  1. Regarding the relax warranty, if I take the car in at 99.9k miles and get the service done, you get the whole 10l 1 year limit, so warranty potentially up to 110k and 11 years. it’s a good offer, however I can see the 100k service not being cheap!!
  2. Thanks for the useful info, I’m not confident enough to be messing with brakes, I’m going to take it for mot at local garage and I’ll get them to do a basic service on the brakes. If they were close to need replacing, Lexus dealer would have made a big fuss, they just said keep an eye on them, they replace front discs at 25mm and rear at 16mm (or close too ok those numbers) mine they said were at that limit. They also mentioned a dry leak on the water pump, gave me the option to replace at my cost of £349.00 but didn’t think it was bad enough to do under warranty!
  3. Wow, 147l on the original brakes is amazing, I thought I was doing well. You could be right, might just need a clean and grease
  4. Confirmed that no leeway with relax by dealer. found rear brakes binding slightly which was probably the cause of the noise. Discs and pads will need replacing soon, £508 front, £490 rear…painful. They are not mot failure so I’ll get them done soon, will try local garage first, don’t think it will be £1k!!
  5. Sorry, you’re wrong, it was actually more generous, 30 days or 2000 miles from schedule service interval. I remember pushing it myself right to the 2k limit. This was for the extended warranty after the 3 year manufacturer, 2 or 1 offer. Item (d) under T&C’s.
  6. 5 weeks lost every couple of years wouldn’t be a problem for me, I’m having to get it serviced every 9/10 months, in fairness I’m still not concerned as the free warranty is massive plus which more than pays for the lost few months. Mind you I think most Lexus are 10k whatever warranty you have, i read some maybe 2 years 20k which is more in line with others.
  7. Thanks for the reply, it looks like I won’t be benefiting for the free warranty much long, another 14k or about a year. I think £500 for the post 100k is a little too much as generally the car has been so reliable, I understand that the risks are greater the older it gets, however £500 a year, plus cheaper service outside of Lexus dealers could provide a decent pot if saved for repairs, risking it i know. It used to be £500 for two years with the two for one offer which included breakdown, that was a no brainier at that price.
  8. Cheers for replies, the noise is intermittent, however sometimes really loud, difficult to tell where it’s coming from. I appreciate brakes are not covered, would something like a wheel bearing be? Also, are the dealers particularly expensive for disk and pads? It’s a 2015 IS300h, our local garage is not that cheap anyway. looks like no leeway on the millage now then, 1 mile or 1 day puts it out of warranty, I’m sure previously it was 1k and 1 month, 10k miles means its every 10 months service for us.
  9. Does anyone know if there is any allowance to the 10k/1 year additional warranty? My car has gone just over, about 80 miles before I realised that the 10k limited had been reached. Does it mean it no longer has a valid warranty? It’s in to Lexus this week for service and mot, it’s been making a squeaking/squealing sound, reported the fault previously but they couldn’t find anything, does seems to be getting worse, I think it might be brake related as 86k and still on original disks and pads, in which case warranty won’t come into it, however could be something else which is covered by warranty. On the manufacturer and extended warranty you paid for, there was a 1k millage allowance or 4 weeks to give you time to get it into the dealer, can’t see any reference to that now with the free warranty.
  10. I’m the OP and so far the auto glass screen is fine, been a few years now. Can’t remember how the lights were fixed, I think they just started working. What does bugs me are councils not laying proper roads, around our way no final hot tarmac is applied, they simply leave the gravel and allow the stones to be pressed in by the traffic, they have a 20 mph speed limit for ages. Van’s or cars who don’t care, speed past as stones fly everywhere, lots of damaged cars, reported to council they don’t care as too expensive to finish roads properly, they don’t have the cash, they say can’t do anything about speeders. Roads also horrible to drive on!
  11. Why would the hybrids be cheaper?? They are the same price new and the hybrid makes a lot of sense for a lot of buyers, the 5.0 is nice and makes the right noise but for someone like me who actually wants to use it as a daily I’ll never use the full power of the 5.0, I’d end up getting rid due to high running costs once the new car buzz is gone. For 99% of the time the hybrid is perfect…for me anyway! I’d love them to be cheaper.
  12. I’ve had HUD in my last twocars, tried it for 5 mins, rather underwhelming and turned it off! Certainly wouldn’t consider it essential and would take the upgraded audio any day. Even the base spec non sport plus is quite nice, wheels on the plus are better but personally not bothered about the rear spoiler and alcantara, if anything the full leather and glass roof seems more appealing on the base, just an opinion before someone comes with internet shotgun fully loaded!!
  13. I stopped taking this video seriously when he said "loads of room in the back, a true 2+2 and passengers won't have any complaints" .... total BS if I've every heard it, all cars in this segment have back seats for show, Lexus is no different!! BMW (850i loses every competition with LC), you sure about this? what are you measuring that it loses every competition? I assume you are comparing the M850i? The LC500 is a great car and most on here have some interest in it, if you think a handful of people on an internet forum have the ability to talk down prices then time to get professional help!
  14. I was referring to the hybrid drivetrain when talking about easier to live with, it’s very smooth and great in city traffic where if used as a daily the car will spend most of its time in, also the urban figures are more than slightly different 38.7 vs 16.2 mpg, is the V8 figure wrong for urban city driving? seems a massive difference, however figures are from Autotrader so could we’ll be out.
  15. All the talk here is about the 5.0lt LC500, any views on the LC500h? Running costs are important particularly as it maybe your only car. The LC500h still seems reasonable performance with reduced running costs, still get the looks, quality materials and possibly easier to live with on a daily basis?
