  1. I have just fitted the boot spoiler (looks great) and the lid now opens in a more damped way. The springs seem to be designed to allow for the extra weight. Ed
  2. Style. What is "sporty" though? To me how it looks & how fast off the line and handling of which my fsport delivers as much as any "drivers" car. I prefer the look of any IS to a 3 series even the M3. Our next door neighbour has an Evoque looks great with that go anywhere ruggedness & cool & modern, he has the 2wd version though as he likes the style but doesn't actually want to go off roading. He takes his kids to school and shopping trips. Style counts. I know I dont need or want 4 seconds 0 to 60 or 160mph, 30 years ago now maybe!! A girl friend of mine only ever wears jeans & a sweatshirt no matter what the occasion. She is nice looking but clothes dont interest her in the slightest. To be honest she has no style, doesn't bother with her hair either it is clean & neat as are her jeans & sweatshirts but that is as far as it goes. Ed
  3. It what the IS is designed to do get you from a to B in comfort & style using the public roads. It is why I bought one. (The lack of diesel clatter blocked up DPF etc) Not for driving around like a failed Top Gear presenter then moaning because it isnt a "drivers car". A BMW M3 may be very fast but in all honesty where can you use 4 seconds 0 to 60 and 160 mph? I didn't buy it to do circuits on the test track or ever have any intention of doing so. Its what most motoring journalists fail to grasp. No rattles or wind noise or pop up hoods on my fsport either!! Ed
  4. That sound like a ignorant motoring journalist line. Who honestly buys a car to drive at break neck speeds around the country lanes? Assuming that is what is meant by a "drivers car" Saying that an is300h in sport mode is fun enough. I would say the strongest part of the IS is the hybrid drive train. It offers refinement decent mpg as an alternative to a clattery diesel with no DPF to block up. The instant take off and use of electric around towns is another feather in its cap. Let us know how you get on with your 200t & post some pics!! Ed
  5. Now had you said that in your original post..................... Good luck I am sure it will be fixed. My fsport doesn't exhibit the same fault.
  6. 2014 sales of new cars. White & Black 22% then Silver Red Blue Grey all at approx 13%. Perhaps people in Hampshire are just old & dull so like Grey cars?
  7. There is no wind noise around the seals on my car. I have noticed a slight noise from the mirror which I don't think is a fault. If your glass to door seal is noisy then you do have a fault. Fitting wind deflectors is treating the symptoms. The glass may need adjustment or the rubber replacing. Why not let your dealer have a look? It may well be covered under warranty to. Ed
  8. I think wind noise around the door is coming from the mirror. I tried folding them is while driving and the wind noise vanished. Deflectors only help if you drive with the window partly lowered as it allows ventilation without buffeting. Or is that what you want to do? Ed
  9. . The ice cold matrix will attract condensation which can cause misting. I cleared mine by running the heating at full (with he aircon compressor off) for a few minutes. Alternatively just leave the aircon on at all times set to a comfortable temp and then no misting. My previous cars were the same it is not imho a fault. I had a strange metallic noise from the front N/S wheel. It turned out to be a detached TPMS sensor rattling around inside the tyre. The dealership were very quick to fit a new one under warranty. Ed
  10. I doubt they would produce an IS300h in mesa red with Red leather interior. My Mesa Red has the Black leather. A white IS300 with red leather looks superb imho!! How do you know red leather is not liked? In our street loads of people have Evoques. Most of them are white or Red. The amount of Red cars on the Lexus site is no indication of popularity. You could just as easily come to the conclusion they are more popular because the sell quicker so less available!! Ed
  11. I am fairly certain you are wrong on this. Red is one of the most popular new car colours at 13% (The most popular white is 19%) The Jag XE is most popular in Italian Racing Red very close to Lexus Mesa red. Ed
  12. I just loathe being called a "fanboy" Like I would spend £30k on a car and not admit it had a fault & have it repaired because I am a fanboy. I have read all about the problem and tried to replicate it on my car and it doesn't exist. At one point I thought it did and realised it was the ASC which was easily rectified Ed
  13. "lexus fanboys" grow up and dont be so rude. I am not a "fanboy" any more than you are. My car is an early model and definitely does not have the problem. No car manufacturer issues a recall if only a few are affected. If your car is then take it to a dealer who will fit the damper for you. Ed :megaangry:
  14. I am not saying the Lexus system is the best but it not any worse than its competitors. It certainly isnt "lightyears" behind if imho. My phone links via bluetooth automatically linking contacts & emails. It reads out text messages & emails & I can reply via the screen. I can google search & use street view. The map graphics look modern enough imho not like Pacman!! I prefer the mouse style control over a wheel its how I have used a PC for many years & still do!! Ed
  15. . My car is the same. There is also a louder noise emanating from the booster seat in the back.
  16. Its not a tolerance thing with me, I was being bugged by a slight noise from a first aid kit in the passenger door pocket. Relocated it to the boot and it went. The BMW forums are also full of posts about rattles (along with engine failures). My IS is 63 reg with 22k miles.
  17. I think because of the Lexus reputation for build quality & quietness then rattles stand out. Saying that mine does not have any really. I keep thinking it does but so far it has been items in the car making the noise, like CD`s in the glove box & a first aid kit I had put in the door pocket etc
  18. I am happy enough witht the satnav, it gets me to my destination with no obvious problems & seems accurate in warning of traffic jams. I have the upgrade (not ML) ice and it has good sound quality. No vibrations on my car at any speed and the mouse is better now I put the feedback level up to high. I suppose it depends on what car you had before. A colleague has just bought a E-Class coupe about the same age as my f-sport. It doesnt have satnav and is quite noisy being a diesel! Ed
  19. Voice announcement volume can be altered up & down. I have mine set at level 4. Why would you want the voice volume to be different though between say satnav & text message though? The feature I do miss is muting the ICE for the satnav lady to speak. Ed
  20. My old car had the same shocks that didnt leak at 12 years 90k miles!! It must be hopefully a one off fault. Or do dealers "find" things that they can charge Lexus for? Ed
  21. Hi Malcolm, Open boot. Remove the two blanking plates and then undo the two bolts. The complete cluster then slides out giving easy access to the bulbs no matter what size your hands are.Takes about a minute. The bulb is a large size capless, 7504 type I think or maybe a WY21W not sure!!There must be an LED version!! Regards Ed.
  22. A smart lady parked her new white BMW next to my Mesa Red fsport today. When she got out she said how gorgeous the colour of my car was. The fleck in Mesa red really pops in sunshine and does indeed look superb. It made her white BMW look rather dull!! I used a wax called Check the Fleck made by a firm called Bouncers which really does as the name implies. You picked the right colour, so many new cars seem to be gray silver or white!! Ed
  23. Brushed aluminum? TBH I prefer the black one with Mesa red as it looks more factory. Maybe not on a white car though. Some higher res pics of your car would be nice Ed
  24. I would go back to the salvaged car and get the plug with the wire attached. The wires will be colour coded so just get someone who is handy with a soldering iron & heat-shrink tube to join them up. Cars being delivered are insured by the delivery firm. Why not claim from them? Why would they steal a built in head unit? Did they damage the dashboard getting it out? Ed
