I can confirm that this elusive warranty still exists. Mine was renewed at Hedge, Southampton back in August. It was £550 and included Lexus breakdown for both our RX450 and Smart Car. The documentation seemed a little vague on this point so I did check with the dedicated help line! We had a SC430 a few years ago with the same warranty & they paid up without complaint when the headlights needed replacement. They never shared the bill but I hate to think how much it would have cost.

I also had the old extended warranty a few years ago, however due to luck more than judgement, didn’t get bitten by the change. I had a headlight leveler & both headlights replaced under that warranty so I’m a bit of a convert! Considering they include AA cover with European breakdown I think it’s a great deal.

Just to echo what Frank said. I just signed up with Connor at Hedge End for the 10 year plus extended warranty today, he was extremely helpful & efficient. It was great to talk to someone who didn’t think I was crazy. I’m also waiting for a reply from Lexus UK on the subject of being passed from pillar to post trying to track down this product. I’ll be interested to see what they say.

We had a madly infuriating and intermittent squeak from the front OS which started the day after we got the car! Turned out to be a bad shock absorber. It passed the bounce test & was ok around town but was very skittery on surface changes at motorway speeds. As you said, your problem could just be coincidence but it might be that the change to the alignment has slightly altered the loadings within the suspension, which possibly translates into a squeak in a 9 year old bush. As to tracking it down, that's tricky. If it was really bad it would have been spotted on a MOT. A mechanic would probably take a pry bar to each joint where there is a bush looking for excess movement or wear. You could consider squirting a bit of silicon on every bush to see if that temporally fixes it. As an aside we also get the quiet groan at low speeds on uneven surfaces. You have to listen for it with the radio off & the top down but I try hard not to obsess about it.

What I think they are saying is that you have to run an extra wire (what they call the red accessory wire) directly from the positive post of the battery (not through the BatteryBrain) to the fuse that supplies the alarm. However, it seems to me that if the majority of the battery drain is coming from the alarm (as opposed to a light that's always on in the boot or faulty amp or even lights left on auto) your not really gaining anything. As long as you unlock the car before using the battery brain remote to disconnect the battery you would be ok but I'm not sure I would always remember! There is also the issue of any small print in your insurance, as they like any reason not to pay out. We have had some success on other cars with a battery conditioner. We even tried a (cheap) solar panel which added an extra week or so.
