  1. Yes true :) I tend to keep my cool anyway and I'm staying positive for a favourable outcome. Just wish the wait wasn't so long...
  2. Yeah I've not been too pleased with how it's handled so far but we'll see what the outcome is... I'll keep this updated. He did say though that they can't repair the bonnet as it's alloy so they would have to fit a new bonnet and paint that... Sounds expensive
  3. Well I went to the approved Lexus body's hop and they said there isn't a 12 year warranty on bodywork. I argued the point and told the Lexus had sent me down so they proceeded. Did a paint thickness check of the whole car to verify it was original paint and took detailed photos of the corrosion. They sent the claim off to Lexus and told me to expect a reply in a couple of months!
  4. OK, got an answer on the Facebook page but will post here for future reference... Press and hold the 'up' button and allow the roof to go through the full motions (up, down, slide open, slide close) Now roof will be fully automatic :) Credit to Steve, Paul and Ryo :)
  5. My controls seem to be faulty, there are 2 buttons for slide and 2 for tilt. I have to press and hold them for the Moonroof to move, no auto function. Both the tilt and slide controls do the same thing. Basically whichever buttons I press the roof goes from fully open to tilt without stopping at the closed point and vice versa... you have to time the release of the button to get it to stop in the closed position. Also the total close/open feature doesn't work on the roof, only the 4 windows. Is there a reset for the roof? Thanks, Mark
  6. I'd be interested in this gen 4 upgrade... the current system looks very... 'clunky' :)
  7. It's booked into lexus bodyshop on Wednesday for inspection. If the corrosion is because of defect and not through damage or stone chips etc it should be covered under the 12 year warranty Apparantly then run a variety of tests including paint thickness etc to determine the cause. I'll let you know how I get on :)
  8. I'm going to try and claim under the Lexus bodywork warranty. .. some people have had luck with it
  9. OK. ..might have forget to try with footbrake! Will try tonight... I'll search on vaistech adapter thanks! :)
  10. OK, just getting to grips with the car.. so far so good :) It seem's to be pretty well specced with nav and ML hifi... 2 questions... 1, Is it possible to connect my Samsung phone to the system to play music from my phone? Either via bluetooth or usb? 2, Is the ML system capable of playing DVD's? I've seen posts on us forums about DVD on the move hacks but I can't seem to get a DVD to play in any situation
  11. Cheers, She has full lexus history up to 60k, the last 13k being independent... I want to get the bonnet repainted and also the rear bumper as it's had a bad smart repair sometime in its past. Plenty of plans for her but first is a good service and timing belt change :)
  12. I think with the 450 there is a lot of negative posts about reliability in the higher miles, how true it is I don't know but it was enough to put me off... On the 430 mileage wasn't really a concern as I know how bulletproof these engines are generally and I prefer the 2005/2006 for the cheaper VED. Always best to buy on condition IMO... from the cars I've viewed around the £5000-6000 mark they all have some form of issue, I think £8000+ is required for a better condition low mileage example. As for gs300, the new DI engines have too much negative feedback and don't offer enough of a fuel saving for the loss of performance and reliability over the 430. The gs350 would be a nice car but command good money.
  13. Found one, bought it :) Has a few issues but I got it at a good price. GS430, 2005 with 73,000 miles, Silver with grey interior and black maple wood. All the options I believe :) Bad bits... A/c needs regassing Rear callipers are seized Due timing belt service (due to age) Corrosion on leading edge of bonnet Weeping rocker cover gasket
  14. Thank you :) Trust me I'm searching all the sites several times a day waiting for one to pop up lol. I was quoted the same from my local Lexus dealer (Teesside) it doesn't include tensioners but Lexus say they don't need replacing unless faulty, same as the water pump. Good tip on the exhausts, I'll check that on the next one I view As for the rust on the bonnet, it's a common issue apparently and Lexus are replacing/repainting the bonnet under warranty (although I believe there is an age restriction on car) if the corrosion is it caused by stone chips. Might be worth bringing that up with your local dealer. Out of the 2 I've viewed (both 2005 models) one was badly corroded but the other wasn't. The non corroded bonnet seemed to have an extra or more pronounced rubber seal between bonnet and grill which the other didn't have. Maybe part of the warranty fix?
  15. I'm looking at 2005/2006 myself due to the cheaper tax bracket. It will be my second car so will only do 5k miles per year at most so paying £500+ for VED for a car that's mostly stood isn't an option. Equally due to my low annual mileage finding a GS with higher than average miles isn't a major concern (providing it's been looked after of course) The 2nd one I've viewed needed rear calipers, an engine oil leak rectifing, bonnet repair due to corrosion and was overdue it's 100k timing belt service. ..
  16. Went to see one in Nuneaton but it has a rusty quarter panel one side and a badly painted one on the other. .. Also pulled to the left and front wing didn't line up properly
  17. Nice work! The black perforated leather retrieve is a great idea and looks like you've done a cracking job. Having installed tablets and carPC's in many of my cars I support what you've done here although not too fond of the excess space around the tablet (I understand though you need it to be easily removable) If it was mine? I'd also look at trimming or wrapping the wood trim... Keep up the good work :)
  18. Will do, aim to pick up the car this weekend and already have my eye on a set of 19s :)
  19. I was all set to buy one this weekend but my lift broke down so couldn't make it and it sold to the next guy :( So just putting feelers out for another one... budget of £5000 Thanks, Mark Remember to reply to this thread offering anything for sale you need to be a Gold Member otherwise it is against the terms and conditions of the LOC. 20. Hi all, I'm travelling 4.5 hours south on Saturday to look at a GS430. I don't know a great deal about the 3rd gen but I have had a gen 2 GS430 sport in the past. I tried to book it into the local Lexus garage for an inspection but they were too busy to accommodate Saturday. So I'll be checking this over myself on the day and was looking for any pointers on what to look for... It has 118k miles and Lexus history up to 100k including timing belt change... Just looking for pointers really :) Thanks, Mark Ps...what colour is it? :)
