  1. Interestingly... I was looking at a (non Lexus) car and its MOT history. It failed in February 2022 with this: Do not drive until repaired (dangerous defects): Offside Front Lower Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion which adversely affects braking or steering sub frame (6.1.1 (c) (ii)) Repair immediately (major defects): Offside Front Suspension arm pin or bush excessively worn rear bush (5.3.4 (a) (i)) Nearside Front Suspension arm pin or bush excessively worn rear bush (5.3.4 (a) (i)) Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories): Offside Front Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge (5.2.3 (e)) Nearside Rear Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c)) Offside Rear Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c)) In May 2022 it passed with no comments at all. The tyres I get, the sub-frame must have been quite a job?
  2. Oh dear. It's the fuel filler pipe. Parts and labour at an independent I trust, £600. Warnings on my brake pipes and rear sub-frame too. Might be... bye bye...
  3. I think a mix is nice. My wife... when she works from home, works longer, gets less exercise and stairs at screen. There is no cut-off time. Not entirely healthy, I think. I have retired, but when I do, do a 'bit' of part-time, I love to see colleagues, chat, travel and be in the workplace.
  4. I suppose... you could offer to take 'him' to caught and mention the word, 'perjury'. Feel for you, either way.
  5. Could it affect your insurance as a modification? Don't think I would...
  6. +1 for check the contract. I assume they are different by manufacturer and possibly change also over time. Perhaps contact in writing the "department" who arranged the "agreement'?
  7. You will probably be offered: GAP Insurance, SUPAGARD, Scratch Insurance etc... I reject them all. If... you DO want them, buy cheaper elsewhere. It is a very pleasant experience overall at Lexus. I'm sure you will be made to feel special. Ask for a tank of petrol... you might get one?!
  8. Rust seems to be a theme this week. Scotland as a long drive? Some amazing scenery awaits!
  9. Rust is eating my beloved, owned for 6 years, 2003 RX300, 113,000. It's sad as it is a great car. All the air struts are less than 5 years old, the tyres: Michelin Cross Climates have loads of tread; as a car it's been cherished. (As can happen, the sunroof no longer functions, nor the SatNav or Rear Camera.) It recently took me to Islay, Scotland and back. I did get up to 32mpg but generally it's 22mpg. But... last MOT it needed welding at the rear, and the MOT before. Currently, when filling up with petrol, the filler pipe has corroded and petrol spits out ( not when driving, just filling). I've been quoted £600 (trusted independent) to resolve it, with no Lexus parts available until June. My last MOT also highlighted Brake Pipe corrosion, Suspension Arm corrosion and Rear Sub-frame corrosion. So it feels like it's coming to end of its life - certainly with me at least. My wife, has a 450h, so we do have a big car for big journeys. I am thinking maybe a used Suzuki Swift. 'She' says we will only need one car, but its more than that, it's a 'man' thing I think, a hobby, independence etc. So MOT due in August... Time to do some thinking.
  10. My wife uses a Faraday Pouch - cheap to buy. Maybe check the dealer has all the associated documentation/manuals etc? https://lexus2.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8813/~/what-is-gracenotes%3F
  11. Americanism
  12. Maybe post a picture of yours here and someone might know its name?
  13. To resurrect an old thread... Interesting reading. I've just noticed a small puddle when I fill up my ageing RX300. I'll contact the local independent, but I fear the fix will not be cheap ( or economical )? I assume it's corrosion.
