  1. It turned out the dab reception was always ok, but I was using a 12v adaptor to charge my phone which was causing interference, now I have changed it I rarely lose signal.
  2. On a 15 mile run this evening achieved 63.1 mpg pretty impressive.
  3. Now my reception issue is sorted, I have no problem with DAB, sound quality is better than FM, for some reason though it seems more "basey"
  4. That makes sense, must be very short runs.
  5. I think it's setup, car, lights, the sensitivity can be adjusted.
  6. How much data do you use streaming? I have 6g per month but only use 2-3 normally so have some capacity spare, although I normally prefer radio anyway.
  7. Rayaans, I'm a bit confused, on the thread about nx mpg you posted "My wife's IS on the other hand got 55mpg on the motorway when brought back from Chester. In town its doing about 45mpg but still, pretty good." Now it seems you struggle to beat 30mpg?
  8. Rayaans, you appear to have a serious problem there, are you doing lots of short trips? On any journey over 3-4 miles I can't get below 40 mpg (on trip )
  9. Terry, what do you mean by"non hybrid" mode? Geoff, the figure quoted, is I assume from the car computer? If so I would expect 50 mpg+ although I have noticed with the slightly collet weather my economy has taken a hit on shorter journeys.
  10. Thanks Normski, never experienced anything like it before, that time of the morning, it was lucky I thought to kick him and his key out! Just wondered if it could affect anything else in the car?
  11. The issues with EV's are down to the range, and refuelling, if I could get an EV with a realistic 200 mile range at a sensible price it would suit me, I do about 20,000 miles per year, some days just about 6 miles to the office, typically about 100-120 on "normal" longer days, but very occasionally longer - tomorrow being exceptional , probably close to 400 miles, but on a long day like that, I would happily stop at services for a 30 minute break to charge, especially as it would have saved me about £30+ on fuel. As range increases, there will be less demand on charging on the go, as for most people they would only need to charge up weekly, normally at home, or I am sure in time on street chargers (metered?) will become common. Electricity is cheap to distribute in comparison to other fuels, and as most charging would be done at night, could use "surplus" capacity.
  12. How is that different to petrol? Appreciate that currently there aren't so many electric points available, but in time that will increase, electricity is easier to distribute than petrol etc, electric cars can be charged anywhere there is a power supply, admittedly slowly at the moment, but in time more and more fast chargers will appear, as compared to petrol, the charging facilities are far cheaper to install, also the need for them will probably diminish as cars become capable of longer ranges.
  13. I had an issue this morning whilst picking up a colleague, he walked across to the car, and whilst level with the front wing, used his remote to lock his Audi which was nearby, he then got in the car, I tried to start the car, but kept getting the message "hybrid system has stopped" after a couple of minutes, I asked him to get out the car, as soon as he did, the car started. Anyone else experienced this, was it a one-off, or could his key have caused some form of interference?
  14. I agree battery must be the future, so simple, and relatively cheap. Several manufacturers seem obsessed with hydrogen, but I really can't see the benefit of producing hydrogen elsewhere simply to use in an on board generator, surely electricity can be generated more efficiently off site? The onlybenefit I can see is range when hydrogen stations become common, but I'm confident by then the range/capacity of batteries will be far better. Once the range issue is resolved hopefully manufacturers will produce affordable and desirable cars , if lexus did an is electric with a real life 250 range for similar proceed to the 300h that would be perfect, surely a battery and motor should ultimately be cheaper than the complex engine, hybrid set up currently?
  15. have you seen this electric carhttp://www.partsgateway.co.uk/pgtimes/porsche-electric-600bhp-car Yeah, I suppose that will do! ......If I could negotiate about a 70% discount that is?.........
  16. Ganzoom, exactly the same thoughts as me, we test drive a Mercedes e class coupe, which I have always loved from afar, but after driving the lexus, the Interior felt bland, and the refinement was like a tractor. After a couple of days, I also decided petrol and diesel were history, my next car will be electric, hopefully something like an electric rcf with about a 250 mile range.
  17. I don't think I will get anywhere, but have contacted the council and submitted a claim anyway.
  18. Whilst"kerb crawling" earlier, looking for a clients house I hit a kerbstone which was sticking out, I have alloy wheel cover, but will attempt to claim of the council as the tyre looks pretty badly damaged as well.
  19. It would be nice to have a "daily" option.
  20. Sadly that doesn't surprise me, at least the tpm system warned you before your holiday.
  21. My IS is 3 stage pearlescent mesa red I doubt a decent bodyshop would prep & spray it for £120!! The smart repair would have been nice finish he just didnt prep it properly. Doesn't matter. Paint cost is pretty much the same anyway regardless That sounds more like mates rates?
  22. Isn't that just the next 3 services not the next 3 years? If you ate doing 20000 miles pa then the servicing will only last you 18 months.
  23. That was also the issue with my daughters, but then after 10 years a bit of yellowing is acceptable! After replacing though it does look much better, and the old film was showing the stone chips, but the paint was perfect, so definitely worth having.
