  1. Reasons I hate the foot brake: My mate jumped in the car when I first got it, parked on a hill (Don't ask me why he did it), engine off just looking round, pressed it off thinking he was putting the clutch in. Wife Hates it (occasional driver). I dislocated my left knee years ago. As a consequence keeping my leg bent for long periods of time is really uncomfortable, when I straighten my leg I have a habit of "shinning" the foot brake. I've often wondered what would happen in a crash, do I get a foot brake going through my shin! I'm sure (hope) lexus will have considered this! I use meet and greet at the airport quite a lot. Foot brake is often off when I pick the car up.
  2. Glad its not just me. I was thinking maybe i'm too critical. Don't get me wrong, it's not all the rattles all the time, just certain road surfaces / temperatures. but enough to be annoying and mainly quiet enough to drown out with the radio (as long as that isn't too loud to cause rattles...) Sounds like I might have 2 fixes to try then. Armrest and door seal. I will test this weekend. Thanks for the idea's.
  3. Very interesting comments, for me: The Good: - Seat Comfort - Windows slow down just before closing. - Car feels balanced while driving - Boot straps are perfect sized for strapping down a 5L paint tin! - Driving position - Solid feel of car. - how quiet the ride is. The Bad: - hate the hand foot brake - no dampening on boot lid. - Arms on boot lid crush boot contents (should be into a pocket not rotate into the storage space). - Rattles (made worse by how quiet the cabin is)
  4. never had a complaint on mine (xperia z3). infact sometimes people haven't realised i'm on handsfree.
  5. Was in germany a couple of weeks back, and really pleased to get an Audi A5 cabriolet. It had a CVT transmission. I have to say it was absolutely horrendous to the point of been dangerous. The transmission in the IS is unbelievably better. I think I understand now why people have such negativity towards the CVT's. From a dead start, foot flat to the floor there was, what felt like a 3 second delay before the car moved (As I found out when i pulled out on a truck). My colleague is a massive fan of audi, and even he couldn't believe it. Normal driving, it felt like driving a manual car, but a manual car where a 5 year old is in charge of the clutch. Just setting off in normal traffic I had to be careful to avoid wheel spin. Anyway rant over.... anyone else experienced CVT in other cars?
  6. long commute to work 65miles (20miles A roads), no traffic I get low 50's, hit a bit of traffic and I get high 50's. I drive a little faster than you as well. If I really try (no traffic) setting the needle at 70 and 50 through the road works, then I can get over 60mpg.
  7. Been reading the good and bad thread and it seems everyone is praising the build quality. I know the car is uber quiet so rattles stand out like a sore thumb, but does nobody else think the car is a little bit too rattly / creaky. I had a mazda before this and even after 10 years and 120,000miles it wasn't as rattly as the IS, or certainly wasn't as noticeable. I get the following rattles. - Rattle from the armrest rest when light pressure is applied. - Rattle from the seat belt adjuster. - Rattle from instrument cluster when the car is cold. - Rattle from the door card (waist rail). - Severe rattle from front of door card when the window is open (audible over wind noise). - creaks from console when knee resting against it. - Rattle from Door card if knee resting against it. - Rattle from clock area (flat area infront of nav screen). - horrendous rattling when the stereo is on quite loud. nobody else find the same? Even my wife doesn't think its as good as it should be. Can't imagine I've been that unlucky to get a bad car. Am I just too critical?
  8. Mines a 2015 model and not fixed. (Had the fix now) I have also started noticing again, worse when the weather is cold and at a slightly lower speed than before. Not as bad as it was before the fix, but certainly noticeable. Hopefully it won't get worse as the weather worsens.
  9. Glad to hear it is a 100% fix. Can I ask you a strange question. Since mine had the fix I've noticed sometimes that the "EV" light flickers on and off like it can't decided where our not to go into EV mode. Not sure if it is a problem I should go back to the dealer for. Also it enters EV mode at speeds upto 70mph if going downhill which it never did before. It's intermittent now though so hard to shore the dealer.
  10. What is the RX wiper defrost feature?
  11. I was cleaning mine today and installing a dash cam. Bloody door chime was doing my head in! Must be an easy software fix. I thought it would stop eventually but my patience ran out first!
