  1. There's lots of opportunities if you have the right vehicle. Some years ago we broke the engine in our race car and couldn't get the parts to rebuild in time for the next meeting. We decided to go any way, so I entered my '69 Chevelle in the production class, parked in the paddock and didn't even bother with scrutineering. Full weekend's drag racing for four of us, at a fraction of the normal entry fee. :)
  2. As the AC works better at higher revs, I'd be looking at slipping belts or compressor.
  3. Piggy back from the audio fuse. Make sure your camera is 12v before hard wiring. If it's less, you need to put a resistor into the circuit. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400493091898?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  4. I'd say that's a mistake. If it is only two years old, it's averaged 15mph 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, since it left the dealership. That's about 360 gallons of petrol a week.
  5. I've got Pirelli Zero Rosso on my GS and they are very noisy. I had really cheap Westlakes on my BMW, which were quiet and grippy in wet & dry. It's a minefield, you buy quality tyres, thinking you're doing the right thing, only to find they're worse than the cheapies.
  6. I put my coat, with keys, in the boot. When I tried to retrieve it, the boot wouldn't open. I thought because the keys were there it would open but no. Luckily I hadn't locked the doors, so was able to unlock the boot from inside the car. Maybe the doors wouldn't have locked but I'm not going to try it because I've only got one key.
  7. Sounds like you gave-up too easy! I did buy another but spent a long time restoring it and sold it before it was finished. I have nowhere to park another car here but one day. :)
  8. I'm 65 too but I'm not allowed another Corvette, having been rescued from the last one, upside down in a water filled ditch. :)
  9. Super unleaded is for high performance engines. It has a higher octane rating to cope with higher compression ratios. Unless you've raised your compression ratio, you're wasting your money.
  10. To copy, highlight the text in Word, then hold down the Ctrl key and press the C key. Then to paste hold down the Ctrl key and press the V key. If you're using a MAC, I think it's the Command key instead of the Control key.
  11. I bought it from a small dealer in Warrington. I've emailed Lexus, so maybe they'll be in touch. Thanks for the info.
  12. If the recall applies, the previous owner will have the letter. :) I can't find any where on the Lexus site to inform them of change of ownership.
  13. I know there was a recall for valve spring failures a while ago. I have a full Lexus service history, so I'm assuming this couldn't have been missed. I've emailed Lexus because as I've just bought the car, my details won't be on their database.
  14. I've just been to the Lexus web site and entered my reg in the recall check and it indicates my car is listed for a recall. It's an 08 GS450h SE L Does anyone know what it's about and is it possible that it's already been done?
  15. The engine is just a normal V6, driving a different bunch of components. (I think :) )
  16. $326 from the States. Maybe you could find a UK dealer who stocks this kit. http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/2008/lexus/gs450h/engine_mechanical/timing_set.html I'm sure your local garage could fit it.
  17. Sorted, thanks for your help. If all else fails, read the instructions. :)
  18. We must have been reading that at the same time. :) I didn't think my panel was set to min but I'll have a look tomorrow.
  19. After some thought I decided not to break into the wiring harness. A piggy back circuit seems to be a less intrusive method. Using one of these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170709632237?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Anyway I decided to do a reccy today to find the fuse box, apparently there are several but the ones I would be interested in are in left and right footwells. I fumbled around and found it but a new problem seems to have come to light (or not to light :) ) I couldn't see what I was doing because there's no footwell lights. Is there a switch or an option in a menu somewhere?
  20. Bear in mind your car will travel 40mm further on each revolution of the wheel, affecting speedometer accuracy. 55 profiles are nearer the right diameter.
