  1. Yes you will be fine, if you get stopped by plod you are going to the dealers anyway. Looks like same colour as mine,is it 1G1 paint code.
  2. The petrol have issues also, a recent head gasket by a forum member. Most have been in for the fuel pressure sensor gasket, and awaiting the air bag recall. Its all gone quiet on that front. In america they have had even bigger issues. I am on many forums. And you want to thank yourself, you do not own a Vw group car. Diesel gate is only a small part of there problems. With the Lexus the problem seems to be the Diesel is not much more fuel efficient than the petrol. Mazda diesels are another to be avoided if only doing short journeys.
  3. You are entitled to your opinion, as you say you have knowledge of both. I personally would not buy any diesel vehicle. If people are happy with them then that is good, i am happy i came on the forum first, i also google all cars i am interested in for faults. All cars have them unfortunately, in this day and age you would think they would be more reliable. On that note i wish all a happy and prosperous new year.
  4. Must say the Dhp wheels, look very much like mercedes wheel. And really suit the car.
  5. As above states what age are you? Mileage to be covered? Value is it garaged? Whats is your post code.
  6. Has a different driver been in the car, some times wireing gets knocked. Have you tried unplugging the seat connectors and spraying with electrical spray. As above states,Obd2 readers are worth their weight if they are a good machine. If you were local i would of offered to plug my machine in.
  7. Maybe one of the levellers has given up the ghost. If its a fuse should be in the handbook.
  8. HI Jack iv tried loads of different dust caps, all different price range also. I have plastic on now dont particular like them, but have no problem with them all tyre fitters use them for a reason. Nothing worse than pliers on the valve stem, trying to get a dust cap off. And i never say to myself what lovely dust caps a certain car has on.Often think great wheels, its each to their own on this subject im for plastic.
  9. Fit plastic caps kids leave them alone, and dont have the problem. Seriously its brass valves and alloy dust caps not a good mix, smear vasoline over the threads then put the cap on. Problem should be solved hopefully.
  10. Well thats one big out lay there by the time works completed.
  11. Wow thats bad look there my friend. As already stated these thing go for a reason. Must say when i read up on them, this fault was only on the diesels.
  12. Then use a different Mot station. Cars are built with them nowadays to protect them from the elements. As people have said lots of electricals on modern cars. What was the advisories for? Modern cars are galvernised so wings rarely rust, mirrors on extenslon sticks are for checking what the eyes can not see. Last 3 cars i have owned have had covers, as would 90% of modern cars so how can they give advisories.
  13. They can not give you an advisory for covers. Thats why super cars are road tested as nothing is seen on most of them. On buses at work covers are removed for obvious reasons. Also a couple of rear panals are also removed, Exhaust side. On the lexus the covers are mainly at the front, Brake pipes and most of the exhaust, suspension is all seen. As john says they cant remove them.
  14. They look more appealing on the eyes, with engine covers on. As already stated, dont serve a known purpose that im aware of.
  15. Well i wish my original wheels were in that condition, they are immaculate compared to how mine were.
  16. There could be a problem, if your wheels are as bad as you say. They require yours to refurb, so will be taking your tyres off for the new wheels.
  17. Very strage have herd of tyres for Bmw only, they have some very odd sizes. Strange a Lexus dealer saying that, yes them wheels already been refurbed so will probrably be better than new ones.
  18. All fuels have additives of some sort in them, as i understand adding extra does no good because of the direct injection. I could be wrong. But in america engines have been recalled and stripped down, having said that our fuel is better quality.
  19. Dr leather do wipes a lot of car detailers use and swear by them. Must be good its there living.
  20. You can buy a set of original wheels cerca £400.00. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-IS-220-IS-250-4-X-17-GENUINE-ALLOY-WHEELS-/112212916078?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus&hash=item1a2069376e:g:VIsAAOSwal5YI2HC
  21. The new grit guard looks a nice bit of kit.
  22. I run on Bp 95 ron fuel, no need for and to pay the extra for a supposedly better fuel. There is a good utube video on fuel proven to be not needed for non performance cars, no extra bhp as claimed by shell bp ultra etc. I never buy from asda morrisons and the likes. If i find the video i will post it. It will open your eyes of all you people who think shell vpower is the bees knees. Its amazing the lies we are told.
  23. I think your mechanic has hit the nail on the head. He is not second quessing as the proof is there. Personally i would take his advise, you are lucky to have such a guy to hand. Dont think the scrape is any thing other than just that. Im not a diesel expert by any means but have seen many of these valves gummed up.
  24. My wheels are metalic anthrasite and look very good with the silver car. I have had black wheels, and am not a lover to be honest. But it is each to there own, i believe if you dont change to larger wheels, a darker colour would possibly benefit with lowering and car been black. By that i mean give the impression of larger rims.
