One of the reasons I chose the IS300h is the interior design. Compared to the opposition I am happy I made the right choice. The XE is dissapointing for a new design and the C class has the ICE screen sort of tacked on. The Audi is ok but a bit dull. BMW ok ish but dated. Volvo not for me just looks cheap. My dashcam will only be viewed if I need to use the footage as part of an insurance claim. It loops every 2 hours so nothing is kept. Only criminals & dngerous drivers need worry about any form of cctv imho. Ed

That rubbish!! What would they do if he had triggered a speed camera and earned 3 poimts and a fine? They would have found out who the driver was then no doubt.

Its like reporting any criime. Regardless of what the Police will do about it should be reported. There is guy who posts bad driving on you tube and many of the drivers featured have been given a caution and I think a few porosecuted. Can you clearly see the reg number?

They didnt charge as such but under the Lexus used car gurantee the wipers are covered for the first three months. My OE lasted 18 months. At £13 a set and with Lexus at £30..........The best wipers I had on my previous car were a £2.99 set from the filling station!!

My F-Sport was in need of a new set of wiper blades. I orderd a set ( 18 & 24" same as an Insignia!) from wipers.co.uk ,£13 delivered. They seem excellent quality certainly as neat looking as OE unlike some makes I have seen. They work out less than replacement rubbers from Lexus. The last time my car was in the dealers I asked for a new set and all they did was clean them, it s amazing what you see and hear on the dash cam!! I have no connection to Wipers.co.uk other than being a satisfied customer. regards Ed

My F-Sport came witht he carpet mats. They seem good quality and respon dvery well to a vacuum clean. The Lexus logo looks the part to and they clip in place. IMHO worth paying for. Ed.

Ok I have had a read and no there is not an alternator as such driven from a rubber belt. It then points towards a faulty battery. Although however the battery is charged it would need more than 30 mins to bring it back from flat imho. Lexus did a Hybrid health check on my IS at the last service which gave a readout of all the systems. Ed

If the battery was dead then running the engine for 30 minutes will have no effect on its state of charge. It is a misconception to assume that driving a car with a flat battery will charge it up fully. Your battery is either defective or needs a battery charger on it for a few hours. The alternator is only there to top up a fully charged battery not bring it back from the dead. Maybe the Lexus system hybrid is different but I doubt it. Ed

1. Think of it like an exam, below 40% Fail, 40 to 59% grade D, 60% to 69% grade C, 70 to 79% grade B, 80 to 90% grade A ,91 to 100% A*. So for my scores the IS passes at grade B or above!! Maybe time to stop analysing the antics of Auto Express me thinks

My Sony Z1 compact phone updated itself to Android 5 Lollipop last night. Today for the first time a text message was received on the ice screen and the voice read it out. I was pretty pleased seeing as I didn't do anything to any of the car settings. It certainly didn't work with Android Kitkat. Ed

This is what the survey asks the driver to rate. This is how I would have scored my F-Sport had I been bothered to enter. Marks out of 10 (1 worst 10 best) Reliability 10 Build Quality 9 Running Costs 9 Performance 7 Road Handling 8 Ride Quality 6 Ease of Driving 9 Seat Comfort 9 Practicality 7 In-car Tech 7 Ed

It is a survey of people who drive a certain car and there opinion of it. If only 50 people or less completed the survey for the Lexus is300 and all rated it highly for seat comfort & reliability then I cannot see how that is meaningless well not completely meaningless. If 500 people completed the survey for the Discovery and all rated it poorly for reliability that to isn't meaningless. No where does it give the breakdown of how many entries each car received but there is a minimum. I cannot say if the entries are true or biased apart from the one for the IS300 as I have one and generally agree with the ratings for it. The next focus of the Auto Express (we want to sell more magazines) survey is the cars which scored the lowest. Probably a bit more relevant bs. Ed

The Mondeo didn't make the top 100 (which is why I thought it wasn't included) so owners are not exactly bowled over by them. But who decides to buy themselves a new car & decides on a Mondeo? Someone who has no interest in cars imho.

Most people don't lie though and even if one two did the results would be the same. The NX scored well in all categories not just perceived reliability. Surveys are not flawless but also not complete b.s. either. The Ford Mondeo is not included because not enough entries for it which of course doesn't mean it is a bad car. imho the survey attracts people who finance their own cars rather than company fleets which I suspect is the bulk of Mondeo sales. I am though making assumptions as we all are. Ed The IS300 Mk3 scored particularly high for Ease of Driving, Build Quality & Reliability. I as an owner would agree.

There is load's of volume sellers in the top 200 , Fiesta Focus Golf etc They didn't get a high enough rating to be in the top 10. There has to be a minimum number of votes to be included.

Do you know for sure it is the older generation who vote? The people who vote are more likely to be private buyers opposed to sales reps in a Mondeo imho. One youngish guy featured said he loved his 4 series which he only used for pleasure as he had a company car. Maybe Mondeos are not that good enough to make the top 200?? Of course there are lies, dam lies & statistics!!

I agree. The Driver Power survey is though the opinions of actual owners like us rather than a journalist who bases everything on a blast around a test track. The results show that what drivers want from a car is not necessarily what the motoring press promote.

I agree and tried to buy a couple of the Lexus small bins. My dealer said they were on back order and will call me when they are available. 2 months later no call either the dealer has forgotten or they are still unavailable. Not sure I even want them now anyway. Ed

A TPMS is included in the test and must work if fitted. They only look to make sure the warning light is not flashing to indicate a fault. Ed

To be fair to Auto Express they also reported last year that German cars have the most engine faults!! I take most of what the motoring press print with a pinch of salt though. I bought my Lexus is300H Fsport because I liked the way it looked drove and cost & didn't particularly want a diesel. I walked past a Jag today just as it started up and boy what a racket it really did sound like a cement mixer cranking up. Then a CT wafted past in total silence. Ed

It doesn't on my F-Sport. I think in the test it was some sort of software issue as he had muted the sat nav which affected the ice sound.
