HI Everyone.

Problem has been resolved. Thankfully, the sun was out when I took the car to mechanic. He can hear the knock and problem was immediately reproducible. First he thought it was top mount. Then disassembled everything and found one of the shock absorber was busted and showed sign of leak. He called me up next day saying anti roll bar links were not good either. To analyze the whole situation, when shock was not holding car properly especially when weather is warm, it kind of put more pressure the anti roll bar linkages which in turn make them loose, create play and knocking sound. After spending £600 on parts and labours, car is finally sorted. Thanks PCM for recommending Jepex.

Thank you PCM. They are about 45 mins (32 miles) away from my house. But hey.. if they are good with Lexus, I will go there. I am quite desperate to get it fixed.  Already sent online inquiry form.

Yes, that's for diagnosis charge. They can't guarantee they will find the fault after paying £95+vat either. Fixing is another story. As you know dealer charge arm and legs, I'd rather get it fixed at local/independent/3rd parties  garage.

Thanks Lillywhites. I presumed you had it fixed while it is in Lexus warranty? I love the car but that noise is killing me. When I contacted Lexus UK, they said they will charge something like £95+VAT or something like that.

I don't want to shell out a lot of money to replace all parts and only to find out problem is still there.

I wish I had a mechanic friend like yours. Did it make noise when you go over bump. Mine doesn't. It only happens when weather/car is hot and setting off in first.

I am reaching at the end of your tether. The front brake slider pin had been replaced. The problem with knocking noise is still there when the car makefoward/backward motions in 1st gear. Been to a few garages. They don't have the patient to wait car is warmed up and check properly. All they did was 1 mins drive quickly concluded no noise was detected. They always ask to leave the car. By the time they check it, all parts are cooled down and noise is temporarily gone. 

As the weather gets hot in UK, the noise has become a major nightmare. It feels like some kind of loose joint or part in the front suspension. 

Could a mechanic in London (specifically in Sunbury/Surrey) area check my car? Of course I will pay. If you guys know a place, will you give me a shout..

HI Jules, Looking back your previous post, are you asking whether I have straightened up the anti rattle clip on the brake? 

Sorry for lack of knowledge, could you show me what front anti rattle clip look like? in the past I tried to look for it on eBay but no one sell it for IS220D

No, I haven't had chance to replace the slider pin yet. I bought it but hasn't got time to take it to mechanic and get it replaced yet. 

I agree with your theory, it could be just rattle clip or brake slider pin. When weather gets hot, I feel like the entire end was loose.  I am planning to take the front wheels off and check today but I don't think I will be able to re-create the issue when the car is cold and on jack stand.

Thanks Jules PF. I don't know how to check if the shock mounts are bad or not. For the a/r bushes and linkage, the mechanic put the car on lift and tightened it. Not when the car is sitting on four wheels.  

The issues is it gets very loud and felt like something at the front suspension is very loose (I can even feel that in the brake padel) when weather is hot.   Now weather is getting cold again, the noise is barely noticeable.  I don't know what could possibly cause noise to get louder when the weather is hot.

Does anyone know how to find the clunk on front of IS220D when weather is hot. It is most audible when car is about to stop. Not that loud like in the video below but it is something like that. I had Sway/anti-roll bar bushes and drop links replaced last year. So I don't think it is that.

This forum has a lot of experience owners and car experts. Last time, I managed to get the part which I thought it is impossible to get hold of.  Two  mechanic I have seen can't even find the source of the noise. He just said turn up the radio. Not very helpful.

Thanks I contacted Biggred. Their reply was "Unfortunately we do not have any data on slider pin/bolts for Lexus."

Contacted the Lexus Swansea they said they don't have any data on that part either meaning even Lexus don't do slider pin on it own. The guy said it might come with entire caplier but he is not so sure. The entire caliper for each side is about £180. It may or may not come with it.

I don't know why it is so rare for this model because the other car slider pin set cost not more than 10 quid on eBay. The problem is there is a thud noise from front but the noise is gone when applying on the brake lightly. So I presumed something is loose in there and my mechanic told me slider pin are ceased and need replacing. I also noticed there is no shim between pad and caliper carrier.

I am having trouble sourcing the front and back brake caliper slider Pin/ bolt with rubber dust cover and anti rattle clips for my IS220D 2007. Eurocarpart, eBay, Halford they all don't do it. Any advice on where I can get one will be grateful.

Bad news. Exactly after 1 month of replacing the front anti-roll bar bushes, the creaking/squeaking noise has returned..

It was brand new rubber bushes. They didn't come with any grease, so I applied some red rubber grease before putting it in.

I am now very disappointed to hear them squeak everything the car raises up a bit in first gear, tight cornering and going over the speed bumps...

I'm thinking about buying another set of polyurethane version. But I don't see them available on eBay. Do you guys think Poly bushes will resolve the issue?

I have the same problem and went to garage.They put the car on MOT shaking plate machine. They could not recreate the noise or find any problems. My problem is exactly like the original poster post. It is knocking sound coming from front suspension. It makes noise when you pull away in first gear or at low speed (<20mph). Also happens when going over speed bump etc. It doesn't affect car stability or handling in any shape or form. At the high speed the noise doesn't not exist.

Anyone who replaced top strut mount fixed the issue? or any other suggestion from experience lexus owners please.... :(

This noise is driving me insane.

By the way, I replaced the front anti roll bar bushes about 4 weeks ago, it fixes the squeaking noise when going over bumps. Now this is the different noise. Can these be related?

