  1. I use a Volvo V70 D5 for my daily commute to London also for the dog and a skip on wheels as doing a large extension on the house, use the F once a week for work as most weekends I'm working on the house, have also just bought a Z1000SX delivery taking place on 3/9/16.....looking forward to more time in it when house is finally completed
  2. Looking very nice, mine on the other hand had FLSH,.....well did until I had the 60k carried out by a very good friend and excellent mechanic that I trust implicitly, I'd have more faith in a non maindealer example, so good luck to u and I'm sure yours was purchased at much more appealing figure than most 👍
  3. Strange, very strange, not one derogatory reply on the thread. Wish ur friend good luck with his ongoing search
  4. Just need a garage that size now 😳
  5. Sorry, no, never have never will have any faith in main dealers...
  6. Looks very nice, mine has 52k on a 58 plate, wouldn't ever think of letting mine go for that figure daresay the kids might for £80k when I'm gone. Lol.....don't ever see me parting with mine, wish him luck 👍
  7. A friend has given me a "clay bar".....he said it gives a "mirror" finish,.....has anyone used one?? always dubious about something I know nothing about when it comes to the car 🙄
  8. 44- Electrical engineer (Senior Technician) TFL underground
  9. My average fuel is 23/25ish, early 30's on a run, servicing is as costly as you want it to be, I opted out of maindealer on my last one, 60k service was £475, I also know them personally so I know it's been done with genuine Lexus parts, not worried about "FLSH" as I don't plan to sell on.
  10. Not been on here for a while what with work and house building, couldn't have made yesterday anyway due to an airport run collecting the wife n youngest, but iam gutted to have missed it, may possibly have been able to pop in, albeit in the wife's RAV4 or my Volvo D5 estate, wouldn't have been able to come in the F as I couldn't fit the luggage in the boot 😔.....next time hopefully
  11. Plates look good, think the postcode part is to prove the legality, spacing, height and print to dvla rules, ones without are "show plates" but as long as the height and print are legal, most/normal police don't seem to bother, it's mainly the ANPR reader that will flag up if it can't be read, old prefix plates n modern plates are spaced different, so it proves the ANPR reader can read the change in spacing, it's really just down to the officer, im sure your be fine.
  12. Looks good, think the spacing is an optical illusion, think it's right from top left of I and the top right of F, illusion is there is more to the F than the I.....if that makes sence 😳......Lexus insurance was ridiculous on mine too, I pay £268 with 12k millage, done 3k this year, but not worth the premium change for less miles, I'm also old 44 now 😏 Like Pete said, should be ok, only a jobs worth, mine has been misplaced for 17yrs, ghosting too, never had an issue, mot too, only advised. Good luck, be careful with the sport button, seems to flick a switch in the head too. Lots more responsive, lots more fun, paddles in the lanes also makes for a more enjoyable drive. 👍
  13. I've had my plate 17 years, spacing is and has always been offset, I've never been pulled once for it, was told as long as it's the required height, not distorted by bolts, italic letters and its readable by the ANPR then it should be fine, obviously there is the odd moron out there, thankfully I've not met him yet, paul
  14. Hi Tom, bought mine from Lexus Coventry last year, if your dealing with Richard, give him my regards, was an expensive weekend away at the Motofest that weekend. I'm sure you'll love the car all the best Paul
  15. I've a couple of old school mates that run a tyre company, prices will vary on sizes, prices become cheaper with more cars use that size, I've not had the pleasure of replacing mine yet, but I had a figure of £200 ish a corner in mind, running costs I've found to be between 18mpg and 24mpg, got 32mpg on a 700mile round trip run, but not an expensive car compared to a friends RS-5 who's typical mpg is 16mpg to 24mpg on runs, I opted to service outside Lexus, for my personal experiences with main dealers, my 60k with genuine Lexus parts was £475, oil alone is £140 as the car takes 10ltrs on a change, this is my 4th IS, never cost anything other than serviceable items, cant think of a better car to own, Paul
  16. Not sure if this helps, not the same car, but years ago I had a 24v mondeo estate, had an intermittent misfire, garage had it several times until it happened whilst on a test drive with them, it turned out one of the plugs had a hairline fracture in it, they replaced the plugs n never had an issue again, after having the 60k one on mine recently, I'd hazard a guess it's going to be one of the rear plugs, 2 to 3 hrs to replace due to location, also probably a service item that doesn't get done even though paying for it with a main dealer. Be interesting to know the outcome. Fingers crossed it's something simple 👍
  17. Good luck to u, hope u enjoy the car, I'm sure the car will be enjoyed, having a few friends in the force, they are serviced often, and at the end of the day we don't have the roads for permanent abuse, and they're built to last, I'm sure u got it for a good price too, enjoy your new purchase 👍
  18. Looks like a lovely car, enjoy 👍
  19. IF I did the mileage I used to I'd have a 220d over anything else out there, I'm on my 4th Lexus now, don't know what else is buy, and I still prefer the old IS to the new one, didn't think much of the new one
  20. Totally agree, 25k would be a lot of round town driving, lol, when I had my diesel I'd hit the rev limiter about once a week, 2nd and 3rd gear to blast out all deposits, obviously once warm, pdf filters are a gov emission statement to global issues, they're a con, can only be cleaned out once, then a replacement is needed, normally about £1500, the old one then gets put in landfill due to contamination, so NOT environmentally friendly like we think, worse thing ever invented, it's does a diesel good to hit the limiter a couple of times weekly, as it does a petrol, monthly. But anything under 25000 miles you may as well buy a petrol, as you are no better off financially.
  21. I may well be wrong, BUT, I'm led to believe the Diesel issues on ALL cars are mainly down to using cheap supermarket fuels, I've a friend (mechanic) who informs me the only way to buy a diesel is new, that way u know what fuels been put in, they also state that u need to doing in the region of 25k a year mileage to make it a worthy purchase due to the additional new cost difference,.....they do say you get what u pay for, I've not used a supermarket fuel station for about 8 years now
  22. Let us know how u get on, mine was advertised as £505 road tax as per uk emissions, Lexus say that has to be advertised that way due to uk law, so hopefully yours will be the same, may well be a legal requirement, but fingers crossed the same applies for yours, as far as I'm aware, the fact that it's a uk car "non mainland" there's no logbook to generate, so hopefully the legal document won't change and the emissions won't be registered, have got a uk Reg number yet? Or have they said what the figure will be? Paul
