Thanks for the reply. Bearing sounds likely as the tyres are nearly new. I'm going on a 600 mile round trip soon so will get it checked when I return.

Hi all. I've been getting a feeling through the steering when steering right, almost like a vibration. Doesn't happen when steering left. Seems to drone when the speed is picked up. Probably going to take it to a garage anyway but wondered if anyone had any ideas or pointers. Cheers

My 430 is a November 2000 model so an early one. It had been well looked after with all lexus servicing and one toyota one. It had 112000 miles on the clock when I bought it 2 years ago and now has about 127000. It has never failed an M. O. T and drives like a dream. It still has the airbag suspension which is fine, original radiator, original screen and no rust whatsoever. If ever it suffered with one of the aforementioned problems I would either just get it fixed or buy another 430.....I love my car.

What do you know...just replaced my battery with a new boshe one and it's not only cured my "up and down" steering adjustment problem but the radio comes on straight away with no more of that problem where it only works intermittently. wonderful!

I have a 2000 ls430 and I too have had a problem with the adjustable steering over the last few days. The in/out worked ok but had no movement with the up/down which was annoying as the steering wheel was quite low hindering me seeing the dash and too close to my legs. I read up on how to fix the ls400 but the ls430 is different . I have been trawling the web and have just come back indoors having followed a "how to" link on Google. I now have the wheel at a nice comfortable position that suits me and am armed with the knowledge how to sort both cars. sweet!

I have a spare unit in the garage so I'll have a look and see if I can use it to describe how I did it.

It's not hard to do I've had a go at it a good few times because of the cd error on screen. I managed to remove all the cd's but the fault remained. It seems like when this error occurs it spells the death nel for for the cd player leaving you with the cassette and radio. There is a "how to" on YouTube if you type it in.

I get the idea but 10 -12 hours, that seems a long time and will doing this effect anything else?

Ls430 mark levinson radio suddenly started playing up. first the cd player gives up now it's the radio. sometimes it will come on and be okay but mostly refuses to work at all. I can be driving along without a sound from it then suddenly it will start playing. Any ideas chap's ?

I paid £246 recently for mine and it's the cheapest I've paid but perhaps it's because it's a 430?

Oh well, looks like i've now got 2 cd players that do not work. At least I got a full refund and told I could keep the unit.

I had a Nissan 300zx twin turbo that had been imported and the main speedo was in kph but also had the mph in smaller numbers. I bought a converter but never fitted it. Passed the mot's without any concern every time. Japanese models were better spec than the uk models too with all leather interior instead of cloth. Fog lights were already fitted too. Only thing I had to do was make sure I knew the conversion limits. Some members of the club used stickers on the speedo for reference.

I got the unit today and I tried it to see if it powers up which it does. Trouble is the radio works but the cd player doesn't. It says the same as the original unit "cd error". I took it to an audio decoder and he rang his friend who was trained on pioneer systems. He said it's a common problem on this unit. He also said there is no code to put in. I've searched in my manuals and I can't find a code for the original unit either. Can anybody else tell me different? adventure before dementia

Mine has had nearly all lexus servicing apart from one Toyota dealership service. I took it to lexus Woodford last year and had the service and cam belt done. (£700). I'm moving to devon soon and I will probably look at future services with a reputable garage. My car is 15 years old too with 123000 on the clock. I don't suppose having a full lexus service history will make much difference anyway as I don't intend selling it and as long as it still is serviced properly it should be fine. It is my only car and is used as a daily driver and most of the time my wife's mobility scooter is in the boot. Probably better to look after the wallet a bit more now.

I've posted on here a while ago about my faulty cd player and I've just taken the chance of buying a working one off of eBay for £33.25, postage included! Only thing is that it doesn't come with the code. I think that this could be retrieved for a fee or maybe lexus could help out? Might be I've wasted my money but I felt it's worth a shot. I will put an update on here at a later point.

Join the club. Same happened to mine. I removed the player to get access to the cd's but it still won't work. Really annoying and can't find an answer to sort it out. There is a "how to" on YouTube on removal. adventure before dementia
