  1. All Lexus accessorises are expensive!! part no GBNGA-LXISB-PP. I bought it on eBay from the Lexus Birmingham ebay shop. Look up the price yourself as I am in denial. :tsktsk: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Lexus-Birmingham-Parts?_trksid=p2047675.l2568 Ed
  2. While I was in the dealership I noticed a brand new is300 which had a bumper protector fitted. I like the look so bought one. My bumper had a few marks & scratches so it covered them up to. It is an OE part so fits properly. Ed
  3. A colleague of mine has a newish 3 series GT. The seats are like sitting on hard board and it has no toys, he still has a satnav on a windscreen suction mount. The electric closing hatch back is cool though.
  4. I had a 5 series taxi bring me home and it sounded so noisy. Guess I have got used to the Lexus.
  5. I read this in the paper, what a jealous idiot. I hope he is caught and has to pay for the damage, the image is clear enough for him to be known. My dash cam switches off with the engine I cannot think of a way to make it stay on. If I had an Aston I would invest on a 360 degree system. Ed
  6. I routed the cable under the head lining and down the pillar across under the steering column and tucked under the carpet along the edge of the center console. I plugged it into the socket inside the arm rest. I to didn't fancy playing with the wires inside the fuse box, invalidating warranties etc. The wire only shows where it enters the armrest near the seat belt stalk and is inconspicuous. The camera included a few neat self adhesive cable clips to. Ed
  7. The cigarette symbol spoils them especially for a non-smoker. Easily rectified though. Ed
  8. My previous car had HID`s for dipped and halogens for main beam. Flashing the lights used the main beam halogens. The HID`s took about 5 seconds to reach full brightness so not used for a quick flash. My Fsport has HID`s and they do seem to flash immediately but I dont understand how a HID bulb can be instantaneous? Or are they actually LED`s.....................My previous was vintage 2003 so perhaps technology has just moved along!! Ed
  9. The Fog & the reversing light I suspect are both LED`s one red one white so they look the same when switched off.
  10. I got my daughter to flash the lights by pulling the stalk while I watched. They did illuminate immediately but also stayed on! The back tail lights were on to. Not sure what is going on seems odd or does my car have a fault? Ed
  11. What does it not have that you would want regards as essential? My Fsport has extras but to be honest are they essential? Electric memory seats, I am the only driver so never use it. Cooled seats are nice to a point but I doubt I will ever use heated seats. Keyless entry is a nice gadget but one press of the remote to open the doors is hardly taxing!! I would not want a car without an auto dimming rear view mirror, folding door mirrors and a reverse camera. SatNav Electric windows & aircon are essential to me but standard on most cars now. Ed
  12. I only realised today that the is300 dose not have separate bulbs for main & dipped beam and the single HID lens actually tilts up for main beam. How then can you give a quick flash of the lights to let someone out of a side road? The HID surely takes a few seconds to fire up?? My wife's car has HID`s only for dipped, the main beam being standard halogens. Ed
  13. Just read the CAR magazine review of the new Jag XE. "You’ve got to admire the keyless entry system developed by Jaguar: unlike on rivals’ set-ups, you literally just tug the door handles and you’re in" My is300 has done this way before the Jag, guess they copied Lexus. Ed
  14. I agree to a point but cost aside I prefer the look with them fitted. I use one for change and the other for receipts etc They also make an arm rest for the passenger. I unfortunately paid Lexus price for Toyota parts which are less than half!! Ed
  15. When I was last in the dealership I ordered two of the Lexus small bins / ashtrays. 6 months later they called to say they had them for me!! I picked them up today. Not sure if they were difficult to obtain or they just forgot to call me. I am happy with them. They fit neatly in the center console and the passenger can use them as armrest. Are they worth £80 for the pair erm not really but as long as the wife doesn't find out I don't care!! Ed
  16. My Lexus is serviced by Lexus at a Lexus dealership. Last time I watched the dash cam footage back & they drove it next door to the Toyota dealership to be worked on!! I expect they always do!!
  17. If you are prepared to mod the bumper and or fit is250 parts it would look great on a 300h. It may cost a bit but could well be worth it. Any decent custom exhaust place could make the pipes up. Its how Lexus should have made the 300h fsport to differentiate it from the standard cars imho. Ed
  18. What version of Android is your S5 running?
  19. My Xeperia Z1 compact didn't link to the IS at all until Android updated from kitkat to Lollipop version 5.02. Then without me doing anything Text messages were displayed, address book linked and read out & emails all worked perfectly. Ed
  20. A colleague gave me a lift home in his BMW 3 series GT. (3 series hatch back) It looked nice enough from the outside in a BMW way and the hatch had power open & close nice! Once inside the seats were like sitting on ply wood flat & hard!! The dash was basic looking and he took ages getting his TomTom out and sticking on the suction mount. It also sounded like a tractor and seemed noisier than my wifes diesel Insignia which imho has a better interior. What is the attraction of BMW`s I just dont see it. Ed
  21. My ICE screen has some smudge marks on it but only noticeable when the screen is off. Once powered up they cannot be seen. Ed
  22. The New Audi A4 has gone down the tacked on screen approach!! Horiid imho. Looks like an afterthought.
  23. My Fsport has the Leather memory heated ventalated seats which are superbly comfortable and excellent quality. & a £2k option!! No marks or wear showing after 20k miles. The base spec XE has fabric seats.
  24. It seems I am not the only one who finds the trend for "tacked on " screens a disappointment. Thank goodness Lexus decided to intergrate it into the design of the dash. http://jalopnik.com/this-is-the-worst-new-trend-in-car-interior-design-1564314503 Ed.
