  1. Halfords same price as Amazon for the Blackview I looked at. £330. But as you say "Halfords dash cams are Crap" so why are you stressing? Why not watch the review and be very surprised. How come you always know better?
  2. Halfords sell Blackvue if that is what you want. I fitted the A118 because it looks neat & works well with good enough resolution to read registration plates. Been in for nearly two years without a problem. I didn't want a Blackvue costing £350 left on view to attract thieves.
  3. Not worth disassembling it as the warranty is still valid even if possible. I would demand a new unit is fitted immediately. It is a safety issue.
  4. Press start and wait for the beep. Does the ready beep happen after pressing the button?
  5. No Aircon on/off on the GS dash panel either only in the screen menu controls.
  6. I watched a guy return to his quite new 320d and was surprised by how the front bumper & grille literately shook & vibrated along with the noisy diesel engine. Probably ok once moving but still made me appreciate how silent my GS is. If I ever go back to diesel it would be a 3 litre and avoid the rattly 4 pots. My previous diesel would take 12 miles to warm up and was not economical in town. My GS is economical on all journeys long or short. The GS still has all LED lighting inside and ambient strips built into the door panels a strange omission on the IS imho.
  7. I leave the aircon on at all times. Aircon dries the air so no misting. Ed
  8. I ran the cable under the headlining and down behind the door pillar trim and connected it to the power socket in the centre arm rest. . No wires are visible. I like the neatness as it looks OEM very similar to how Lexus have installed the mirror & rain sensor wires. It auto switches on, the screen shows a picture for around 15 seconds. Fit & forget until needed. Don`t have an RX but no problem with the airbags in my GS.
  9. I wanted a tidy no wires showing no suction mounts installation. I went with a A118/B40. Works well with good picture quality. No parking mode though. Picture of it installed in my IS300 Fsport and it is now in my GS.
  10. My GS doesn't do it so it is a fault. Fair enough if it doesn't bother you but rattles drive me mad fortunately not had any. Ed
  11. We considered a Leaf but were not overly impressed. If you only do short journeys just maybe. Neither of us liked its styling particularly the exterior. I have a round trip tomorrow of 300 miles. Not going near any charging stations so an impossible journey anyway in a Leaf. Ed
  12. No knowledge of iphones but do know that my Samsung S6 edge connects reliably every time. SMS messages are displayed & read out and calls can be answered. Podcasts play & display title etc on the screen. Seems like a perfectly acceptable system to me.
  13. But not by much. Take in the higher cost of diesel and the worse urban MPG and the Hybrid wins imho. I was waiting outside a shop for the wife today and a guy came back to his quite new 320D. As he fired it up the front bumper / grille literally shook. I couldn't go back to a diesel even if it did 5 mpg more!! I am not a Grandad & don't drive like one either!! I do stay under 90 on the motorway though
  14. You clearly don't know much about how Lexus Hybrids work in real life though
  15. No not really. I don't and achieve pretty much the same as my previous diesel (which had a smaller capacity engine) My wifes newish Mazda 6 diesel does similar MPG to my GS. Most cars fuel economy will drop as the speed increases including diesels!! "Start stop fashion" the engine would shut off & use electric power You clearly have not owned a Lexus Hybrid.
  16. Your point is drive a car, any car gently = more mpg, drive it harder =less mpg which is true for any car petrol diesel et al. I drive my GS on on a mix of roads at a mix of speeds & get average of 40 to 45 mpg. No gentle driving not slow driving just normal as I would drive any car. The outside temperature makes the most difference to MPG imho. Ed
  17. If it was my car I would ask someone else to rev it while I located where the rattle was emanating from. It is most likely something simple that a bit of foam would fix. Good luck and let us know how you get on. ED
  18. Hybrid makes sense in all types of driving 30k a year on the motorway or 5k around the town.
  19. This is where the electric kicks in and gives you the torque, but silently without the engine imho.
  20. My GS does 45mpg average mixed driving Do you know anything about the Atkinson Cycle type engine that Lexus use? Real world BMW 320d is 50 mpg.
  21. I didn't buy a GS to tootle around town in!!. It does 45 mpg or more at motorway speeds & the motor cuts in & out when required. The Atkinson cycle engine probably needs it for performance. 45mpg from a large car with a 2.5 litre petrol is imho excellent. An equivalent diesel would not do much more. Diesel is the fuel of the devil!! It is ludicrous to suggest a Lexus Hybrid is not a long distance motorway car.
  22. My colleagues £50k Toureg doesn't though. My previous 3 automatic cars didn't do it. I still think it is the type of pad they use It is the only (I think) gripe I have with my GS!! Ed.
  23. I was. It is a grunt as the pad releases grip on the disc. According to my dealer it is normal I don't believe them. I may try a different make of pad to see if it helps.