I had the same squeak as you. I could hear it when I moved in the seat (really annoying because mine is a manual tranny and when I pushed the clutch in you could hear the squeak). When I pushed on the side bolster I could hear it. I fixed mine with the seat in the car. Took me about 10 minutes. Removed the back cover from the seat. Then I worked a small piece of cotton cloth up into the seat back between the steel and the foam. Been 4 months and hasn't made a sound since.

James, Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it. How do I remove the back cover from the seat. I tried it before. No suceess. My one is SE-L Trim with DVD screen mounted on headrest.

Reading the suggestion of seat bolts Ive had a thought of Something else you might try. I had a noise I thought was the bottom of the seat which turned out to be the plastic panel underside of the car under the driver. Around the pillar put your hand under the car, there is a plastic panel. Ther are four bolts which may be the bottom of the seat securing bolts - ther four equate to where the four are inside the car which bolt the seat rails to the floor. I found the bolts which secure this panel were loose enough so the plastic panel was able to move around a little, and I could hear it in the car. They are a bit tricky to get to but just tightening them finger tight sorted the noise. I didn't mention this previously as this noise was inmistakably coming from the bottom of the seat but may be worth a try.

One final suggestion is the noise could be the door seal. The rubber seal can get greasy over time and mine started to make a squeak over bumps. Simply wipe the rubber door seals- both around the door and frame - with a cloth with a little neat washing up liquid on - solved that squeak straight away. Not sure either of these are your problem but each only takes a few minutes to do so worth a try.....

Thanks for the suggestion. I have checked the places that you mentioned. Nothing out of ordinary. All bolts are nice and tight.

I think the squeak is coming from the actual forms inside the leather seat. It is getting louder and louder day by day.

There is no way to silence them? The picture below is from the internet. I don't have problem on passenger side. Only on the driver side is going crazy.

Tightening the bolts which hold the seat down sorted out a similar issue for me.

Thanks for the tip. the bolt are super tight. Cannot be tightened any further. If I am not wrong, you meant the bolts which secures the seats to the floor, right?

As you say the torso area this is a longish shot but - I had a noise from the right hand side of the drivers seat over bumps. Turned out that with the seat at its lowest position, the side plastic panel was rubbing on the plastic below it at the rear of the chair. To be more precise - the side panel with the buttons on - at the rear of that, at the bottom of the panel, it wraps underneath itself. There is virtually no clearance to the top of the plastic section this sits on top of (at least with me sat in it!). By raising the seat a fraction at rear the noise disappeared.

I tried lowering and raising the seat height. It helps a little bit but not much.I sprayed some silicone spray into every nook and cranny especially where leather meet plastic frame.

Not as bad as as it used to but it quiet down a bit. Thanks.

Hello everyone.. I am new to this forum.

Now I have seriously annoying squeak coming from driver side leather seat near torso area when you sit, on right hand side to be precise.

Everytime car goes over bump, it makes squeak, apprently coming from foam. I think other IS220D suffered too but I couldn't find any DIY solution except from going to dealer and get the entire seat replaced which won't happen in my case.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Also how do I clean foggy LCD panel on CD player?

I know that they lubricated the D bushes they did not change them. With Lexus Dealers you never actually see what they do but it has not been a problem since. Luckily this particular Lexus Dealer had a Service Manager who was a bit of a legend on this site unfortunately he moved on. Where is James Cook?

UPDATE: today I went to my local Grays garage with brand new set of bushing I got off from internet. The old one looks ok to me apart from having slightly wider centre. I asked them to replaced front and back anti-roll bar bushes anyway.

Greased the new bushes for good measure. Put everything back in half an hour. The rear one was much easier when you do it on the ramp.

Guess what! After the job, the car is absolute joy to drive again .No more annoying creaking noise when going over bumps.

New sets of bushes cost approx £40. That's all you need to fix it permanently (well sort of). Thank you all for very useful advice.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I think it is dried up D Bush as well, I sprayed the outside housing which seems to do absolutely nothing. I haven't taken it apart and greased the rubber bush because I have to put it on the ramp and take out all the underside engine cover to get to the bolts holding the sway bar in place. Ordered the new bushes from eBay and gonna ask Mechanic to replace it for me.

Or do you think re-greasing will do the trick?

Thanks for the reply. I have already asked Mechanic to check the brake caliper visually. He told me the pins are in place securely. All four wheels tested on the ramp, the brake calipers don't make a sound or move when wheel is spinning.

I wonder if anyone come across with their Lexus IS220D making creaking noises from suspension when going over bumps. It doesn't creak when you drive over rough surface etc.

It sounds like coming from the front area. The strange thing is noise cannot be recreated by pushing up and down at either side of the shock bar area while it is not moving. I even shake the car on MOT test plate machine. It does not make a sound.

Garage couldn't find any problem with ball joint, links, coils and shock absorb bar. It is really frustrating that it creaks like hell only when you drive over the speed bump. The steering feel absolutely fine. No abnormal behavior going over pot holes or cornering.

Mechanic thinks it might be sway bar/anti roll bar bushes but it is just a guess. I don't wanna be attacking the wrong target. Just to let you now, I have already lube and sprayed copper grease and Lithum grease to sway bar bush from outside but I haven't taken it out and grease it.. It doesn't make any improvement at all.

Any suggestion or help will be greatly appreciated. I am now loosing sleep over it.
