Isf Value Tracking...
Womble72 replied to Stuno1's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
You hear that Lexus provides wonderful service but I have to admit, I've moved away from them on my is250. Never been impressed by my nearest dealer. I just would want peace of mind if something goes bang, although I guess something like warranty wise would offer the same. In my opinion, if it's got full history n the Indy garage is known to be a good one it wouldn't phase me at all, I'd do the homework on the history before I'd make a decision, they truly are bullet proof IF the cars looked after. After my experience of main dealers I don't trust them or believe them, much rather line the pocket of an Indy I trust, and pay half the cost, I'm sorry but £100+ an hour is exstorsion, I'd love to earn that. -
Mines a 58-reg, just clocked 50k today, I love her more now than when I first got her, looking forward to my trip to brands hatch tomorrow

Not sure what to recommend, BUT my F was first reg in the Channel Islands, it's a UK car but NOT mainland, there are no emissions on the car, road tax here is £505 for the F, mine is £230 a yr, as a legal doc can't be changed surely this would apply to you too. It maybe worth looking into, you maybe able to get an island car and not pay the exstorsionate tax your paying now. Being on my 4th Lexus, I'm in the same boat as you, didn't think much of the new IS, but I don't plan on changing mine anytime soon either, IF ever. I use an old banger for my daily commute, so I can't see me changing mine, only thing I fancy tho is an Aston. Good luck with your mammoth task.

Emjay 82, I personally wouldn't buy from main dealer only, servicing is done better by some Indy garages, I've had 3 previous lexus's, and after the first two that had full main dealer history, both had not been done as per schedule, the 3rd a new IS 250 was only serviced by Westfield "Lexus specialists ", just sold it for £6500 on an 06, my F has full main dealer history, but I only purchased due to not being able to find any private sales in "my" preferred colour, I have no intention of going to main dealer, they missed the 60k 6 yr service, n "oops sorry we didn't realise" don't cut it with me, I full trust Westfield as one less costumer is less money to them personally n not a corporation, but each to there own. Good luck in your search, they really are fantastic cars -
If it helps, my IS-250 se-l has always been serviced at westfields from new,if u ring, Ian or Chris own it, there both ex Lexus mechanics, they can tell u all about the car, what's been done and IF there is anything that's needs to be done, my F will be going there as all 3 previous lexus's I've owned have been, there half the price of Lexus n twice as good. Good luck

I'm on my 4th Lexus, only one IS-F, had the 200, 300, 250 and now the F, I've only ever had to out lay for tyres, pads, discs and yearly service, never had any issues at all. I wouldn't have any other car than a jap. There fantastic cars, like a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Mine is 7 yrs in October, last year at 6 yrs the main dealers failed to do the 60k 6yr service, mileage was 45k then, now is 49k n due a service, I phoned Lexus to findout if it had plugs at 6yr (42k) they said no, so am I to assume that it doesn't require a 60k 6yr service, Lexus are saying so, so why not last year? (Pre my ownership) feeling confused n concerned. Not sure what to do??

Isf On Ebay Cat D Looks Dodgy
Womble72 replied to North west beast's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I bought a Vauxhall Signum (cat c) 2.0 tdi as my daily drive to London, cat D is light cosmetic damage, no structural damage, my Signum needed a wing, head light, rad pack n bumper, they cat C'd the car which was a bit harsh, no chassis damage, cost me £200 to repair, I'm not a mechanic, but was an easy fix, cat C is on the log book, can't be removed, cat D isn't, but is logged on HPI report for cars, dates etc, I saw this ad a couple of months ago when I bought my F, but if a shell was required is would have been a cat C, so something not right about the ad, cat D has never put me off, but on an F I'd have to think twice, mainly due to the rarity of them. -
New Owner Saying Hello
Womble72 replied to mrfunex's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Welcome, there a fantastic machine, as for tax, if read correctly, it's only on new Eco cars n luxury cars, older cars will remain the same, there can't be new bands set for older cars. It's a way of recouping the loss of going green, I always said that zero/low emission cars would get hit "in time" -
Mine looks bad close up, as do many, I suppose, not bad from a distance, my black one noticed a lot more, they seem to be stoning all my local roads too, to the point that I'm avoiding them altogether at the mo, have two chips in my screen of my daily driver of late. Typical (cheap fix) for our roads these days

Isf Value Tracking...
Womble72 replied to Stuno1's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I do agree Stu, millage plays a massive part, so to do finances, I'd love a 20k millage one, but I know I couldn't afford one too. -

Me, personally, the millage wouldn't bother me, providing it had full history, the millage would settle, due to myself not using mine much, I paid £20,500 for my 58, with 49k, BUT I held out for the colour I wanted, but if one came along with 80k n all the paperwork n history, I'd have happily saved a few quid, obv in the right colour for me. -
Westfield "Westfield Motors" in Rawreth, very helpful, have always given me a call prior to any additional work required or given a heads up IF anything will need attention on next service

I'm sorry to say that I've little faith in main dealers, having had my IS-200 and my IS-300 both with full FLSH having not been serviced as the specified requirements list, I started to opt for the local specialist to me, my IS-250 SE-L has not been to a main dealer from new, only for a recall job, when asked why by Lexus, I stated my two previous cars and the issues, when asked I told them where I go n why I opted for the specialist, they know the garage well, but they never gave any explanation or offered any comfort/reassurance for me to take it to them. Being Ex Lexus mechanics, they know the IS-F too, have a couple on their books. They quoted me £4-500 for the 60k service

Wish I could make it, we've a road trip to Spain, going to see the father in law, so won't be around, BUT will look forward to the photos,.....the cars looking good, n hopefully some more IS-F's will make it -
Have been quoted 8-900 at main dealers, Lexus specialist near me has quoted 4-500 for 60k service due next, BUT car has done 49k, so I've a question for all, do I do the 60k service on age or miles?? Probably won't hit 60k for another couple of years. Thanks Paul

Rcf At Goodwood
Womble72 replied to Grey One's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Not aware of an ISF next year, when I was in Lexus, (last month) I asked about that possibility, I was told there is a plan for a GSF next year, but no plans for the IS. -

My 250 is black, the F is red, 250 needs a clean n hasn't been used, covered about 100 miles in the F, the F looks cleaner. Lol -

Yes, even more so, the F changes down the box in manual mode, unlike the 250, don't get me wrong, I love my 250 too, but the response from the F is something like I've never experienced, had an M3 about 10yrs ago, but this is something else. Still have my 250, honestly wish I could keep both -
Thanks Stu,
