  1. Guys, dont know if you already know this, Ive just got a copy of Junes Banzai. K&N have released a rather nice looking Typhoon induction kit for the IS300, complete with Carbon Fibre heatshield rrp £240.00 See page 13.

    p.s

Also, the bottom of page 12 shows a pic of the new Lex LF-C V8 Concept. I want one! Looks a bit like a cross between a Ford Cougar and a Alfa Romeo 916!

  2. Ive just got off the phone with TDI about the DBA Discs. They dont have any in stock at the minute. apparently there is no recognised importer of the DBA Discs in the UK!! (now theres a business opportunity for someone!!)

They can get them but I have to wait......

I hate waiting , I feel sick if I have to wait for stuff  maybe its cos ive been spoilt.......

Does anybody know of anywhere that stocks them?

  3. Ive got the Nokia 8910i like Zee, its really bling, black Titanium Case which the phone slides out from automatically when you push the buttons on the side. Looks good in a car holder. the only trouble is, there aint many gadgets on the phone, only Bluetooth.

Ive also got a Nokia 6820 which is well nice, poly ringtones, colour screen, video and photo, Bluetooth and an ace keypad which folds over to provide a full QWERTY keyboard for texting or playing the games.

Ive got 5 contract phones all of which are upgradeable after 6 months so I get the top phones all the time.

Nokia have just released their first flip-phone, I cant remember what the model number is, but Im getting misses one, they have a cushioned case and lots of extras apparently.

  4. I think you will probably find that your mate is in the right. The company has no right to discriminate against a medical condition which was known by the Company prior to offering him/her the post.

This is not just my personal opinion, but my professional one, based on the fact that I employ 30 people.

If, however the company can show that it was misled in any way as to the seriousness of the illness and that they did not fully understand the implications of the illness and that more time off work was required than which was initially understood, then the Company may be in the right.

Hopefully for your mates sake, they dont pickup on the second bit. Usually if you are honest from day one, most companies will accommodate each persons needs and place them in a position more suited to any disability.

Another thing to look at is his/her contract of employment, which generally outline procedures for illness and what action to take etc.

Ive given you this info based on my own experiences in the past. Companies operate under different policies and procedures, and some areas of employment law are somewhat complicated so I cannot give my guarantee that this info is 100%. I am not qualified to give legal advice, only advice based on experience, I would suggest that your friend speaks to a solicitor or other person qualified to give advice.

    Thanks mate

  5. Im considering changing my discs front and rear. Is it necessary to match discs to pads, for example EBC Discs = EBC Pads, Mintex Discs = Mintex Pads etc, or can you mix and match as you like.

Ive ordered some EBC Green Stuff Pads but Ive noticed my fron discs and slightly worn, and might get some new cross drilled/grooved ones.

Its maybe a stupid question, but then again I am a little stupid sometimes.

Can anyone suggest a good quality disc?

  6. Ive just fitted my new number plates from Fancyplates.com. They look really nice folks. 10% slant on a smaller font, with nice black to silver frame and the lexus logo to the left in place of the GB badge, honeycombe background.

If your looking for a custom number plate, give them a look, you can design your own on the site and see what the finished item looks like. They only took a week to come and no messing about having to produce documents like you do in a shop.

Good idea for show plates ?

  7. I want one............NOW

Ive got a customer in malaysia who I get on really well with. I wonder if items like this are cheaper if they were to be bought by a malaysian......

I will ask and post comments. If they are mega cheaper Im having one, missing back end or not

  8. Oh, and another thing, the onset of new euro regulations regarding emission controls is costing oil companies millions in catalyst changes (thats what my company does). Catalyst Research Companies cannot manufacture new catalyst quick enough for new lower emission controls, therefore old catalysts are being changed more regular as a new catalyst performs best when new, these changes cost thousands at a time, and the units which the catalysts are loaded into are often down for several weeks, which hits them hard. for example, a Hydrocracker or a CCR convertor will cost over 100k per day in lost revenue. Theyve got to claw back the cost somewhere!!

  9. Im in the Petrochemical Business. Last week OPEC met in Amsterdam to discuss methods to up the quota in oil production. Oil prices per barrel are at a high at the moment due to low reserves so an increase in production should bring down the price, however, dont hold your breath.

Oil Companies sell their reserves to each other and the price is set by OPEC. It does not matter if you boycott Shell or BP, the price will still remain high, and I imagine the others like TFE (Total Fina Elf) will follow suit because they have to.

Also, as the price per barrel of crude is high, the oil companies will also try and force a uplift in production and keep the price high to re-stock the reserves, which means that the reserves will be sold at the higher price when they need them, probably at a profit! which means another price hike!

Unfortunately there is no solution. The oil Companies Own the world, and there is nothing we can do about it. The best way to save a bit is to buy from a major supermarket chain as they undermark their price per litre by a fraction as most people shop first and fill up on the way out.

I run on optimax so its hard luck to me...........

  10. Mmm, let me see, worst car ever,

1st Car Ford Fiest 1.1L - Cheery Bomb Exhaust, massive wheels and tyres off cortina!, everytime you went round a corner at speed, you took away part of rubber on the wing!, got pulled over gos I was speeding and the zorst used to roar at easy 150Db, the nice policeman asked if my name was Nikki F****** Lauder!

Got rid cos I wrapped it around one of those green GPO boxes.

2nd Car Lotus Cortina - got nicked!

3rd Car Capri 2.8 inj - Painted snot green with the logo "Green Meanie" painted onto the sides!

