  1. As above has any one removed the logo to paint the centre cap.
  2. Around york is 45 per wheel on average, thing with wheels they get easily marked and before you know it they spend more time off the car than on it. As you say kerb damage stone chip pot hole and all other mannner of things.
  3. Yes they know that they go hazy or yellow, more money for them. Vauxhall cars are terrible for it , mine seem fine at the moment .
  4. Thats a good price was that per wheel or all 4. Ideally i wanted mine the car colour , a bright silver but the paint would have been thick end of £40.00. Then the etching primer normal primer and laquer looking at about £90.00.
  5. Etching primer is a must on bare metal , then primer and paint as normal. Thats why you get the etching in the kits, i already done the backs only used a tin. That was 2 coats each wheel with a 400ml tin.
  6. Thanks for that i fitted winters to my front wheel drive octavias, could not believe the grip. Not that we have had any really bad weather, i finish work early hours, so dont want to get caught out. I love this forum quick reply from knowledgeable people.
  7. Has any body driven their lexus in snow whats the feeling , did you have winters fitted.
  8. Have purchased some winter tyres for the original wheels . Painting them gunmetal grey, bought 4 new original 10 spoke for summers. Not owened a rear wheel drive for a lot of years so a new experience. Guy with bmw at work said they need winter tyres.
  9. I am in the process of refurbing my original wheels, cleaned them to bare metal etched primed just waiting on paint coming. Doing them gunmetal grey bought kit off ebay, Consists of 4 x paint 2 x laquer and one etch primer. Cost £30.00 good reviews on products as well.
  10. Well tried it out today a lot quicker pickup for sure, does the snow mode work .What does it do lower revs or is it a gimmick.
  11. The issue to many keys on one of the fobs , when i use just the spare nothing at all quiet as a mouse. That is sat in the ashtray in front.
  12. As Normski says get in touch with dealer, im sorry i did not mean to sound like i dont care. I would be absolutely livid if it was my car.
  13. When its a new car its different james, as you have said my car is nearing 9 yrs old. When i bought it full history did not really count, you can be shown every bill in the world its not worth the paper its writtten on. Your eyes and ears are your best tools when purchasing anything,if it does not seem right walk away. Lexus have been ringing me about something thats about to run out, i have missed the calls and they have been informed when im home. I take it must be a service plan of some sort, i dont have a dealer where i live so suppose it would be toyota. But at the prices they charge thats a no no, i am pretty hands on i keep my cars a number of years upward of 4 thats why i pay the extra for low milage when im able. My vehicles are serviced more than most and always immaculate in and out, no food drink smoking in my cars. If they need a part ithey get it simple as that .
  14. Yoy can buy bags for wheels for your winters i have them for my winters they are Vw do upto a 19 inch wheel. Other makes are available about £30.00 a set of 4.
  15. Cartridge start weeping fluid if the springs shot they normally break no warning just go, what makes you ask what mileage have you done. Speed humps are the bain of cars now suspension and steering parts also tyres with tracking.
  16. Yes i know what you are saying i have not looked at this service book properly, what i am saying on my last car these were parts ticked as changed and billed as done.Every service is different normally the more the miles the more the cost, which stands to reason. Oil and filters can be done by most people on a drive oil air pollen and fuel filters, washer bottle should always be topped up engine coolant and brake fluid should only be done if you feel 100% you can do it properly. Its just think what your doing and see how people have done jobs your not familiar with. I took the stereo out to fit a dash cam, watched on utube a few times and went and didi it easier than it looked to be honest. But and its a big but damage can be done if you dont use the right tools then you better have deep pockets parts for these babys are not cheap.
  17. last car i owned had a full service 1000 mls before i bought it at dealer. got a fault evap system ie air con filter and charcoal cannister The air con filter had never been changed the amount of leaves that fell in the car was unbelievable, all ticked items in service book when i checked most were not done. Not saying all dealers are same just saying we checked this and that which is easy peasy, as above says look at your bill three quarters is labour and vat. Full service history on older cars means nothing use your eyes and ears best tools going. I know its hard to beleive i bought the oil filter tool before the car reading about the pitfalls forwarned and forarmed.
  18. Dont really know but dont suppose it will be cheap in your neck of the woods. Must admit i have access to a pit at work and also a lot of mechanics. So i am at an advantage, i own a lot of tools myself done engine change clutches gearboxes suspension and the like. Already done a brake service since owning car next job will be oil filter and new plugs, read about the plugs been a pain but will do the job myself. Electrics are a bain but have a diagnostics which is quite a good one at finding faults. Im not a mechanic but have worked on all cars i have owned and many more i have not. It boils down to common sense and remember what you have taken off from where, i will admit if you dont have the tools it can become expensive when you may only use a tool once. Best source of informations come from these sites people have done jobs and any pitfalls and tools you may need.
  19. Thnk a lot of garages do a lot of checking or looking and then advise you require x y z for a substansial price. Any one can top water and check fluid levels. Its crazy prices circa £100.00 an hour labour i know they have a showroom and staff to pay but the cost of oil and filter circa £60.00. Brake fluid change price in york 40.00 most indy garages, are they not electronic stearing greaseing calipers is easy do it yourself and a sure way of keeping costs down for an hour or 2 of your own time.
  20. Took all the keys off the fob easy fix, realised only did it when carrying all the keys, used spare quiet as a mouse. Friends Nissan Almera did same car would not start keys were interfering with immobaliser.
  21. Well all sorted now nice and quiet herd of similar in nissan so tryed and sorted.
  22. Well finally sorted the annoying noise herd of similar in nissans so gave it a try nice and quiet again.
