  1. Clay barring should only be done if needed. Go over the paint with a food bag, very lightly you will here if it needs doing. Not doing it when its needed is false, as you are just coating over the rubbish thats there. The new clay mitts are brilliant, half an hour or so to do a complete car. Thats windows lights the lot. The difference is night and day believe me. Sometimes just clay barring leaves stunning results, then just polish and then wax the car. I have had people scoff at me untill i clay bar their cars, then its a different comment. Clay barring does not remove scratches, but cleans all marks, including the odd tar marks we all pick up.
  2. http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pdfs/painthardness.pdf I coated my car with Gtechniq C1 after i machined my car, I have no trouble at all with any bird droppings or other marks. Quick detail spray and off it comes. Lexus paint is soft as it states in the pdf. I detailed my car a few weeks ago, with rupes grey pad and Uhs compound. And Scholl S20 and honey pad, it shines like a jewel.
  3. Linas P Yes i had fuel pressure sensor gasket done as have many others. Had my car full day others a few hours?? Get them both done at the same time. Leave half a tank of fuel and they will put about 5 gallon in.
  4. My brother inlaws Avensis 54 plate goes in next thursday for the airbag 2 to 4 hours.
  5. Im not an expert but disconnecting the earth is a good idea. Welding is an art in itself. Is it a mig welder? Do you not know anybody who can do this for you.
  6. Its around the 500.00 mark dependant where you live. I had mine done on a recall, cost 160.00 .Only reason it was the fuel pressure sensor, and inlet manifold had to come off anyway. A set of plugs is about 80.00, gaskets i bought from Usa about 21.00 delivered. I bought the gaskets as soon as i bought the car, to do the job myself. There is a how to on utube i believe. It takes about 2 hours. Some body on here was quoted about 600.00 recently. Read recall questions he was quoted 645.00 with a service.
  7. I would fit a solid fly wheel and 3 piece kit, cheaper to replace in the long run. Dual mass are a pain in the neck mate.
  8. I know what i would of said to that as well. Think they can rip everybody off cheeky buggers.
  9. I did same as you, had the plugs done at the same time. Fuel pressure sensor is at the back of the engine. As you say inlet manifold has to come off to do both jobs so a no brainer to me. Charged me £160.00 to do the plugs, which was a win win for me. Mine was at Lexus Bradford so can not comment on dealers in the south. Also there is an airbag recall any time soon, so may pay to wait and get all done together.
  10. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3074085 Have a read of this.
  11. Over inflation also makes tyres bald in the middle. On Vw group cars they sawtooth to the cord, on the rears.
  12. Sounds like the tracking is way out. whoever did it did not do a proper job.
  13. Yes seems an odd one about the service. As charge for taxi i would of been livid to say the least. Air con is a mind field mate iv been there with different car costs stupid money. As of a poor job on car, only one person cleans mine and that is me. I have an airbag recall pending, it will go to Bradford again. Faultless work done, got a good deal on spark plugs doing as were soon on a to do list. I had bought the rubber gaskets from Usa to start the work. Then got the fuel pressure gasket recall so a no brainer really.
  14. Are Lexus Woodford so bad? Lexus Bradford were great, i could not fault them. Having said that i called Lexus Leeds first, but a member on here talked me out of going there. I thought Lexus dealers were suposed to be the best. Have you notified Lexus Uk about them, i am sure they would like to know.
  15. Europarts have 20% off all service parts on line. Do your brakes not work at all ? Have they seized up ?
  16. Yes it would of been done allround, part number for rear track rod end. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FITS-LEXUS-IS250-350-IS-F-GS300-350-430-460-05-12-REAR-LEFT-TRACK-CONTROL-ROD-/262062328932?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus&hash=item3d0421cc64:g:ok0AAOSwfZ1WbXlu
  17. I have not noticed any oil consumption, since i changed my oil and filters. Its an odd dipstick, when you dip the oil its half way up the stick. I thnk they may of under filled the oil. Put 5 litres in and thought that was it. Have you checked your pollen filter, make sure you watch utube video. Does the brake fluid not look clean. Dealer rung me last week saying mot was due, when i pointed out i just had it done, and they had just done the recall work said i must be the wrong person. Bit strange dont you think. I do most of my own work, then i know its done properly. A stamp in a book is just that, i do oil and filters every 4 - 5000 miles and dont care if its over kill. For about £70.00 peace of mind. Brakes i do the pins twice a year, when i change to winter then back to summer tyres. Check pads and discs and replace if needed.
  18. Brake fluid may need a change. Costs about £40.00 engine oil may have been low after last change, takes just over 6 litres. Pollen filter is an easy change If caliper was changed at a dealer, they should then replace it. My own view dealer is scare mongering, and after some work. At the end of the day you can check most of the items.
  19. Yes i tried that it runs ok then starts to splutter. I have taken cover off but not a lot to see. I have had a look for a pdf but no success.
  20. Yes had a look on utube and the like, not a great deal on them to be honest. It must be over a year since used.
  21. As above own a nilfisk 110.4 not used in a while. when i tried it today it kept stuttering then nothing coming out at all. There was a little bit of muck in the filter. which i cleaned out but still the same.
