  1. Bumper was easy yes a couple of 10mm on inner wings about 6 under neath front of bumper. And the front panel under bonnet, takes about 15 minutes.
  2. These so called upgrade headlights have a very short life span. I fitted Hid 5000k Headlight kit. Hid fog lights 3000k 9006 kit Had to remove bumper for fogs. Head light bulbs are a pain anyway. Mine have been fitted nearly 2 years with no issues what so ever.
  3. Are they the same make air bag? Looks like the drivers on the bmw. As they are the passenger side you can turn them off if you wish. So you would not have any shrapnel, and as it looks crash dependent how many Lexus have exploded?
  4. What you say is true but its not exploded yet. Do you know of any that has? Its not only Lexus but lots fitted with these air bags. If it was Vw group cars they would probably not admit to the fault. What i was surprised at was Toyota group cars been done before the upper market brand. As its the same side air bag, i have not rung them yet may call them next week see what its all about. Might not be Airbag who knows.
  5. The group operations director has asked me to contact you, regarding some good news about you vehicle . Asked to contact them and quote LEXUSGN for further information. Thats what the letter says word for word.
  6. I disagree depends on the silver. I have had black and dark blue cars look great for half an hour. Colour of choice is now silver. And the Argento Ice silver looks very nice cleaned up. But its each to there own and good we all have our favourites.
  7. I run 225 45 17 front and 235 45 17 rear winter tyres on standard 17 inch rims, just removed for the summers. My 18 inch summer wheels are both 8J and i run 225 40 18 and 245 40 18
  8. If it is brother in law had his Avensis done took one and a half hours.
  9. I just replaced back number plate mine was screwed and tape. Old one was pealing on the rear the tape was doing nothing. Only problem i had was removing it, as the new plate was narrower. Boot has self tapping screw threads so i just drilled new plate and screw it on.
  10. Received a letter yesterday to contact Lexus. Could be about the air bag recall finally starting?
  11. Have wheels been off recently may be loose wheel bolts. Could be suspension related spring not seated right or snapped. Could also be an engine mount, i would check the rear one. Diesel engines weigh more than petrol counterparts, as a rule of thumb.
  12. Well if they did not whats holding them in??
  13. Strangest thing when i buy a car i try every button switch everything. If it does not work ask why and also a bargaining tool. Some times it is best to take somebody unbiased with you. Then you do not over look the faults. As john says abs is a massive problem if not working. Have you tried it stamping on the brakes you should feel the rat tat tat on the brake peddle.
  14. Can not understand some peoples mentality replace the fuses. Maybe a fault showing on the dash and took them out??
  15. Once inside the car are you able to unlock the rest of the doors? Are the switches on the door skins on lock or open? A little lever on door as you open.
  16. Do you have 2 fobs if so try the other one. As a rule its in the settings, failing that double click the button that should work.
  17. Also do not for get to replace the gaskets, I bought mine when i bought the vehicle as a to do job. Constists of 2 card and 3 double rubber . I got mine from Usa circa £21.00 all inclusive of taxes. These are the said item. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Felpro-5-piece-set-Intake-Manifold-Gaskets-New-For-Lexus-IS250-2006-2008-MS97084-/131406068548?hash=item1e98697b44:g:kjYAAOSwB09YSCmT
  18. I believe they were the ones lexus fitted to mine. Just trying to find paper work, mine were done on fuel sensor recall. I payed circa £160.00 if i remember right. Just had a quick look on the bay these dont seem to bad for the money. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6x-Lexus-IS250-2-5i-v6-y2005-2016-Brisk-YS-Autogas-Gasoline-Petrol-Spark-Plugs-/371438208883?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus|Model%3AIS|Cars+Type%3A250&hash=item567b714773:m:mqEBqcYSXmnEfHUwBk8V3Gw http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Lexus-Spark-Plugs-Triple-Electrode-FK20HBR11-90919-01249-/182432698067?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus|Model%3AIS|Cars+Type%3A250&hash=item2a79d60ed3:m:moYHPlETnlViJXvaPILI7IA
  19. Do it yourself most of service is checking items. Which most are visual and you can do yourself. Brakes and the likes inc fluids. Just had my brakes done today changed wheels and tyres over re greased brake sliders. Oil and filter last week £35.00. A full service kit oil and oil filter .... pollen filter .... air filter .... Circa £60.00.
  20. The problem i have if i have spare keys in my work bag, i can not open boot only with the switch. If i am working on brother in laws Avensis. I can not even get in my car with the fob. Now that is a strange one.
  21. Cable or spring may of snapped i have had a spring snap before. But its rare and not on a Lexus.
  22. Normally its the boot lock mechanism that breaks, is it complete if so then defo electrical. Unplug the lead see if power is getting to it.
  23. I would say a couple of things. Relay ..... Fuse .... Cable .... have you tried a screw driver in the boot lock?? May of locked its self.
  24. Mine was easy to do stood in a pit at work. But all joking aside, i checked my oil this morning and reading was showing on both sides on the nail.
