  1. "... and the left overs should be enough to change the horrible molasses looking power steering fluid too! May as well get both done at the same time..." Steering fluid. Another fluid to think about!
  2. Back in the day I have used Redex etc... too. I also used some Stop Oil Stop Leak stuff on my Fiat Sedici ( great little AWD ), which DID stop an oil drip. Now I just use Shell Nitro + petrol... works or not, I don't know. But with a loyalty card I do get money back vouchers on it ...
  3. Agree! If I was planning on keeping the RX for one more year, I would not have bothered, as the fluid looked 'ok'. But as the plan is for 3 ( hope an RX can last that long? My Soarer did ), then I thought, get the benefit now... ( I have noticed the difference ) [ I also had my front and rear diff oils checked - they were fine ] Japex did a great job.
  4. I'm sure it can... I used to have a Lexus Soarer ( great car, 4 litre V8 ) and work had been done to resolve all these standard issues. Best to catch up with a Japanese import specialist, who I am sure can advise you/
  5. In the end I decided to replace it. I figured if it's in a year or two, I might as well get the benefit now... I took it to JAPEX in Kings Langley ( who get good write ups on this forum ) who were excellent! They reckoned it had never been changed. So although it was 'sort of ok', it was ripe for a change. Driving home I COULD tell the difference. [ Got my air filter changed as well ] I think sometimes the Lexus service scheduled are a little vague. I wish they said, change this at this time, not ... if necessary.
  6. Did the 'clonk' get resolved now?
  7. Do Lexus in Hatfield support the scheme?
  8. On the subject of additives ... Does anyone have a view, positive or negative, on Cataclean?
  9. ABS, ESC and great tyres, I assume. ( And the numerous air bags make me feel safer too )
  10. Hello, I was reading Honest-John's column and saw this mentioned for a Mk 1. Is there such a thing ( gearbox oil filter ) for a Mk 2 or 3? Regards
  11. Looking forward to some snow to see how these perform! ( I suspect on compacted ice, it's another story? )
  12. Honest answer ... I don't know as yet. I like the idea. Just need to give it some thought now ... Piers.
  13. It's confusing to know what they DO check and/or Do?! http://www.lexus.co.uk/img/Lexus-Full-plus-100-Service-Summary_tcm880-1321791.pdf I guess your itemised bill would show you ... ( ... and how important for example are things like this, "Lubricate prop shaft joints (model dependant)" ?)
  14. Does this colour look ok, do you think? ( Sorry for the slightly 'yucky' looking pictures ... ) Regards, Piers.
  15. Thank you. Are there any other obvious drain holes around an RX that should be cleared before the Winter rains? ( And following the Summer rains :( ) Regards.
  16. Is it all ok now? Coolant 'loss' seems to be a familiar thread here...
  17. Thank you. I'm told it should be a nice bright red colour if I do a visual check - is that so? Piers.
  18. Hello, Does anyone here know how much approx., Lexus charge to change Transmission Fluid ( oil? )? Just wondering... And how often it should be done? Regards.
  19. Does it apply the brakes or just reduce power I wonder ... ?
  20. Well... You were sort of all correct... It was a combination of a sticking parking brake AND a seized calliper. ( I'd had one rear calliper done about 3 months ago - under warranty ). So ... because of my [excellent] Lexus Warranty, I had the parking brake freed up, a rear calliper replaced and a car wash and vacuum. Total cost £0 :hocus-pokus:
  21. I'm told by Lexus that it's NOT an on option on the RX300 ( Mine ), but is on the RX350 ( My wife's ).
  22. Does anyone use this for winter protection? "ACF-50 Motorcycle And Automotive All Metal Anti-Corrosion Spray"I know it's for motorbikes but I've seen it used for cars too...
