  1. Are you sure it's not a CR1632, most of the other lexus remotes are.
  2. My BMW got an advisory about a bush. I never got around to replacing it but the same guy passed it the following year with no advisory. Maybe it healed itself. :)
  3. Super unleaded is for use with high performance engines, usually with higher compression ratios. Using it in standard engines makes no difference at all. Years ago many people would only use 5 star petrol, thinking they were really looking after their cars but in actual fact the extra lead did more harm than good. Save your money and use the recommended fuel.
  4. I've only got one key too. Here's the reply I got from Lexus. Good Morning Mr .............. Thank you for your enquiry. The price of a new key along with programming is £315.85 inc VAT We would need a copy of the V5 prior to ordering. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Regards Alan Brewer Parts Manager Lexus Bolton 301 Bury Road Bolton BL2 6BB It's a dilemma because if you lose your single key, the ECU & locks have to be changed at a cost of about £1200. Let us know if you find a cheaper option.
  5. These people are very good. http://www.myshowplates.com/number-plate-designer.asp
  6. Have you got a 'DISPLAY' button on the steering wheel, to toggle through different displays.
  7. I just moved from a BMW (525i) last week. Members here, have been very helpful so far.
  8. Thanks, I've emailed Lexus to see what they say but it's worth bearing in mind.
  9. Thanks for the advice. I'll get onto it right away. Better safe than sorry.
  10. It's funny that you only start learning about your 'new' car after you've paid your money and driven it home. There's probably about as many things you should have asked as the the ones you remembered to ask. It took about 12 months to transform my previous car (BMW 525i) to the car I thought I had bought and it looks like the Lexus is going to be the same. One thing that became apparent before I drove away, is I only had one key. It's a little hard to start re-negotiating after you've paid, so it something I have to sort later. I've looked around the internet and there's talk of master keys, sub keys, key ID tags etc. etc. All I have is one key fob. I don't know if it's the master or what and I have no ID tag. Does anyone know the best way to obtain a spare?
  11. Yes, you just do the job twice. Just run it for a few miles after the first fill to mix the new with the old, then drain and refill. It's just the difference between having half new fluid and three quarters new.
  12. It may be worth noting that there's a huge amount of fluid in the torque converter which doesn't drain out of the trans. Many people change the fluid once then run it to circulate the fluid, then change it again. You're never going to get all the old fluid out but a double change gets more of it.
  13. Yes, I figured popping out the panel to have a look was going to be the answer, I was just hoping someone had already done it. :)
  14. I need to install my dash cam in my 450h. On my BMW I connected the 12v to the sun roof feed but the Lexus has no sun roof. Does anyone know if there is an ignition switched live in the head lining near the interior lights. I'm hoping that even though the sun roof is not present, the wiring loom will be a standard item.
  15. I took the car to the Toyota dealer today, they advised on a couple of items but weren't able to do the Hybrid check. They said everything seemed to be working as it should but couldn't issue a health certificate. And for all that they charged me £0, they even gave my a couple of floor mat clips.
  16. I've just bought the car and never having had a hybrid before, it's just for my own peace of mind. I read the codes before I bought it and it all seems to work fine but if there is a fault, a report is good ammunition to use against the dealer I bought it from.
  17. Just had another email in response to my request for the possibility of doing a Hybrid Health Check. Hello John We think we can do a hybrid health check, but we would need to plug in your car to confirm. We can definitely give your car a check over which we would do for you FOC. Regards Andy Sounds good to me as long as they don't find a bunch of non existent faults. :)
  18. Photograph the project as you go. I sure many would find it interesting.
  19. I emailed my local Toyota dealer to see if they were able to service my 450h because the Lexus dealer is miles away. Here's his reply. Good Morning Mr P... We are able to service your Lexus, however we are unable to carry out any warranty work and we do not have the equipement to read diagnostic fault codes as we are not aloud access. I hope we can be of service to you and your Lexus in the future. Regards Now the warranty work I can understand but not being able to read fault codes. I thought I could do that myself. Isn't the Hybrid system in the Lexus similar to the Toyota Hybrids? Does anyone else use a Toyota dealer for Hybrid service/repairs?
  20. Morning John and a warm welcome. Why change from the BM? Why choose the 450h? Did you buy privately or from an Independant Seller or from an authorised Lexus Dealer? Does it have a full service history, Lexus or otherwise? Sorry about the questions, but the answers may help us to help you more than we might otherwise. Regards John Other than Chevrolet, Canon and Burnley Football Club, I've never suffered from brand loyalty, hence the change. I bought it from a small car dealer in Warrington and it has 80,000 miles, with full Lexus service history. The 450h was just one on a list of possibilities, which included Jaguar XF, Mercedes CLS, VW Phaeton etc.
  21. Hi I'm John from Blackpool, Lancashire. I joined the forum a while ago but I've only just got around to buying one. I pick up my 2008 GS450h SE L tomorrow. I'm changing from an E39 BMW 525i. I joined a BMW forum when I bought it and those guys have been amazing. If I get half the info from here that I got there, I'll be well pleased.
  22. Thanks, that goes a long way to explain the situation. I wasn't aware of the US factory, it's a shame Lexus UK failed to mention it.
  23. I enquired about the GS300 and asked if the GS450h was also effected. The Lexus reply indicates there is not a problem in the UK even with the 3.0 engine but as it's the same as the one marketed in the US, I thought I'd ask the people who own the cars, rather than the people trying to sell them.
  24. There is a recall in the US, which sometimes involves a complete engine rebuild. We are not being offered this in the UK. {url}
