My 2010 is doing the same but I can clear fault for number of miles by disconnecting battery and fault doesn’t reappear for some time. There seems to be a great looking answer but the graphics shown kindly by Herbs is very blurred on my screen - would love to find a solution (which won’t involve an expensive trip to Lexus main dealership!) - any other suggestions would be gratefully received 😊

Thanks again. The mechanic removed throttle body and soaked it overnight and refitted it. Still same problem - he thinks new throttle body needed (but he also thought it was the timing belt and solenoid which he changed to no improvement). Thoughts? 😊

Hi Jon thanks for this I shall feed this back to my husband - I know the initial feedback from rac when I broke down was something to do with the solenoid. This has been remedied, the timing belt changed (not sure why as it was changed 5000 miles ago) - I’ll come back shortly but much appreciated that you’ve kept on this!

So I asked my husband to give his take on your questions (very useful, thanks) as he has the job of dealing with the mechanic. The issue started when I was driving car after about 5 miles on motorway the engine started over revving and continued after I pulled over. 1. The engine will idle when the car is stationary but when the car starts moving the engine revs high to about 2500rpm and stays there when the accelerator is not pressed. 2. The engine does not cycle up or down. 3. Blipping the throttle does not return the engine to idle. 4. Fault code P1349 has been showing but changing the vvt solenoid has not remedied the problem. hope this helps to try clarify

Calling IS200 experts! 2000 IS200 is dumbfounding mechanics with over revving issue. timing belt changed vanos unit changed throttle chamber cleaned out vvti solenoid has been checked Current mechanic (Toyota trained apparently……) has had car for 2 weeks now and has had a number of differing opinions as to why the car is not running well - losing the will to live and worried about his bill……… Any words of wisdom would be most gratefully received! You may have an excellent take on this - just checked the 12v and although the flow is 11.55v there is a small amount of clear liquid sitting in the tray underneath the battery…….. ?acid? No litmus paper to test! When we had the warning light come on 10 months ago the pipe at the top of the battery was disconnected- anything to do with the liquid which has appeared?

A warning ⚠️ came up on my dash yesterday on my 15 year old RX450h. check hybrid system Any ideas how to deal with this please? Car seems to be running fine 🤞🏼 Any wise words much appreciated - thanks

Thanks to Herbie and Dave 450h. Both very informative and I’ve learned a bit more about my RX450h. Interestingly the code has now disappeared after having a look at the 12v battery my husband found a ‘breather’ pipe disconnected. After reconnecting I started up and the code was gone! The car drove beautifully back from Tuscany to England. Keeping everything crossed she behaves herself going forward……. I really did appreciate the replies I received so thank you.

Thanks Spock66! Unfortunately I don’t have that widget thing that provides fault codes with me. Lesson to be learned when planning road trip! Running purely as petrol engine so no hybrid at all. May try disconnecting the 12V to try and reboot?

Just driven from uk to Italy and for first time ever a Check Hybrid warning light (in yellow not red) has come on. No apparent issues with the car - any suggestions?

But have had an rac advisory which advised coolant pipe etc. hope this helps

Gosh that’s really kind of you! Car is in Bristol and I’m 100 miles away. So no chance of photos as son in Middle of medical exams and focussed elsewhere which I completely get! The car is a uk x reg - I think it’s purely an IS200 no add one.

My student son has been using our 23 year old IS200 and the old girl has had a few ageing issues. Most recent issue is a leak from the coolant pipe at the rear of the engine. Is this a difficult (aka very expensive) repair? We all love the car and will be sad to see her go……. Other than when she’s not behaving she runs like a dream! Has had a new radiator fitted within last 12 months. Has anybody got experience of having this leak issue and any wise words much appreciated! Thanks
