  1. I've had 3 ls430's and all had good main dealership servicing. However, I've only ever once taken a car to a main dealership myself opting for independent garages. For me, having all the stamps in the book was just as good. At least I knew that the servicing was being done regularly rather than not at all. Also when it came to selling my previous 2 cars there was never any problem. Money saved on dealership prices enables me to make sure I can always get the servicing done and put fuel in the tank. My car now is 18 has a book full of service stamps, never let's me down and I feel extremely satisfied that it won't. In fact my first ls430 only ever had a battery, tyres and a front ball joint in the six and a half years of my ownership up to it's 20 years. I have a good relationship with my indy and they've been very helpful. It's just down to choice. Would I go to a main dealer if I had deep pockets? - absolutely! In reality I know that what I've done has kept my cars on the road with no problems and I've had peace of mind.
  2. Someone suggested to me the maf sensor could be faulty. I bought a cheap Chinese item from ebay and voila no engine light. About a year later the engine wouldn't rev up. Called the Rac and diagnosed the maf again. As I tend to not throw stuff away too quickly the original was still in the glovebox. I gave it to him, he fitted it, problem solved - albeit the engine light came on. Never bothered after that.
  3. The engine light on my 2000 ls430 stayed on for 2 years without any running issues at all.
  4. No idea why it's happening but reading your initial first line - is it possible that it's something to do with the lpg system? Hope you get to the bottom of it quickly.
  5. An update on this request, I have now bought a refurbished wheel. Thanks.
  6. My alloys were shabby so I opted to buy a set of 4 aftermarket new wheels. (Should've bought 5) and then, later on, decided to buy the 5th for a spare - no they're discontinued. I've tried everywhere and I'm reliably informed there are none here or in europe! I thought I'd got lucky when I found one on ebay and bought it, had the tyre fitted and have now realised the offset is wrong being 50 instead of 35 which I need. If I get a puncture on the rear - no problem as the calipers are smaller on the back. However, if I get a puncture on the front I will have to remove the rear wheel, put the spare on the back then remove the front wheel and put the rear tyre on the front - "That'll larn ya" my dad would have said 🙄. Anyway, if I can get an original as in picture 1, (even if it's a bit scruffy) I can use it as a spare. So, if anyone has an 18" LS430 wheel kicking around they want to sell, PLEASE p.m me.
  7. All quite true, I don't drink, don't smoke and don't gamble.....got to spend the kids inheritance somehow! 😁
  8. I actually almost ran out of petrol and felt it start to chug before I reached the garage. I've never let it run that low before and I must admit the seat of my trousers started to quiver. 85 litres went in! £189.9/ litre = £161.41 😬
  9. I've got to say, that cradle is a work of art. Well done!
  10. Didn't even know there was such a thing? Isn't that like putting a towbar on a Rolls Royce?
  11. Hi. It's called clayton. I watched some reviews on youtube for a number of head units and saw this one that was from a company called caronics in Dubai. Everything works. There's so much on it I'm still learning everything. I had it fitted by a company called motorquip not far from me in Newton abbott. He said he's fitted a lot of units that customers have bought themselves and this was by far the best to fit. Also he wouldn't have been able to actually supply this one himself. It comes with a reversing camera but he managed to use the existing Lexus one. He also said it was a pleasure to fit as the Lexus fittings are far better than a lot of other cars where clips etc tend to snap. He asked me about the car and then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to sell it to him!
  12. Just advertised mine on the for sale section in case anyone is interested as I've had a new android head unit installed today.
  13. I see it has had a parrot phone system installed. Doesn't the 04 come with the phone system built in? Mine is a 54 and has it.
  14. My first ls430 had this problem and rather than buy a new motor or cog which normally wears, I took the plastics off surrounding the steering column and manually adjusted the mechanism until the steering wheel was in the position that suited me. The only thing you would need to do is adjust the up and down part. Hth
  15. Not this one but if another blue one came up with 30000 on the clock....😄
  16. Yeah i agree with 8-9 but a base line of 7 and come up from there. Use your knowledge to show him you know what you're talking about. I paid 6400 for my 54 ls430 in January with 101,000 on the clock plus it had the radar cruise control.
  17. Lovely car and for that price it should be. An average of less than 1700 miles per year! Even on a different plate it should still show the history. Second hand cars have gone up in price but I think at the price they are asking it's more than a tad optimistic to say the least. I think the most you should pay would be around 8-9,000 absolute max. Good luck and only you can decide what you want to pay. Offer him 7 I'd say.
  18. ...and the most obvious observation is....they look tacky and *****!
  19. Yep, fitted a set of bosch aero blades from halfords last week. I had trouble trying to get the drivers side to fit but noticed the old one had the locking clip cut away one side. Instead of cutting the edge off of the new one I removed and used the old clip. Nice and clear and quiet.
