    Anyone remember this, Gliptone Vinyl Preserve? I have this bottle that has lasted me about 15 years? Love it. Sadly, this exact type I don't think is available now. I did enquire and was suggested something else, but it did not really look that similar.

    If you do, be prepared to knock off another £400 or so? If 'they' spot ANY rust, they will reduce the price further ( I suggest, based on my experience ) and you will be looking at a scrap value. Maybe, with full disclosure, sell it to an able DIYer? PS. Would the dealer buy it back?

    With all these devices, I've yet to find one I would truly have faith in, in terms of it not jamming or failing. I look at the reviews and always manage to find one that says the lock jammed, key failed etc... I still think a visible chain ( not sure how it would attach though ) and a reputable padlock (Abloy) is a potential solution?

    It's a bit of a journey for me, so I won't be there in person, though will be in spirit. John still 'reminds' me to check the manual first, as I was doing yesterday... ( Having lost my own mother recently, I know the pain and huge jumble of emotions, that last longer than I thought and probably for ever.) My sincere prayers for John, his life celebration tomorrow, and his friends, family and forum colleagues.

    Like many, I am very sad, to hear of John’s death, I feel a great loss and a sense of shock. My heartfelt condolences to all John’s family. I am sure that here, John will be remembered ( and indeed WILL always be remembered ) for his advice, guidance, interest, kindness and way with words. There is a certainty, than when I’m faced with a car related question, John’s ‘voice’ will pop into my head, “Read the Owner Manual”. And he’ll be right! John, I salute you. Thank you for your help and support, by forum and personal message. Rest in Peace, my friend.

    Rust ate my RX300 😞 I've used Lanoguard on my replacement car. Just did it myself...

    +1 Some jobs are best done by Lexus. I'm sure when it hits 30+ degrees this Summer, you regret a penny of it!

    If it's a re-gas... but then they would not know how much gas is there unless they took it all out first. I assume they mean the thing I do at home, having bought a branded aerosol from eBay, that costs me about £7 and takes about 10 minutes. That way you can use the £133 you save to buy something nice or save it for a rainy day.

    For me... the only thing between me and the road are the tyres, so they better be good, the same type, brand, condition and a brand I feel I can trust.

    This is the little chap I bought 6 months ago... It's like a mini Lexus. Same heated, folding mirrors, photochromic rear view mirror, climate control, auto lights and wipers etc...

    Sorry to hear that John. My beloved RX300 failed last year and I think it has now gone to car heaven. It would have be thousands to sort out all the rust for me. I had had welding 'done' a couple of years before, but it finally became uneconomical. It maybe worth searching this forum if you have not already, for similar themed posts? Hopefully you have caught it in time, can be back on the road and can give it a good under-seal.

    No squeaks when I had my RX300... If it persists, maybe get your dealer to sort it?

    With respect, it does feel like you have a car that has been 'changed' in quite a few places? I am guessing that makes it much more difficult to diagnose. The question marks about safety etc., are also worthy of reflection. What would I do? I would either cut my losses, which may or may not be practical, or get it trailered to a trusted independent near to you for a proper falut find and possible fix? Either way it could be costly? 😞 Good luck.
