  1. Hi Chris, the chrome wheel inserts/embellishers are easy to fit. You'll need to remove the wheel to access the 10mm nuts that hold the embellishers on. In my experience you need to wire brush the stud bolt and nut and spray them with WD40 or equivalent and let it soak in. Use a 10mm socket and gingerly try to open the nut. A word of caution, the studs easily break if they're corroded...which they usually are. If you're replace the one that's broken off, the studs will easily be removed. When installing the new chrome embellisher, put plenty of grease or petroleum jelly (vaselene) on the tread and nut. You'll have to look up the nut torque. It's a just a bit over hand tight. Hope this helps.
  2. Hi, does anyone know of an independent Lexus mechanic in Preston Lancs or within say 50 miles who can repair or replace a couple of noisy hydraulic valve lifters? I'm grateful for any info. Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi. Anyone know of a decent independent Lexus mechanic in Preston Lancs or within a 50 mile radius that can repair / replace a couple of noisy tappets on a phase 3 GS450H. I'll be grateful for any info please. Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi, I began to notice some now and again clunk's coming from the rear end of my 2008 GS450h. Had the car MOT'd a couple of weeks ago and asked the mechanic to check it for me. He couldn't see anything specific, but he took a couple of photos around the differential area. When I expanded the photos, I could see the rubber diff mounting bushes were cracked. I got 2 new ones and had them fitted today. Both were totally finished, cracked and parted rubber. Runs like a dream again. So if you hear any clunk's from the rear, it might be worth checking these bushes.

  5. Thanks for your advice. Have managed to get the chrome inserts out today.
  6. Has anyone experienced this problem with GS alloy wheels. I took my car to a wheel refurbishing company to get my wheels power-coated. Within a hour of leaving the car they called me to say the chrome inserts were stuck in place. The chrome inserts are held into the wheel by 2 threaded pins, one at the inner hub and the other to the outer rim. The retaining nuts came off fairly easily, but when they tried to remove the chrome insets, they found that the inner hub ones came loose fairly easily, but the threaded pin attached to the outer rim wouldn't budge. Has anyone experienced the same and how did you remove the chrome inserts? Thanks for any help with this.
  7. I need to change the rear shocks on my 2008 GS 450h S-el which has the electronic settings adjuster for Normal -Snow - Sport. I've had a look at the top of the shocks from the boot and saw a small round electrical connector on the top of the shock absorber. Does anyone know how the procedure for removing and reinstall this connector? Thanks
  8. Thanks Farqui, greatly appreciated, I'll give them a call. Thanks again.
  9. Hi Herbert, thanks very much for your info. I know of Altys but not Ribble View, but I'll check them out. I need the rear shocks changing on a GS450h.....would you happen to know if either have previuosly worked on a 450h. Good news about a new dealership on the docks, it'll save the journey to Bolton. Thanks again.
  10. Hi, does anyone know of an Independent Lexus workshop / service mechanic in the general area of Preston, Lancashire or within 30 mile or so?