4th Car Capri 1.6 LS - which I modded to the fullest, bored and stroked to 2.1, wills gas filled rings, balanced crank, Dry Sump, Twin 45 Webers (used to suck in small wildlife), HL cam, polished and modded head, big meaty valves, home made exhaust side exit, deep dish alloys running falken 225's. It went very well, until my girlfriend at the time fell out with me and covered it in brake fluid.........bitch!

5th Car Calibra Turbo - got nicked

6th car Capri Bullet - fully loaded, but kept breaking down. Ex track Car in the Falken Tyres Championship. Too difficult to drive on the road!

(had a Yamaha RD250LC at the same time)

7th Car 1971 Mk1 Capri RS3100 - all orginal in lovely BR Green. sold it to a retired tax inspector with a heart problem!

8th Car - Astra GTE Rag Top - Bought as ONE OWNER FROM NEW. Ace Car, bumped it abit when I ran into the back of an AVENGER!, needed some paint doing so I took it in, only to find the damm thing was a RINGER, and after doing a HPI found out it was on the VEHICLE CONDITION ALERT REGISTER and was actually 3 astras made into one, and the VIN was from an astra from Manchester, the rest was from Birmingham! The finance company took me to court when I told em, they lost the case, they took the car back, they refunded my money! I was happy!

at this time, my then fiance stabbed me in the neck causing me to part with her. After a lengthy stay in hospital I returned for my stuff only to find that she had buggerred off with everything I own! So I then had to start again, and entered into the chapter of the **** CARS OF MY LIFE:

9th car Hyundai Pony ! - need I say more, THIS IS THE ****TIEST CAR IN THE WORLD - EVER. Bought the car as a "getmeabout" from my mums scrap yard for 20 quid! Rain leaked in to the heater and caught fire filling the thing with smoke out of every hole and vent available. I cleaned off some bird pooh, only to find it had been tactically dropped some time ago and had caused the bodywork to rot all the way through. The starter motor fell off on a roundabout. the horn used to sound if I went round a corner on full lock, and the drivers seat used to recline when it felt like it. Had cause to break hard for something and broke BOTH suspension struts, looked cool though, very retro, low front end, raised back end. Limped home and scrapped it!

10th car: Knackered out broken down ****box Ford Granada 2.8 Inj Ghia X, 10 Gallons to the mile, tyres from the scrappy every month, every body panel was rotten, made from sheet steel so thin you could read through it, kept it for 2 months and give it away. Last seen in mums scrap yard propping up some more granadas.

11th car Ford Focus Zetec - Still got, thinking about modding it for the track

And now ive enetered into the GREAT CARS OF MY LIFE Chapter:

10th Car IS200 Sport - THE BESTEST CAR IN THE WORLD, EVER

  11. I already decided a few months ago when I first got the lex that once our lass has passed her driving test, she can have it, and Im having a TVR, however now that ive fell in love with her (the lex, not our lass), she aint havin it, she can have the focus thats sat doing nothing, and Im keeping the lex...........oh, and Im having a TVR also, I dont care what she says............ :winky: :D

  12. Ive just taken delivery of a nice shiney set of brake calipers, many many thanks to Fargo.

In the olden days when I believed in Ford and all it stood for, I used to mod lots of stuff, including cozzy brake conversions on Capris and Ezzies. As a matter of course, I used to completely strip the calipers and get a service kit for them which included things like rubber seals, piston(s) etc.

The question is, is there such a thing as a service kit for the IS200 brake calipers? Do I really need to service them before I put them on (just to be on the safe side) or am I being a little too extreme with my attention to detail. The old ford caliper seals used to dry out and crack if they were stood too long. Could this be the same with the lex or have the japs thought of that one aswell?

    Thanks guys

Oh, bye the way, is there a supplier for pre-made braided brake hose that anyone knows, or do I have to make my own?

  13. The traffic police in this area have a light refracting/measuring device. Basically they shine a light through it and if the device measures low, they give you a ticket and you have to remove the tints within 7 days. If they see you again (which they do) they have the power to impound the motor. It was in the paper a few weeks ago, a young lad with a metro had limo all round, and they took his car off him and fined him for dangerous driving.

I think police all over the country are starting to carry these devices.

To be safe, I would only opt for the maximum legal, limo looks ace, but whats it like driving at night down a dark country lane with no street lights, you can probably only see as far as your beam pattern, but with normal glass, you can see just that little bit further.....so you can aim at rabbits.

  14. Im not in IT, but I am self employed. Hats off to anyone who has a go for themselves. Ive been doing what I do for 2 years now, got 30 people working for me, we do work in Europe, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia & Borneo and India. Not too bad, it just takes a bit of focus, and the ability to keep the revenue happy. This years good, We just won an award in the Small Business Awards 2004, gotta wear a dicky bow and go for a champagne dinner with a few MPs and stuff, we go on telly aswell (Look North) Its a dirty job, but someones gotta do it........................

Best of luck to anyone thinking of going it alone, the only people to get rich, are the people YOU work for!

    :D :D

  15. I had same problem, my brother fits em, he says its not worth it, and I begrudge paying out 50 odd quid on that little leather thing to sit the phone pod on. I just make do with a Plantronics Bluetooth earpiece and switch the stereo off ! Its alot less bother and a damm site less money. Plus you will have added expense if you decide to change your phone and it wont sit in your pod. Trust me, Ive been there and done that. :winky:
