I'm switching back from the larger tyre sizes (on the car when I purchased), to stock. If nothing else I begrudge being charged extra by the insurance company for declaring the alteration.
I had mine detailed in December, including the clay bar, good results. Would like to go the whole hog and get the full paint correction but couldn't justify the spend and the car being out of action for a longer period.
Thanks for the heads up Neil, much appreciated, I actually won the bidding for the set off ebay the other week, following the nod from 🐀. They should be with me on Friday ready for the new summer tyres!
The Conti's Sport Contact 6 are pretty good value at the moment, £700 which is £100 cheaper than the Michelin. Looking like my choice at the moment. Good to hear your positive experience with Conti's 👍
I'm tempted by the 'claimed' premium/top rated brands (Michelin/Continental) if only to experience how much better they are vs the Vredstein that were originally on the car.
I bought my ISF back from the Republic of Ireland. It was a degree easier because the car was originally a UK car. The car was sat on the drive for a week-10 days until I could drive on the UK roads. It was also tricky to find an insurer who would insure the car on foreign plates. If there's a company who do it for you, I would certainly consider this, especially as it's not a UK spec.
£660 for Bridgestone fitted
£800 for Michelin PSS fitted
£640 for Vredstein fitted
£700 for Continental fitted
£725 for Good Year F1 Asymmetric 2/3 fitted
£650 for Pirelli P Zero fitted
Bit of a minefield 😕..... was about to push the button on some Michelin PSS but then started to look at other options. Vredstein were on the car when I purchased the car, seemed OK but had nothing to compare them to apart from the winter Bridgestones which have been Ok.
Bridgestone are the only manufacturers approved tyres when searching online, you get the lexus logo next to the tyres. Surely it doesn't make any difference right?
Make sure you account for the cost of ownership, not just the purchase price. It will cost you a fortune in coffee, cake, Michelin accommodation in Wales and fast food from motorway service stations on route to these meets 😁
So the test part (which is actually the glove box trim off of the 2012/13 IS250) is back. Now for the test of trying to match the top coat to the ISF shade (which I think could just be the resin yellowing). I'm quite happy with weave itself but I need to get the right....
