What exactly is your spec. Sunroof is only thing i miss. Hid lights sunroof and sat nav are expensive options, fitted to the top models. To which you pay a premium to own. Sat nav does not bother me, i miss a sunroof do not drive with windows down. Xenon lights i now own due to my hid kit. Strange you can turn the washers off for them. On my Vrs they used to wash the headlights every 5th go when lights were on. They need to be clean, so as to not throw the light pattern off. Did you not know about the different specs before buying?? Do your home work then shocks are kept to a minimum. I read all i can about future cars i am thinking of buying. I had a budget of x amount and look for low mileage vehicles. A decent spec and know if a top spec car comes within budget to be very weary. Look on well known sights, and get a feeling for price private and dealer. Specs colour and history,having said the latter history is not the be all and end all. When vehicles are over 8 years old, use your eyes and ears. Take a non biased person with you we all have blinkers on when buying things. And lastly enjoy one of the best cars on the queens high way.

Just fit a 5000k Hid kit you will not fail an mot, and the car wll be transformed. Just make sure you keep the headlights clean.

Welcome Matthew to the forums, have a look to see if its due any recalls. Mine is a due an airbag recall, had fuel sensor gasket or o ring done last year. While it was in had plugs done, as inlet manifold had to come off anyway. Cost was about £160.00 all in at the dealers. Its not a hard job to do really plenty on utube. I asked for the receipt nothing stamped in the book. So may of been done already. Rear calipers are a pain, make sure you have the sliders checked a couple of times a year. I do mine when winter tyres go on and then off again. November and March. 5 Month interval. Hand brake is inboard make sure it works. Do not know why people in autos do not use them.

As above the government are thinking of changing to 4 years. It sounds good until you see most failures, are for tyres wipers and bulbs. Now if that is at 3 years what will them vehicles be like at 4 years. Mot testers are stating most failures are on french cars. Do people think its a good idea, i personally do not. A few years back there was talk of a 2 year mot another bad idea in my book. I work in a bus depot, and the number of mechanics cars that fail the mot is shocking to say the least. Admitted on small things tyres and the like. But i have never had a car fail on any of those items, I am over cautious if any thing, i spend the day before going around like a maniac checking every thing.

That is horrendous bad luck you have had, hope you got the value of the vehicle. Buying back seems a good idea at the time. I have done this myself, worst thing i ever did to be honest, i had a tree fall on the roof of a Skoda Vrs i owned. Recouping money back was easy i thought, i do not have a drive way so had no way to strip for parts,big mistake on my part. Ended up selling vehicle for less than i paid for it back .

Do you want them for show? or what they are intended for. You do not see many on vehicles, reason been them i have seen when marked look terrible. It is hard not to mark alloy wheels, the metal is the give away light alloy. I buy when i can tyres with a rim protector on.Just park away from the kerb a few inches.

Cheap tyres are cheap for a reason,why any body would fit them to a quality car is mind boggling. At the end of the day they are your contact with the road. Do not skimp buy the best you can afford, every body has their own favorites, having never used Avons of any size or description i can not comment on them. Not all makes of tyres work on every car either, what works on a front drive car may not be that good on a rear drive. Forums are best for advise on this. But then its down to personal preference once again, and also budget and driving style. Spirited motor way etc. If you are happy then that is all that matters.

Seems an unusual sound more of a drone, thats what makes me think its the prop shaft.

Could it be the prop shaft to fibrate so much. May be the centre bearing which make it feel like the gear lever.

I have an intermittent alarm when sensor at the front are wet. I blow them out with air and clears them for a while. Been like that for 18 months.

Good for you should be able to learn basics, its the special tools for oil filters and the like which is a pain. But most can be done with a good socket set. I admire your willing to learn, we all started somewhere we are not born mechanics. And of the original question keep away from halfords for servicing. Even their bulbs are rubbish really, good tools and you get great offers from time to time. There pro tools guaranteed for life, which is brilliant considering the cost.