  12. Did you ever get it working, I have the same phone and haven't managed
  13. sounds about average. I've just taken a job in Crewe (used to work there before), 65miles back to yorkshire and easily 2 hours if setting off at the wrong time. Takes me on average 2.5 hours from coventry where I am now which is 150miles....
  14. forgot to mention, a form for the assist came in the post the week after buying the car and had to send off a tear off panel with wifes details to add her to the policy.
  15. I got 3 years Lexus assist, it also covered my wife and her car. I'm sure if you take it back they will clean it. My (soon to be previous) employer are based a 2 min walk from the dealer I bought my car from. When it went in for warranty work they cleaned it for me, and when I joked I'd have to bring in every couple of weeks they actually genuinely offered to wash it for free if I didn't have time and didn't mind leaving it with them for the day (at least I think she was been genuine).
  16. She used to drive an RX8, I told her that you have to rev the engine hard and let redline and make it beep every now and then or you'll damage the engine. The first time she did it she was overtaking a bus in 30 zone in 3rd gear, so doing about 80mph! I do quite like the thought of having a 135i as a weekend toy... My friend just got the new M3, it is absolutely amazing. I was really shocked by the whole experience of noise and power.
  17. ha, ok, just worked it out... I'm simple, sorry for hijacking the thread!
  18. ok the picture thingy, just watched a video and I don't get an attach an item thingy button in the bottom left hand bit. Is this because i'm a member via Facebook?
  19. Well Just spoke to a very chirpy woman at hastings direct and have been told that they allow them and don't class them as a modification and apologised that they don't yet offer a discount for customers who don't have them installed. Hopefully I'll have mine in this time next week. Anyone know how to post pictures here. I'll take some during installation if it is of benefit to others.
  20. Well I hope hastings direct don't class it as a modification as I just ordered one!!! might phone them tonight just in case!
  21. Hi I was talking to a guy at work about getting one of these as he has one. He was told by his insurance that this is classed as a car modification and advised him to remove it. Any one have any thoughts? Had a look on google and all the results seem to suggest that a dash cam could reduce your insurance? which I'd thought to ask him which insurance company he was with.
  22. ok, which I never read the comment about lease deals. Just had a very quick look and M135i is coming in very nice for the wife, not much more than her crappy suzuki is probably going to cost us over 3 years of ownership ;). She only does about 4,000miles / year so fuel economy really doesn't matter... :)
  23. Oh my god that is cheap. I bet depreciation is more than that. Do you mind me asking what the deal was (mileage / term / deposit etc), My wife is after a new car, I bet over 3 years of ownership that has worked out cheaper than her crappy suzuki.
  24. Well, I have just done my first 150 mile journey, with the modification to the rear dampener. I wouldn't say it is a 100% fix but it really is only barely noticeable, and I was deliberately driving to make it as bad as it could be, and only on one stretch of the M1 would I say I noticed it when I wasn't trying to notice it (ie, radio on quite loud), and even then, I think had I not had the issue in the first place I wouldn't have actually thought anything of it as it was quite subtle. I actually Emailed this forum topic over to the dealer (Lexus Coventry) as the first time the car was in they knew nothing about this issue. They rung Lexus UK and ordered the parts the same day. I would say if you have a similarly affected car then might be worth doing the same as I think this is isolated to a handful of cars that dealers are maybe not aware. Not sure how correct this is, the service guy said the fault is caused by a manufacturing issue with the chassis.
  25. Does my head in when people who think they know everything there is to do with motoring say to me "yeah but the drone of the engine due to the CVT transmission" just because they have read in a review by a journalist that has been given the keys then driven it like a knob for day has come up with that conclusion. I am guilty of this by the way, until I drove one properly and engine rarely got above 2,000rpm when driving normally, with no noticeable noise or drone. I must admit if I had bought this for the track, or drove everywhere like I stole the car then I would be in agreement with most reviewers, but normal driving 95% of the time, I prefer the CVT. Wait a couple of months, the next time you get in an auto Diesel stuck in traffic, you will be shocked by how agricultural they sound.
