to know, when I inquired with Lexus warranty people 2 years ago they said calipers are not covered, it seems as if things have changed since then. In which case I would probably go for the Lexus warranty.  PS Which dealer do you use?

  2. Hi Guys,

I thought it would be useful to share my experience.

I bought an IS250 SEL auto 57 plate with 63k on the clock in 2015 from a dodgy independent but it had a full Lexus SH with invoices etc. I serviced it at a local Indy who I know and trust (funnily enough they are merc & Bmw specialist).

I had a choice between warranty wise and Lexus warranty (roughly the same price), in the end I went with warranty wise.

Approximately 9 months later my front calipers went and warranty wise paid for the labor and parts. Lexus quoted over £800 for the same job and not covered by the lex warranty. The indy garage told me that its all about the wording the mechanic or technician uses in the report.

In two years of ownership I have replaced; Wipers, oxygen sensor, Battery, Tyres, discs, calipers, headlight bulbs and filters.

Other than that the car has not given me any issues.

damn, those sure would look good, probably need to remove headlights to install them ? meaning you need to remove whole bumper etc. never done that before, would be too nerve wrecking for me that i wouldn't  damage/scratch something :D

    Hi Goldwyn,

It's on my list to do so I havent had a chance yet. I remember reading that its a pretty easy swap. I would recommend checking out youtube there are tons of DIY is250 guides sitting in there :)

  4. It's the smoothest in its category, beats a 3series, class, a4 etc (I haven't driven a X type yet).

Tip stay away from the sport and buy an auto and you won't regret it.

I live near speed humps so it was very important to me when I was looking at the time.

Ultimately it can't beat a 4x4 or an S class with air suspension but those cars are a different category and a lot more expensive.

  5. I was planning to sign up to the Lexus warranty in Oct 15 for my 07 plate is250, then my local independent (who I trust) highly recommended warrantywise as one of the better ones (but far from perfect).

At first I regretted coughing up almost £380 then about 9 months later my front calipers went, It would have cost me £850 from Lexus or £700 from local inc labour. Warrantywise paid for the labour and parts, thus it paid for itself.

I have heard of horror stories for both.

    Confirmed. Head gasket blown.

Waiting on a price for parts, but it's £1500 labour I have been quoted

    Sorry to hear about your head gasket, I found this recon engine on eBay for £700, perhaps this could help;

  7. Hey guys,

A little while ago I spoke to a local businesses who is well connected with the council and is in the property game for the last 30 years.

He said head of traffic departments in London councils are usually run by people who don't drive and hate cars. Thus instead of spending money on schools, social services and local policing they would rather waste it on road schemes to get rid of parking, narrow roads, enforce 20mph zones, install more humps and traffic lights. Currently most new builds in London are being built without parking.

A recent development near me of a few 100 flats said that there are only 10 parking spaces and they are for car clubs only because a car club vehicle can serve 30 households...... (I just gave up at that point)

I am forced to use the train to go to work daily and I can assure you its not a viable alternative, esp at rush hour.

  8. Hi Dave,

O2 sensors going are pretty common at that age, mine went too. How much does Lexus charge?

You can buy the HAS branded ones from eurocarparts for around £55 or Denso OEM spec for about £100 from a UK supplier http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/parts-info?id=11426&cat=2070&sub=2080&sec=2083&var=0&dc=&gen=&searchKey=&searchPart=

'm not sure about the circuit heating up but im sure one of the members on this forum can be of help.
