  1. There's another one on offer with oil mixing with water but I felt that would be anything but a simple fix. I will see if I can find it. This is the one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-Lexus-LS-430-4-3-V8-4dr-Auto-SATNAV-DVD-SCREEN-LEATHER-/141574515881?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20f67faca9 I just looked at the pictures of this one and in one of them I can see the little black switch under the handbrake release that is the same on my car. I still don't know what this is.
  2. Thanks for the reply. I just like to know if anything is supposed to work, then I want to make it work, if you know what I mean. Cheers.
  3. Here's a couple of pics of what appears on screen.apologies if they come out sideways or upside down. One screen shows the phone option , the other shows a number pad to add a telephone number.
  4. Thanks Steve I've checked out the manual pdf and I do have the manual myself but cannot find anything about it anywhere. Perhaps although it has it on the screen, it isn't an option on the 2000 model? I shall try to work it out in the car.
  5. This probably sounds daft but can anyone explain how to set up the phone, assuming it's a bluetooth system. Thanks.
  6. Me and a mate of mine used to ride motorbikes etc over the fields when we were kids in the mid 70's, he had a bantam and I had a powapack engine from a bicycle rudge on the back of my bike. We both used to pitch in together to get a gallon of petrol. Probably cost about 15p then....ah those were the days. :D
  7. Interesting reading all this as I have stated that I don't do many miles on my commute but as yet not had any issues at all. I used to use a trickle charger on my bike as I only used it in fair weather. The charger was for all types of vehicles including caravan batteries and my leisure battery for my caravan is on the trickle charge now. One point about not alarming the car is that the insurers would question that point if the vehicle was stolen wouldn't they? If they can get out of paying out they will for sure. Probably cheaper to buy another battery in the long run and for peace of mind.
  8. Back in the late 70's I had a kawasaki 250 S1. Triple everything. Omg, that was fast then!
  9. Is that a picture of you on an Rd yammy there? I've been into bikes myself until my wife had the stroke and had to sell mine. I had a 1520 goldwing interstate so I guess big engines are in my blood
  10. Well I suppose we might be doing some siteseeing depending how my wife is so it's possible that we might end up that way.
  11. Hi Paul we are staying in seaton. Our friends moved down there last year and they live on the seaside front so we will be able to pop in on them. I see you are in Devon, or as it's said "the English riviera".
  12. I'm getting around the low 20's mpg on my ls430 according to the computer and I only have a round trip of 8.4 miles to and from work and home. I use the cruise function whenever I can and keep the mph down as much as possible. I have no idea what I will get on motorways and don't normally have a need to use them. I will be towing our little caravan down to Devon at the end of may and it will be interesting to see how she performs then. In any case the benefits far outweigh the issues with the fuel as I now have a car that will easily take my wife's wheelchair without the necessity of folding the double seat down at the back to get it into the boot like on my old car, and she can manage to get into the car without me having to lower her in and pull her up when she gets out which saves my back! :)
  13. I am trying not to think about mpg too much as it will probably frighten me but at least it's better than my nissan 300zx tt that I owned, that only did 15 mpg and was only a 3 litre and my 55 cadillac coupe de ville 5.4 only did 10 mpg!
  14. Thanks Mark I will have a look and see if there is anything added under the bonnet as you suggest.

    ls430

my canterbury blue ls430. 14 years old and 112600 on the clock
  16. Hi, I have owned my ls430 for just under 2 weeks and am getting to know what all the buttons, knobs and switches do but I'm at a loss as to what one switch is. It is situated below the handbrake release lever and just has zero and one on it. Can anybody enlighten me as to what it does or is it an added extra? I would have added a picture but am having trouble uploading from my gallery.
  17. Hi, just joined and thought I'd just add my first few lines here. Whatever vehicle, beit car or motorcycle, I always look for a club to join. I have been, and in some cases still am, a member of the daewoo/chevrolet owners club, the pioneer nevada owners cub, the honda goldwing owners club and the caravan and camping owners cub. In my experience it always pays dividends to be a member of a club so I just Googled " lexus owners club" and here I am. I look forward to reading through the forums and asking a few questions.
