  1. There is a company in Northampton which offers overhaul of the battery units, As I am away for a few days I don't have the details, but I'm sure that if you google Toyota/Lexus battery pack repairs you'll probably find them. The chap that told me about them said that his repair cost less that 1/3 of the dealer price.
  2. The fix is fairly easy, the wipers were obviously taken off at the stem and put back in the wrong place. Take off both wiper arms then with them off operate the wipers and let them self stop. Replace the wiper arms and job done.
  3. It might sound obvious, but have you checked for any debris trapped in the tyre tread? I had most peculiar noises when driving home after having new tyres fitted, it turned out to be a stone jammed in the centre of the tyre tread.
  4. I can confirm that since I fitted a 2015 sat-nav disk not only have some of the locks on the sat-nav inputs been removed, also there are more of the telephone inputs available. Hope that helps.
  5. I've just sold a Toyota Celica, Japanese import, and for that I had a small unit which fitted into the line from the sender in the gearbox to the speedo head. This had the effect of reducing the number of pulses to the speedo by the ratio of 16/10. I then bought a new dial card for the speedo from a chap on the Celica Club UK site which showed the readings in MPH instead of KPH. The total cost, nine years ago was less than £50.00. I'm sure that if you enquired on any of the Toyota sites you'd be able to find the information and hardware that you need.
  6. I had this problem on a Jag, it was caused by a problem with the immobiliser chip in the key. I found the cause by starting the car with my wife's key, and then started the car with my key but inserting it upside-down. Would be worth a try with another key if the problem occurs again.
  7. Hi Chris, I've just checked the windscreen and it does say Lexus on the bottom RH corner, on the clear part of the glass and then below it in the black area it says LEXUS GB with a 07000 phone number. Since I've taken more care about where I keep my keys the problem has not reoccurred so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the interest.
  8. You will need to look if the car is an SE or an SEL, as this will show if it has mechanical or air suspension. Both types after 10 years can show problems but completely different problems depending on the type.
  9. Just as a quick trial, drive without a rear passenger but with the rear armrest in the down position.
  10. Whilst I can empathise with your problem, I am afraid that I cannot be much help. I am convinced that you and only you can decide what is important to you, and with two such differing cars it's a bit like trying to compare a pet rabbit with a pet dog, both are excellent in their own way, but at the end of the day they are completely different animals. I chose my RX because I wanted the size, comfort and "waftability", but I can see that a Prius would give reliability at a lower cost, and if cost is an important factor then that could sway the decision. The problem is of course, if you follow that line of thought to it's logical conclusion you would end up with a Smart Car. Best of luck, but remember that in the end you only have to justify your decision to you.
  11. I've always found a helpful method of preparing to remove sheared bolts is to heat the bolts either with a blowtorch or a cigarette lighter or even the wife's hairdryer, and then with an aerosol can of 3 in 1 oil or WD40, give the bolt a good squirt then leave for a few hours, this should help with the freeing process. Best of luck.
  12. I've done a lot of mods to my boats used on the sea and wouldn't think of using anything but stainless steel bolts for long life and ease of removal.
  13. I have a 2008 400h and have just bought an updated set of sat-nav discs, so I have a complete set of 2008 discs with the manual which I will let you have for a very small fee if it's any good to you. P.M. if you wish. Roger
  14. Do make sure that your mirror selector switch, the one that you use when adjusting the mirror, is set to either the left of right mirror, as if you have it in the central position this turns the auto dip off.
  15. When I went on Lexus-mapupdates.eu I entered the number from my disc and it did not recognise it, so I clicked the help button and it brought up a picture of the numbers on the disc, needless to say I was using the wrong number, I entered the correct number and disc was recognised and the recommendation for the uypdated replacement came up. Hope that this helps.
