  1. All input is important!! I started the thread to show how neat and professional a dash cam can look as an alternative to dangling wires and suction mounts. Contributing members have shown how good their installations are. Post a picture of yours!! Ed :eerrrmm:
  2. One more fly in the ointment is telling the insurance company would they load it? Ed
  3. An app on a phone is no substitute for a neatly installed dedicated dash camera which is fit and forget until needed with auto recording imho especially when other people are driving. It is also a thread about fixed installations in the 2014 new shape IS250 / 300h with no trailing wires suction mounts etc not really about apps or software. Your car looks nice great colour!! Ed
  4. The IS F seems to have a separate rear led bulb for the reversing lights so it may be an easy swap. From the outside on my car the fog & reversing lights look slightly different. I will have a look behind the trim and see if i can confirm what the difference actually is. Ed.
  5. The ebay lights are reflectors to with the Leds built in. The only legal point that I can see is they are probably are not E marked. I had a look at the Construction & Use regs and there is no set standard for rear fogs other than you must have at least one. Ed Ebay listing description:-
  6. I had a quick look and was able to put my hand up behind and there seemed to be enough space. The reflecter moved and I felt like it would pop out if pushed. It certainly didn't seem to be glued more clipped in!! Ed.
  7. Just fitted them to my F-Sport. A small screwdriver into the top and they came out no pressure needed just be gentle. Ed.
  8. It may be difficult to swap the leds from red to white as I bet they are soldered to an integral pcb. A complete light cluster is not required as the reversing light is in the separate smaller part on the boot lid. Sourcing the LHD light may be the hard part. I will try and find a supplier and cost it. Ed.
  9. One solution I have thought of to the one fog one reversing light issue. There are a couple of eBay listings for LED fog lights that replace the reflectors in the lower part of the bumper. Then a use a LHD rear light cluster so have two reversing lights. Assuming they change sides on a LHD?? Ebay item 361225233011 my tab will not copy the link for some reason. Thoughts? Ed.
  10. Nice camera but I didnt want to spend that much to tight and would be worried about theives as my car is parked on the street most nights. The one I installed also does GPS and has AV out to the ICE if required. Post up some pictures of the install it would be nice to compare. Mine looks factory and is not noticeable from the outside. Ed
  11. I may add one to the rear at some point but a smaller one hidden at the top of the window. It took about a week to arrive from China. It is well made with an intuitive menu. Ed.
  12. If anyone is thinking of installing a dash cam then I recomend this one. I did not want any suction mounts or trailing wires. This one actually mimics the way Lexus have mounted the rain sensor and the rear view mirror so looks factory fitted. The picture quality is excellent. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311193970960?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I cut some black fablon to stick the camera to and hide it from the outside. The wire tucks into the head lining and trim down the front of the door shut then across to the middle fed from the socket in the center console arm rest. A nice factory look installation. 13. I find my is300h F-sport fast and nippy. I drive mostly in normal but had a try in sport mode yesterday while the roads was quiet and thought it wasn't that quick to accelerate to 70 and looked and was doing 93. It is fast away from the line if you enjoy the traffic light grand prix although I cannot be bothered anymore!! Joining the motorway going from 30 to 70 it is particularly lively (and quicker than diesel rivals) which for real life driving is more important imho than the 0 to 60 time. The road holding on corners is excellent. If you want to drive like on a Top Gear test then maybe not the car for you but for real driving on the public roads then it is fast. I was going to buy an XF but after a test drive in the Lexus I changed my mind. I am getting around 45mpg mixed normal driving. What I like the most is the refinement. No diesel clatter no black smoke on acceleration and no DPF to worry about. In slow traffic the engine is off so uses no fuel and totally silent. I wasn't convinced until the test drive thats the only way to know if it suits you. Good Luck Ed.
  14. I bought a very small 64gb memory stick to store music to plug into one of the usb sockets. Occasionally this is not recognised and it seemed to mute all audio sources. All ok now using a standard size stick. Just a thought Regards. Ed.
  15. I have ordered a set and a UK supplier so delivery on Tuesday. I will let you know if they fit. They look ok from the picture and offer a full refund if not happy. Ed.
  16. Thannks Mark, now I am tempted to spend even more money. I have just ordered a pair of the ash tray /small bins for the center console. The service manager at my local Lexus franchise is very helpful oredering things for me. How can I justify £400 for illuminated tread plates?? Ed
  17. The way the interior & exterior puddle lights switch on when you are near even before it is unlocked.
  18. Is the can of sealant not of any use? It is what Lexus supply so surely must be useable? I have not owned a car without a spare before. Anyone used it?
  19. I wanted an F Sport in Mesa Red. I never even considered the resale value!! This is mine and I am happy with the colour and imho looks great with the gun metal alloys and the black leatehr interior. Choose the colour you like and enjoy the car. Two week in and I am loving mine more and more. The total lack of diesel rattle and engine noise is superb as is the overall build quality.
  20. Power from a USB charger fed from the arm rest 12v socket. I have seen various ipad headrest mounting brackets on ebay. I do not have an ipad but if I did then would go for something like this one. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-In-Car-Headrest-Back-Seat-Holder-Mount-for-iPad-1-2-3-4-Mini-Tablets-/141337755185?pt=UK_iPad_Tablet_Mounts_Stands_Holders&hash=item20e862fe31 Ed.
  21. I hope it turns up as promised. Lexus dealers are alleged to be the best but so far mine have not been very good apart from taking the money they were very efficient at that! Post some pictures up when you can. I have a Mesa Red F-Sport and two weeks in am loving it more & more. Great car and am glad I didnt go for the XF. What colour & options did you go for? Ed
  22. You are absolutely right Edward, I've just been out and switched my lights on and the one on the rear drivers side is in fact the rear fog light, even though it looks like a reversing light when not in use. Well spotted, I boobed there didn't I. Yes I have electric seats on both sides but only the drivers seat is memory but yes, they are both heated and cooled too. . My 250 had memory on both sides though. I probably could work out a way of giving two of each but not sure it is worth the effort. I would need to purchase a light cluster and modify it. I dread to think what the cost of one would be!! On my previous car used parts were available not sure there would be any for an IS300. Ed :eerrrmm:
  23. I think the "bulbs" are infact LED`s. As the same aperture is used for a fog on one side and a reversing light on the other then it is not realy possible to add one to each side. I will go out and have a look to be sure though. My IS300 does have electric seats for driver and passenger they are heated and cooled to!! The door pockets seem ok to me. Not that I have the junk like CD`s with all music on one usb stick. Ed
  24. Ah I see, I thought it was one of those quick clear screens!! I agree the premiere should realy have everything as standard considering the list price. What does it have over the F-sport as mine seems to have most options apart from a sunshine roof. Ed
